The car has had two repaints and needs to be stripped in some areas before repainting. Rusted areas should be easily repairable, worst areas are around rear wheels. Interior is all original with exception of after market emergency flashers. Vinyl in seats is intact with exception of splitting on top of back seat in front of package tray. 51,756 original miles, driven approximately 14,000 miles since I purchased the car in 1999. ONE BREAKDOWN IN FOURTEEN YEARS when wire to coil loosened. Mechanically, not perfect, but runs and idles smooth as silk. Some smoking after warm-up particularly in warmer months, but car runs cool. Oil consumption steady at one quart per 300-400 miles. Worn bushings and a squeaky front end that is out of alignment. Transmission front seal leaks, and transmission is slow to make the first shift in colder weather, but shifts normally afterward. Needs tires. TLC will bring it back to life!"

Low reserve on a serviceable and easily restoreable 1962 Oldsmobile Super 88 Celebrity Sedan. I am the third owner of this vehicle and have enjoyed around town and weekend driving (approximately 1000 miles per year) in this classic automobile since 1999. The Oldsmobile is equipped with power steering, power brakes, automatic transmission, working AM radio, and power windows. No AC, but otherwise this was a fairly luxurious car in its time, not a basic model. Upholstery is easily repairable with original cloth for inserts readily available. Carpet is in good although faded condition, all four door panels intact with exception of one small hole on driver's door. Back seat vinyl split at package tray, package tray has a small water stain. Interior of trunk is very good, large spot is from a recent spill. Headliner and visors in near perfect condition. Original Oldsmobile visor mirror. Windlace shows almost no wear.

Mechanically sound but needs a thorough going over to make it really roadworthy although it is driven as needed to keep fluids circulating and to keep the engine running well. New exhaust. Gas tank and sending unit refurbished in 2007. New brakes and wheel cylinders at approximately 40,000 miles. Master cylinder replaced around 45,000 miles. Needs tires, front end attention (squeaky) and some other minor tweaks to bring it up a notch for dependable daily use. Fuel pump rebuilt in 2007. Wires, plugs, hoses all recent, but carburetion is a little off although carburetor has been rebuilt since I purchased the car. After warm up, has a tendency to stall out on take off unless you feather it a bit. Engine runs and idles exceptionally smoothly and quietly, minor oil consumption has been noted above.

Dash pad cracked at radio speaker, but an easy fix due to flat contours of foam underneath. Green cold light works intermittently, safety sentinel glows but doesn't buzz when set to monitor speed of vehicle. Color coded speedometer works great. Windshield washer reservoir is missing. Wipers and power windows are a little touchy but they are all in operable condition. (Wipers delay before coming on, sometimes won't turn off immediately, then after they have been operating a while they work fine. Power windows occasionally do not operate, and problem is probably in driver's door wiring. They either all work (90% of the time) or none of them work. Heater fan currently not working, motor used to come to life slowly, now doesn't come on at all. I'm guessing if I ever got it out on the highway for a couple hours in the "high" position, it would probably surprise me again. Vacuum for air circulation is a little weak, but the vents do open and close enough to get air moving in the summer. Driver's window glass has been replaced and has a small crack at bottom near top of door. Windshield and rear window near perfect, some discoloration in vents. Working AM radio, good reception and tone if you can find something worth listening to! Radio mast antenna has been repaired at base. Cigarette lighter works. Some vehicle lights not operable, may just be bulbs for some of these: One parking light, one high beam headlight, one backup light, glove box light are not currently working. Interior courtesy lights, dash lights, and overhead light work as they should. Turn signals work but automatic shut off doesn't so signals need to be operated manually.

Bonuses: Protect-o-plate, original owner's manual, service manual, sales brochure, original bumper jack. Also have spare NOS fuel pump and gasket, spare bumper parts (filler strips, brackets, lights, etc. plus a pair of new front fender extensions (one on car is a little bent) for the next round of body work.

Body is in decent overall condition with some repairable rust and minimal body filler which has deteriorated around rear wheels. Front and back bumpers need some work but should be repairable. Original rear bumper and lower part of front bumper have been replaced from parts cars. Two paint jobs were sub-par but have kept the condition of the vehicle from deteriorating. This vehicle really deserves a cosmetic and mechanical refurbishing! No guarantees, but car should be driveable for delivery within a reasonable distance (a couple hundred miles) from Washington DC.

eBay Find of the Day: 1976 GMC Motorhome is a jolly green giant

If you have a need to relive the 1970s, then here is the vehicle for you. This groovy blast from the past is a 1976 GMC Motorhome currently for auction in Florida on eBay Motors, and it is one green machine - just not in the modern sense.
The seller claims that this beast has had just two owners and has covered a mere 61,308 miles in its decades on the road. It's reportedly never been restored or repainted and comes with all of the necessary books and manuals. A 7.5-liter (455-cubic-inch) Oldsmobile V8 with a three-speed Turbo-Hydramatic automatic transmission powering the front wheels propels this far-out RV, and the double set of rear wheels out back use a self-leveling air suspension to provide a cushy ride.
The purported low miles and good condition really make this GMC a stand out, though. The exterior combination of lime stripes and beige with just a touch of green is like nothing else on the road today. Plus, the polished bumpers and wheels make it all pop. Inside, it's even better with monochromatic green upholstery and shag carpet. It features everything you'd ever need on a long trip, including a bathroom, kitchenette and lots of seating. The only hint of modernization is an HD TV next to the stove, but its size is a perfect fit for the hole there.

Jay Leno bangs up his own Toronado in GT6

Ever since Gran Turismo 4, Jay Leno has had at least one of his cars included in the popular racing simulator (starting with the Tank Car), and more of his machines appears in Gran Turismo 6. They include this nose-heavy, front-wheel-drive V8-powered muscle car. Yes, that aptly describes a 1966 Oldsmobile Toronado - except Leno's is rear-wheel drive. And it has a Cadillac CTS-V race engine modified to pump out 1,070 horsepower.
For the latest Jay Leno's Garage episode, he takes his real Toronado out for a cruise and then drives the virtual one like he stole it, accruing some body damage along the way. Leno also drives the virtual supercar Mercedes-Benz designed for GT6, the AMG Vision Gran Turismo Concept that debuted at the LA Auto Show, along with the real one, which is a 1:1-scale model. The model is radio-controlled and equipped with a small electric motor, sufficient to move it on and off of auto show floors.

Ferrari FF pitted against Oldsmobile Vista Cruiser in crazy Generation Gap comparison

The folks behind Generation Gap have lost their minds with this latest video. The goal here is to determine the ultimate family cruiser, but the choices are what you would least expect, with a heavily modded 1970 Oldsmobile Vista Cruiser going up against a 2012 Ferrari FF.
You might anticipate an over-40-year-old Oldsmobile to pale in comparison to any modern Ferrari, but this wagon has a ton of secrets under its skin thanks to Lingenfelter. First, it packs a supercharged LS3 V8 with a claimed 650 horsepower and a six-speed manual gearbox. That big upgrade in power is further helped with air suspension and massive Wilwood disc brakes. The result is nothing short of deafening, with blaring yelps whenever the driver even nudges the accelerator.
The alternative sounds just as good, albeit in very different way. The Ferrari's 6.3-liter V12 pumps out 651 hp and 504 pound-feet with a part-time all-wheel drive system. While the FF lacks a lot of the hauling ability of the Olds, it makes up for the deficit in handling, luxury, and in many eyes, simply by having the famous prancing horse on the grille.
