this is in amazing condition, selling it because we have not driven it in the past few months.  it was really just used for family vacations and as rare is that is getting it is to expensive to keep it sitting in the driveway looking pretty.

this has the selectable AWD, and the paddle shifters. so even though it appears to be a family vehicle, you can get that need for speed fix whenever you want.

also we had after-market screens mounted in the rear headrests and connected to the factory navigation system (this was an option over seas but never for the American market, so it was easy to have them installed, with out ruining the stock appearance of the vehicle.)

there is also an after-market series 3 tow hitch installed, (u-haul branded and installed at a u-haul center by the dealer where we purchased this vehicle) it was used to tow a small ATV trailer on occasion. and for the occasional trip to home depot.

no other modification from stock,  it has been very well maintained and only rarely used by us.

there is a lien on the title, if you would feel more comfortable working directly with my bank for the lien release i can arrange that. it is not a lengthy process and only takes about a week from lien release till i have the clean title signed over to the new owner.

the exterior is nice and shiny,  only a small number of standard door dings, nothing that broke paint,   one very small paint chip on the front drivers side of the bumper, see last picture.

the tires have good tread but are starting to show very slight signs of drying out. (this is KS, at least that will guarantee a rust free vehicle) i would expect a good 2 more seasons out of them at the very least.  the leather seats have been diligently maintained with professional leather conditions (purchased from the local detail shop)  we also had this detailed about a month ago and it still looks VERY good inside and out. i do not allow them to use glossy sticky cleaning products or anything like that. again this is kansas, that junk just attracts dirt. the inside and outside is CLEAN, but the plastic not in a high gloss armourall type of finish.

we have maintained this with the intention of it being our family vacation vehicle for years to come.  but i would like to be done with the payment and the lack of us using it has just reaffirmed that.

Mitsubishi ready to pull Evo's plug

Mon, 31 Mar 2014

We have all manner of unofficial metrics in the auto industry. No doubt you've heard some of them, like the butt dyno. Another popular measure is the smiles-per-dollar index - how entertaining is a car versus its price. Cars like the Mazda MX-5 Miata, Scion FR-S and Mini Cooper S, for example, score quite highly, while vehicles like the BMW M5 or Audi RS7 are great to drive, but score lower because of their much higher price tags. For a long time, the king of the smiles-per-dollar index was arguably the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X, which blended hair-raising thrills for the price of a well-equipped Ford Fusion Titanium.
Now, it looks like the Evo will need to hand over its title, as this generation of the rally-derived rocket is likely to be Mitsubishi's last - at least for a while. There's been no mention of just when production of the current car will end, so if you're in the market, we'd suggest trying to find a dealer with inventory ASAP. The news comes from the automaker's Japanese mothership, which says the brand will instead focus on utility vehicles and EVs. While there are no direct plans for a successor, an Evo XI as it were, the door remains open for a different kind of beast, according to Mitsubishi.
"Mitsubishi Motors does not have any plans to design a successor with the current concept, as a high-performance four-wheel drive gasoline-powered sedan," said Namie Koketsu, a spokesperson for Mitsubishi, according to Automotive News. "Mitsubishi Motors will explore the possibilities of high-performance models that incorporate electric vehicle technology."

2013 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport models with leather seats recalled over airbag fears

Tue, 25 Feb 2014

Mitsubishi is recalling 733 of its 2013 Outlander Sports that were fitted with leather seat covers due to problems with the seat-mounted airbags. Apparently, the wiring for the airbags may have been routed incorrectly when the seat covers were installed at the port.
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration bulletin, the issue only really crops up if owners adjust the height of the seats. Naturally, if the seat wiring is damaged, the airbag may not deploy in the event of a side impact.
The affected vehicles were all manufactured between July 20, 2012 and May 29, 2013. There have been no reported injuries or accidents due to this issue. Mitsubishi, meanwhile, will begin notifying owners, who will need to report to their local dealer for free inspections or repairs. Take a look below for the bulletin from NHTSA.

Your 2013 Pikes Peak Hill Climb primer: "Donuts at 14,000 feet."

Sun, 30 Jun 2013

The teams have all set up their pits and paddocks for today's run of the 91st Pikes Peak International Hill Climb, and there's nothing left to do but take a shot at the title. At 8 am Mountain time (9 am EST / 7 am PST), the first of a field of 83 bikes and 63 cars - whittled from an original field of 157 - will race 12.42 miles through 156 turns from the start gate at 9,390 feet to the summit finish at 14,110 feet. The summit is where we'll be all day, having arrived on the media bus at around 5 am and not allowed to come down until the race is finished. If it's anything like last year that could mean a 14-hour day on the top munching on donuts at the summit café, begging for hits of pure oxygen and trying to stay hydrated and warm...
Here are the event with Hyundai, we enjoyed dinner with Rhys Millen got his take on what's happened and what's about to happen. Millen said the issue that caused his engine swap last week was minor, a head gasket (a production part) that was causing a bit of hesitation and a slight drop in top speed. He said it's the first time they've stressed the engines this hard, pushing boost pressures up to 19 psi at altitude, which equates to 25 psi at sea level. Offering testament to the strength of the engines, though, he said that Paul Dallenbach's engine did the entire 2012 drift season as well as Pikes Peak, and it's the engine being used again for the hill climb this year.
We also chatted with Dallenbach, who has come back from that beastly crash last year in the Unlimited category to lead almost every practice day this year in the Time Attack class. Telling us he's happier behind the wheel this year than he has been in 20 years, he asked us, "Know what my dashboard says when I turn the car on? 'Donuts at 14,000 feet.'"
