This amazing well maintained VR4 car is absolutely one of the most enjoyable cars you will ever drive. The car runs flawlessly. It has a sports tuned suspension (electronically adjustable) coupled with an all-wheel drive system, all wheel steer system, and functioning Active Aero system that will allow you to hug the road like crazy. The powerplant is a 3.0L DOHC 24V Twin Turbo engine with the 6-speed manual transmission. The car is fully loaded, stock with no modifications. *** LOW RESERVE *** Functioning computer controlled active exhaust (2 modes - tour, sport) and active electronically controlled suspension (2 modes -- tour, sport) both selectable by dash switches. Functioning Active Aero in all modes selectable by console switch Full time all-wheel drive with center differential and electronic traction control 4 wheel steering w/ traction control computer (AWS - All wheel steering) 7 way adjustable drivers seat with 5 way power adjustments Black leather interior seats, steering wheel, shift knob and side panels Automatic climate control with fully functioning AC (very cold) and heat Full function cruise control (two stage with stand-by) Rear window wiper / washer Infinity Stereo system (AM/FM-2, Cassette, 6 disc CD changer) 240 watt, 8 speakers, separate amplifier, graphic equalizer, anti-theft control, steering wheel mounted remote controls, motorized antennae Rear window and side mirrors - electric defrost, front and side windows - heat defrost Removable sunroof with removable sunshade Belts recently changed New Battery Paint 7 out of 10 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XoOZi7NT4ug video of car running The car runs great. There are a few cosmetic problems. As with most 3000gt cars, the drivers seat leather has 2 tears, small tear in passenger side backseat entry pillar, and broken plastic trim piece for the sunroof (all pictured). I love this car and it is a blast to drive, but I must sell it due to an upcoming new addition to the family. The wife says I can only keep one of my 2 door cars, so this one has to go.

The 100,000th EV sold in the US is... a Mitsubishi i-MiEV

Fri, 12 Jul 2013

The news here isn't that 100,000 EVs have been sold in the US, although that's quite the accomplishment. It's that the 100,000th car is a Mitsubishi i-MiEV - a car that takes nearly a full day to recharge on a standard outlet and can only travel about 62 miles per charge (according to the car's Monroney).
Jabs at the Mitsubishi aside, the fact that US dealers have moved 100,000 electric cars is made more impressive in that it's only been done since the latest generation of EVs arrived, typified by the Nissan Leaf, Ford Focus Electric and aforementioned i-MiEV. Chronologically, that means roughly the last two years. It's a number that we can only expect to climb, as EVs gain a stronger foothold among manufacturers and consumers.
Plug In America, an EV advocacy group, crunched the numbers for a contest called #PIA100K, to find the lucky buyer, who would be given a ClipperCreek Level 2 charger (which takes the i-MiEV's recharge time down to just seven hours). The winner, Rich Salmon of Grand Bay, Alabama, picked up his i-MiEV from Pete Moore Mitsubishi.

Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution's curtain call will come with more power

Thu, 28 Aug 2014

We love the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X, but by this point, we've accepted the fact that the its days are numbered, despite the noticeable back and forth that accompanied rumors of the vehicle's future for so many months and years. And while the Evo's coming death in 2015 is pretty sad, a report from Automotive News claims that the road-going rally machine will at least be leaving with a fairly substantial bang.
According to AN, Mitsubishi will send off the Evo with a Special Action Model. Limited to between 2,000 to 2,500 units and destined exclusively for the United States, the Evo X SAM should boast, most notably, a bump in power for its 291-pony, 2.0-liter, turbocharged four-cylinder. There should be a few other performance tweaks to accompany the increased output, although it's unclear what those might be. AN claims the limited-edition model will drop during the last six months of Evo production, some time next year.
AN's report was confirmed to us by Mitsubishi spokesman Alex Fedorak, who said that, yes, there will be "a US special edition in 2015." We've asked for additional information, but all we've heard back, so far, is that mum's the word. Here's hoping we won't be waiting too long to get official details.

Camaro Z/28 and Mitsubishi Starion meet in this nostalgic vision of '87 Japan

Fri, 22 Aug 2014

The '80s is just far enough away now that it no longer seems like an era defined by Reagonomics and neon clothing. Filmmaker Matt Clark has embraced the look of the music videos of the decade in his new short film titled Orange Orchid, set in 1987 in Chiba and Yokohama, Japan. The video features some great sports coupes of the time and is set to the song I Know There's Something Going On from Abba-alum Frida (along with drumming and backup vocals from Phil Collins).
Clark really embraces the pop-culture look of the era's videos with big hair, a healthy dash of neon, inexplicable smoky rooms and big, over-wrought movements. However, the real stars for us are the pair of '80s sports coupes that also kind of personify the main characters. Nijo in her denim jacket has a modded Camaro Z/28 with huge, dished wheels sticking way out past the fenders. Naturally, the Chevy also features some great butterscotch paint and a car phone inside. Alex, the guy pursuing her, forgoes any obvious upgrades in favor a clean, all-white Mitsubishi Starion to go along with his tailored suit and giant cell phone.
We wish this video featured the cars a bit more prominently, but that drumbeat from Collins on this forgotten 80s gem is pretty fantastic, too. Give it a listen in the video.
