1997 Mitsubishi Eclipse 2 Dr. Gs on 2040-cars
Danville, Iowa, United States
Up for sale is a 1997 Mitsubishi Eclipse GS with a 2.0 liter 4 cylinder motor and a 5 speed manual transmission. The motor DOES NOT RUN. It has been severely overheated and the waterpump is bad and the timing belt has been melted. There is part of the wiring harness on the motor that has been partially melted too. I bought this car as a project and it needs more work than I want to put into it. All of the lights and turnsignals work ok. Power windows and doorlocks work good. Power sunroof works fine. All the electronics ( wipers, lights, power accessories and blower fan) all seem to work fine. It has almost new firestone firehawk tires on it. It has aftermarket headlights, taillights, and foglights on it that all work fine.(one of the taillights and one of the headlights have moisture in them, but they function properly) The interior is in good condition other than the radio has been removed. I have never taken off the drivers seat cover, but the previous owner said it was in ok shape. The outside of the car is in descent condition for its age. There is a small dent in the front of the drivers door at the bottom. (see pic) The front bumper has a small split in it on the drivers side. (see pic) It has a few minor scuffs like most used cars do and the bottom of the nose has a few scrapes from going over bumps. There is a small rust bubble starting on back hatch just below the glass. It has a rusthole on each side by the strut towers underneath the hood. (see pic) There is also some rust starting in the rear wheel wells just in front of each back tire.(see pics) There is no battery in the car. Its a descent looking car that needs work to get going again or would make a good parts vehicle for somebody else's car. It has a clear IA title. Car is for sale locally and I reserve the right to end the auction if it sells outside the auction. It is located in Danville, Iowa. BUYER IS RESPONSIBLE FOR SHIPPING. Thank you and happy bidding. |

Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV production restarts after five-month delay
Wed, 21 Aug 2013Back in March, production of both the Mitsubishi Outlander plug-in hybrid and the all-electric i-MiEV ground to a halt over a pair of incidents where overheated lithium-ion batteries caused vehicle fires. Following the rocky start, The Japan Times is reporting that production of the Outlander PHEV has recommenced following the five-month stoppage.
The battery fires were tracked down to a supplier issue before more than 4,300 vehicles were recalled in June, but Mitsubishi received heavy criticism from the Japanese government for the delayed recall. According to the report, though, that hasn't slow down enthusiasm for the plug-in crossover - Mitsubishi has received close to 18,000 for the Outlander PHEV. To keep up with demand, the automaker is planning to double production to 4,000 units a month.
Mitsubishi Concept G4 leaves us feeling blue
Sat, 20 Apr 2013To say we were unimpressed by the 2014 Mitsubishi Mirage that debuted in New York earlier this year would be one heck of an understatement. So pardon us for not oohing and aahing over the Concept G4 that we're seeing for the first time here in Shanghai. It is, basically, a Mirage sedan. Try to contain your excitement.
Mitsubishi states that it intends to roll out the production version of the G4 Concept globally, powered by a 1.2-liter MIVEC engine mated to a continuously variable transmission that should at least be good for some substantial fuel economy gains. The Mirage, after all, is rated at 37/44 miles per gallon city/highway. We're also told that the car will be very lightweight, and that this should aid in making this thing not drive like a total dud.
We'll wait and see how the relatively sharp lines of the concept transfer to production form, but given that we already know what the Mirage looks like, we have a pretty good feeling that we'll be just as underwhelmed the second time around. Have a look below for the press blast.
