It is a little loud because it has a hole in one of the exhaust tubes and when revved up it gets pretty loud. I am going to list all the things that I know don't work or could be problems with this vehicle. The wipers do not work, the paint is in ok shape, but has fading in some areas and little crow feet marks up by the front. I tried to take a pic of this. Something came loose on the drivers side door panel and the front handle does not open the door, but the back one does. There are several pieces of trim not on the car. The trunk has a little hole in the top where someone once attached a cb antenna. Many of the light bulbs in the car need replaced, such as the lights in the tail lights that come on when driving at night, but the brake lights do come on. When the hood is closed there is the slightest little area on the passengers side where it isn't perfectly flush."

I tried to list all the problems that I know of in the condition description.  There where a few other things I didn't get in.  The horn does not work and there is a few small rips in the seats. The gas gauge does not work, because I never reattached the wire when I took the tank off and cleaned it before I started it up.  Mechanically the car appears to run great.  I have not driven it very far, but it has ran just fine each time I have drove it. I have probably put a total of 30 miles on the car.  I drive it about once a week for a couple miles around the neighborhood and wake up all the neighbors...lol.  The paint appears to be redone about 20 years ago, but it is the original color.

Here are the positives.  The car has had a recent oil change and  new air filter.  The only thing the mechanic recommended was that the belts get changed at some point because he thought they were starting to get a little loose.  The brakes were done earlier this year.  It has a better dash bezel put in.  This one reads 7000 some miles, but I saved the original so whoever buys this car can fix it up if they want, plus you will know exactly how many miles are on the car.  The original bezel shows 47,832. These are the original miles. The previous owner was positive that this odometer had not been rolled over.  He knew the entire provenance of this car and still wants to know who buys it from me.  I would be happy to give the winning bidder his info so you can know the whole history of the car.  The car has virtually no rust anywhere on it.  The only rust I have found is some on the back side of the bumpers, and some very tiny tiny spots here and there.  You have to look REALLY close to find them.  I stated earlier that some of the trim is not on the car, but the good thing is that I have all the pieces.  I have the hood emblem, the back window trim, the lower side trim, and the trim' that goes behind the front bumper.  I paid 200 plus dollars for that trim. The car has many extra parts..  I have two extra carbs, a shifter to replace the one in the car because the top plastic broke on the one in the car.  I have all new weather stripping for the car.  This costs me around 150.00.  I have two extra clocks. The one in the car is not running, but I know for sure the one in the old bezel works, and then I have an extra after that.  I have a new speaker for the car.  The radio appears to turn on, but doesn't pick up sound.  This should fix it.  The previous owner paid a lot of money to have the original radio rebuilt.  It could also be that I didn't get it hooked up right when I put the new dash in.  I have extra handles.  I even have an extra parts toronado if anyone is interested.  I will be selling it after this one, but figured the buyer of this might want to buy it. It has a great set of back up lights in its bumper and the winner of this auction can have those lights if they want to take them off.  I have seen them sell on ebay before for over 100 dollars if they are in good shape.  I have really nice front bumper and rear bumper lights for the car.  I just have not put them in.  The engine appears to be in great shape.  It is really clean. The system for the lights has been taken out and I have no idea how to hook it back up. I believe that I have all of the parts.  The canisters, the vacuum tank, ect.

Hopefully this car will find a great home.  Someone who will be able to get it all finished up.  It is really cool.  I am not a mechanic and have tried to be as honest as I can be.  There are no guarantees with this car.  It is being sold as is where is.  I will put the reserve very low.  I am only selling to get extra money to help remodel an investment property that I am buying.  Other wise I had planned on keeping this car.  There is probably an extra 1000 dollars worth of parts, that you could sell on ebay if you did not want them.

Thanks for looking and good luck bidding on a classic olds.

Title is clear and in hand.  The title that Illinois gave me does not have mileage or the model.  The original owner gave me an index card that shows how the vin breaks down to let you know the model, year, and color.  If you would like extra pics please let me know.  Ebay will only let me put up 24.

eBay Find of the Day: 1976 GMC Motorhome is a jolly green giant

Wed, 18 Jun 2014

If you have a need to relive the 1970s, then here is the vehicle for you. This groovy blast from the past is a 1976 GMC Motorhome currently for auction in Florida on eBay Motors, and it is one green machine - just not in the modern sense.
The seller claims that this beast has had just two owners and has covered a mere 61,308 miles in its decades on the road. It's reportedly never been restored or repainted and comes with all of the necessary books and manuals. A 7.5-liter (455-cubic-inch) Oldsmobile V8 with a three-speed Turbo-Hydramatic automatic transmission powering the front wheels propels this far-out RV, and the double set of rear wheels out back use a self-leveling air suspension to provide a cushy ride.
The purported low miles and good condition really make this GMC a stand out, though. The exterior combination of lime stripes and beige with just a touch of green is like nothing else on the road today. Plus, the polished bumpers and wheels make it all pop. Inside, it's even better with monochromatic green upholstery and shag carpet. It features everything you'd ever need on a long trip, including a bathroom, kitchenette and lots of seating. The only hint of modernization is an HD TV next to the stove, but its size is a perfect fit for the hole there.

Jay Leno bangs up his own Toronado in GT6

Wed, 11 Dec 2013

Ever since Gran Turismo 4, Jay Leno has had at least one of his cars included in the popular racing simulator (starting with the Tank Car), and more of his machines appears in Gran Turismo 6. They include this nose-heavy, front-wheel-drive V8-powered muscle car. Yes, that aptly describes a 1966 Oldsmobile Toronado - except Leno's is rear-wheel drive. And it has a Cadillac CTS-V race engine modified to pump out 1,070 horsepower.
For the latest Jay Leno's Garage episode, he takes his real Toronado out for a cruise and then drives the virtual one like he stole it, accruing some body damage along the way. Leno also drives the virtual supercar Mercedes-Benz designed for GT6, the AMG Vision Gran Turismo Concept that debuted at the LA Auto Show, along with the real one, which is a 1:1-scale model. The model is radio-controlled and equipped with a small electric motor, sufficient to move it on and off of auto show floors.
Head below to watch the episode, which includes a few words from GT6 creator Kazunori Yamauchi.

GM recalling 8.4M cars, 8.2M related to ignition problems

Mon, 30 Jun 2014

General Motors today announced a truly massive recall covering some 8.4 million vehicles in North America. Most significantly, 8.2 million examples of the affected vehicles are being called back due to "unintended ignition key rotation," though GM spokesperson Alan Adler tells Autoblog that this issue is not like the infamous Chevy Cobalt ignition switch fiasco.
For the sake of perspective, translated to US population, this total recall figure would equal a car for each resident of New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Montana, Delaware, South Dakota, Alaska, North Dakota, the District of Columbia, Vermont and Wyoming. Combined. Here's how it all breaks down:
7,610,862 vehicles in North America being recalled for unintended ignition key rotation. 6,805,679 are in the United States.
