'02 Mini Cooper S,This  Mini was purchased new by my good friends in 2002 from Mini of Dublin, (MAG)Midwestern Auto Group in Dublin,Ohio. They are the only and original owners until they finally sold it to me this past November 2012.After purchasing they drove the car to their winter home on Hilton Head Island,S.C.,where it has spent it's entire life in a climate controlled garage and only driven seasonally around Hilton Head area.It is a excellent condtion, no-excuses, Best color combo,non-smoker,no accidents ,Time capsule. First year for the BMW Mini.I flew down to Hilton Head transferred the title(clear) and drove it back to Ohio on a clear dry day,Where it now is in my garage back in Ohio....not driven on salt or snow covered roads.Only take it out on nice days just to gets some heat & oil up in the motor. It also has a built in trickle battery charger to keep battery fully charged at all times.Fresh oil change(synthetic oil).Car performs flawlessly and is as new (at less than half the price).Car is being listed locally as well,So I reserve the right to end auction early to first buyer. Thanks for looking,The new owner will not be disappointed!Car is being re-listed because of an E-Bay member who bid and won and claimed his financing fell through! Please don't bid unless you have funds secured.I have clear title...will make easy transition to responsible buyer,Thank You.

Get lost in Evo's sublime 2013 Car of the Year testing

Fri, 08 Nov 2013

Every year Evo stages its Car of the Year test, bringing the best performance cars in the world to one location for an epic shootout. This year the magazine pitted eight CotY finalists against each other on Route Napoleon in Southern France - Evo claims it's the "best road in the world" - and then proceeded to nitpick the smallest of faults on each car until the winner could be named. You see, this year's lineup of machines was just so good that only one car obviously wasn't CotY material from the get-go. Can you guess which one judging from the list below?
- Aston Martin V12 Vantage S
- Audi R8 V10 Plus

Judge to approve settlement of Mini CVT lawsuits

Sun, 25 Aug 2013

BMW has agreed to settle a number of class-action lawsuits out of court. The suits stem from drivetrain issues on the 2001 to 2006 R50 Mini Cooper - in particular, its continuously variable transmission. The transmission was known to fail, often without warning on otherwise healthy and well-maintained vehicles. This wasn't the only major issue to afflict the original BMW-era Mini models.
According to legal site Topclassactions.com, the suits alleged that BMW knowingly hid the defects in the CVT from customers while informing dealers of the issue. The first suit was filed in 2011, while four additional suits have followed. Now, BMW has reportedly settled, offering to reimburse 1,200 owners that needed repairs within eight years or 150,000 miles of their purchase. Repair prices for the transmission range from $6,000 to $9,000.
Under the agreement, BMW will also offer up to $4,100 to members of the suit that had fixes performed at a third-party shop, while owners who sold their cars at a loss due to the issues are slated to receive up to $2,000. Finally, owners who are part of the suit will be warrantied for a further eight years and 150,000 miles.

How Mini shacked up with John Cooper

Fri, 31 Jan 2014

The late Sir Alexander Arnold Constantine Issigonis, Alec Issignonis to his Internet friends, designed a car that was sold as the Morris Mini-Minor, the Austin Seven and later the Austin Mini. Go to the Mini USA website and check out the models, though, and every one of them is called a Cooper of some sort, e.g., Mini Cooper Paceman or Mini Cooper S Roadster. So who is Cooper?
It's probably obvious that it's the same Cooper we get in "John Cooper Works," those JCW Minis that always make up the top of the line. But many probably don't know that that John Cooper, founder of John Cooper Cars, is the same man who accidentally got the motorsports world to switch to rear-engined race cars and the same Formula One constructor who won two titles in 1959 and 1960 and who fielded drivers like Bruce McLaren and Stirling Moss.
On its way to driving the Mini John Cooper Works GP II, XCAR goes back to the beginning to find out when Alec met John, and how the first Mini Cooper came out in 1961, two years after the first Mini. You can watch the story and the car review in the video below.
