INSPECTED, dependable car owned by my family almost since it rolled off the assembly line. It was just inspected by a licensed mechanic through the state inspection program, so you can take the certificate straight to the Maryland DMV/MVA and they'll issue you plates on the spot.

It's still great on gas - at purchase it was 26mpg highway and gets very close to that now. I also tested for fluid drips and there are none. This is a great car.

SHIPPING: Buyer can take possession from my house in zip 20770, or I can deliver to your house within a 50 mile radius at $2 per mile.

Since my family bought it, it's been well maintained, no accidents, and has a number of recent improvements (such as tires). I rate it as good condition and attempt to expand on that below:

Driving and drive train: Runs perfectly, starts every time (on the first time - even in the cold), stops great, accelerates great, cruise control works great, turns great, shifts gears great, and moves in reverse great, MD emmissions passed (most areas have identical standards). In this category, I'd rate it as "excellent" condition.

Lights, electrical, and heat/AC: Great sounding factory stereo, A/C works great, all speakers operational, heat works great, all lamps 100% functional, power windows operate perfectly, headlight lenses were recently polished, all doors lock, power locks work perfectly, no blown fuses or short circuits, recent new battery, dash lighting works great with no warning lights active, LCD display on radio needs repair, radio antenna needs repair but gets good reception, stereo is MP3-player compatible either through an FM transmitter. In this category, I'd rate it as "good" condition.

Interior: No heavy stains, no torn upholstery, non smoking family, no heavy wear spots, no hairspray or grease stains, no water leaks, no strange smells, shiny dashboard, no debris or junk, center console functions on temporary hinge. In this category, I'd rate it as "good" condition.

Paint and body: Inspected for rust and found none, most panels are in great condition but some have scratches in the clearcoat (can be rubbed out), front bumper has small marks and normal wear, rear quarter panel has minor bend, rear bumper has normal wear, drivers door has moderate dent, small dings and scratches in a few places, trunk and roof need clearcoat. In this category, I'd rate it as "fair" condition.

Other: Wipers just replaced, tires recently replaced, no glass damage or cracks, drivers sun visor needs repair but functions, trunk and hood latches work well, parking brake well adjusted. Overall I rate the vehicle "good" condition.

Next Nissan GT-R to take cues from GT-R LM Nismo Le Mans entry

Fri, 06 Jun 2014

For those wondering why Nissan named its coming Le Mans Prototype the GT-R LM Nismo, colliding the two worlds of sports car and prototype racing, an article in Autocar might have the answer. The deeper union is explained by saying that the next-generation GT-R will use "hybrid technology that will closely align it" with the GT-R LM Nismo.
The point could be further driven home by the fact that the GT-R LM Nismo will begin its FIA endurance racing campaign next year, and the next GT-R is due to debut next year as a 2016 model. The expectation is that it will use a hybrid system possibly dubbed R-Hybrid and perhaps developed by Williams. Just like performance car makers Ferrari and Audi, Nissan wants its racing efforts to pay off with road car technology, company vice president Andy Palmer saying they "want to link technological linkages between future evolutions of the GT-R and evolutions of what we do in LMP1, and the two do go in both directions."
The bigger question is, with the GT-R getting hybrid assistance, will it also get the weight gain that usually comes with it? Enthusiasts would love to see the trend reversed, especially on a car that's already no lightweight.

Infiniti brand will finally make its debut in Japan, but not the name

Thu, 14 Nov 2013

Nissan left the automotive media scratching its collective head when it announced that its Infiniti luxury brand would be renaming all of its vehicles, with cars wearing the Q designation and CUVs/SUVs wearing the QX badge. So the G Sedan became the Q50, and the G Coupe became the Q60. The QX56, meanwhile, became the QX80, and the FX crossover became the QX70. It is still thoroughly confusing nearly a year later.
Not content to confuse its US customers alone, Nissan will be fiddling with the name of one of its most revered Japanese-market models - the Skyline. Rebadged for the US as the Q50, and before that as the G Sedan/Coupe, the new Skyline will wear an Infiniti badge. What makes this truly confusing, though, is that the car won't be called the Infiniti Skyline, despite its badging. It won't even be called the Nissan Skyline, anymore. It's now just the Skyline. Apparently, Nissan thinks it can capitalize on the Skyline's link to the Japanese royal family (the Skyline was originally a product of Prince Motors, which provided vehicles for the Emperor and his family), by ditching any brand names and referring to it as its own model, according to Automotive News.
Now, confusion aside, there are things about Infiniti badging in Japan that make sense. Badging all the Nissans that eventually become Infinitis as Infinitis in the first place goes a long way to make the brand seem separate and distinct from its parent company. Speaking to AN, Infiniti's executive vice president of global product planning, Andy Palmer, puts it this way, "We have to treat Infiniti, if you will, in the same [way] that Volkswagen treats Audi. It's not a Nissan-plus. Infiniti has to stand head-to-head with any of those German competitors."

Pebble Beach Concept Car Lawn adds class to the grass

Sun, 17 Aug 2014

While Pebble Beach is traditionally thought of as the refuge of the pristine and pricey vintage vehicles of the world, there's no shortage of newer vehicles on display. And when we say "new," we mean really new. As in, not even in production new. This is the concept car lawn, and it's home to an eclectic group of vehicles from past and present.
Of course, calling it the "concept car lawn" is a bit of a misnomer this year (as it has been in previous years, too). Production models like the Alfa Romeo 4C were on display, alongside known quantities like the Hennessy Venom GT and modified versions of already-on-sale models, like the Rolls-Royce Phantom Drophead Waterspeed Collection.
There were a few concepts on display, though. Toyota debuted the critically acclaimed FT-1 Concept in a new shade, while BMW's Beijing Motor Show stunner, the Vision Future Luxury, was also parked on the expensive grass. Also appearing were the Nissan GT-R in sheep's clothing, the Infiniti Q50 Eau Rouge, and the recently debuted McLaren P1 GTR.
