This is a very nice example of a low mileage 1963 Oldsmobile Dynamic 88. It currently has 75,500 original miles on it. The car was a one family car when I purchased it. The registrations I have show that the original owner only drove the car a few thousand miles per year and when she passed away the car was given to her brother where again, it was not driven much. When he passed I acquired the car from his daughter. As a matter of fact several of the registrations still have the license plate stickers attached to them as the car was not driven at all that year. In the 10 years that I have owned it I have only put about 5,000 miles on it driving only for parades, trips to the beach and a few long weekend drives.

Since I have owned it, which is nearly 11 years, the car has always been garaged and has never seen the rain.  I restored it when I first got it and have done a lot of work to it to keep it in good running condition. I kept most of the original parts that I replaced like the carburetor, and other assorted parts. I have a lot of the original paperwork including the protect-o-plate and most of the registration paperwork since it was new.

Options include, P/S, P/B, 2 Speed Wipers, Deluxe Steering Wheel, Power convertible Top, Remote Trunk Release, AM Radio.

I replaced a lot of parts on the car trying to remember that it is a low mileage car so most improvements were done with originality in mind.

Since I owned it I have replaced:
Convertible top with zip out rear window
Convertible top cylinders and hoses
New seals on convertible top frame
New well liner
Brakes on all four corners
Power brake booster (rebuilt)
Master cylinder
New carburetor
New U-Joints
Carpet
Seats/ door panels recovered
New door seals
New trunk seal
New tires
New wiper motor
Plus lots of other stuff that I can't remember

What it still needs or stuff you should know:
Blinkers don't work
AM Radio plays a lot of static
Horn doesn't work
The front bumper has some pits and the rear has holes where the brackets attach to it (normal for this year)
Drivers door has small paint chip
Top has a scuff by the drivers door

Interior/ Convertible top:
The seats were recently recovered in the original colors, the carpet is relatively new and in great shape. Door panels were redone a few years back and still look great. There are seat belts for the front but no rear seat belts. New seals on both doors. Convertible top was completely removed, sand blasted the entire frame, repainted it and re-installed with new seals. The rear window is still as new. All of the glass is in good shape.

Body:
The car was repainted white a few years back (originally Provincial White). All of the chrome was removed including the bumpers for the repaint. The paint is still really nice but has a few bubbles popping up. The car was virtually rust free and as you can see in the pictures the floor pans are really nice with no signs of rust.

Motor
As far as I know the motor has never been apart. I did some repainting of the engine and fender walls and the engine compartment looks really nice. The motor starts right up and does not smoke.

Suspension:
I have done very little to no suspension work. It still has what I believe to be the original spiral shocks on the front. Tires were replaced several years back and are still as new.

Trunk:
The trunk has been detailed and looks nice. All of the original cardboard pieces are still in good shape and in place.

Look at the pictures, ask lots of questions and bid with confidence after checking my feedback. These are recent pictures and I am representing it as well as I can. Please remember that this is a 50 year old car and as with most cars that old it has flaws. I am a picky person so I hope I am not being to picky pointing out every flaw that it has. This is a really nice car that gets a big thumbs up every time I drive it. Please ask and I will send more detailed pictures.

Please do not bid if you don't have the funds to complete the transaction. I reserve the right to end the auction as I have it for sale locally. If you have negative or zero feedback please email me before you bid as I will cancel any bidders with excessive negative feedback. I am an honest person trying to sell my car and I don't want to play games with people that just want to bid without intending to complete the transaction.

NADA Average retail is $28,400 and high retail is $46,300. My reserve is less than half of the average retail as I need to sell this car to free up room for my other two projects.

Clear Florida title in my name.

The successful high bidder will submit a $1000.00 non-refundable payment deposit with PAYPAL within 24 hours of the close of the auction to secure the vehicle. I will not take PAYPAL for final payment or balance (unless you want to pay the 3% fee). I will accept U.S bank check or cash in person for final payment. Buyer agrees to pay remaining balance due within 7 days of the close of the auction. All financial transactions must be completed before delivery of the vehicle.

I will assist in prepping the car for loading onto a trailer or car hauler but it will be up to you to set it all up.

Inspections are welcomed.

GM recalling 8.4M cars, 8.2M related to ignition problems

Mon, 30 Jun 2014

General Motors today announced a truly massive recall covering some 8.4 million vehicles in North America. Most significantly, 8.2 million examples of the affected vehicles are being called back due to "unintended ignition key rotation," though GM spokesperson Alan Adler tells Autoblog that this issue is not like the infamous Chevy Cobalt ignition switch fiasco.
For the sake of perspective, translated to US population, this total recall figure would equal a car for each resident of New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Montana, Delaware, South Dakota, Alaska, North Dakota, the District of Columbia, Vermont and Wyoming. Combined. Here's how it all breaks down:
7,610,862 vehicles in North America being recalled for unintended ignition key rotation. 6,805,679 are in the United States.

Ferrari FF pitted against Oldsmobile Vista Cruiser in crazy Generation Gap comparison

Thu, 13 Nov 2014

The folks behind Generation Gap have lost their minds with this latest video. The goal here is to determine the ultimate family cruiser, but the choices are what you would least expect, with a heavily modded 1970 Oldsmobile Vista Cruiser going up against a 2012 Ferrari FF.
You might anticipate an over-40-year-old Oldsmobile to pale in comparison to any modern Ferrari, but this wagon has a ton of secrets under its skin thanks to Lingenfelter. First, it packs a supercharged LS3 V8 with a claimed 650 horsepower and a six-speed manual gearbox. That big upgrade in power is further helped with air suspension and massive Wilwood disc brakes. The result is nothing short of deafening, with blaring yelps whenever the driver even nudges the accelerator.
The alternative sounds just as good, albeit in very different way. The Ferrari's 6.3-liter V12 pumps out 651 hp and 504 pound-feet with a part-time all-wheel drive system. While the FF lacks a lot of the hauling ability of the Olds, it makes up for the deficit in handling, luxury, and in many eyes, simply by having the famous prancing horse on the grille.

eBay Find of the Day: 1976 GMC Motorhome is a jolly green giant

Wed, 18 Jun 2014

If you have a need to relive the 1970s, then here is the vehicle for you. This groovy blast from the past is a 1976 GMC Motorhome currently for auction in Florida on eBay Motors, and it is one green machine - just not in the modern sense.
The seller claims that this beast has had just two owners and has covered a mere 61,308 miles in its decades on the road. It's reportedly never been restored or repainted and comes with all of the necessary books and manuals. A 7.5-liter (455-cubic-inch) Oldsmobile V8 with a three-speed Turbo-Hydramatic automatic transmission powering the front wheels propels this far-out RV, and the double set of rear wheels out back use a self-leveling air suspension to provide a cushy ride.
The purported low miles and good condition really make this GMC a stand out, though. The exterior combination of lime stripes and beige with just a touch of green is like nothing else on the road today. Plus, the polished bumpers and wheels make it all pop. Inside, it's even better with monochromatic green upholstery and shag carpet. It features everything you'd ever need on a long trip, including a bathroom, kitchenette and lots of seating. The only hint of modernization is an HD TV next to the stove, but its size is a perfect fit for the hole there.
