2011 Mini Cooper B-spec Race Car Scca Road Racing, World Challenge , on 2040-cars
Eastlake, Ohio, United States
A professionally prepared race car, that was raced once by the original owner in the first Grand Am race at Miami-Homestead Speedway.
Since purchasing the car last season I have not had any mechanical problems with the car.My first race was the 2013 National at Mid-Oho where I was on the podium in my first weekend driving the car. I have driven the car two weekends so far this year. Mini has an SCCA logbook, and has passed tech inspection for 2014. You can literally take this car straight to a race weekend! I have two race seats available to be purchased with the car, one for drivers under 200 pounds, and the other is a big boy seat. Also have lead weights that can be used to adjust the total weight, and adjust corner weights to suit the new owner. Car comes with extra set of front and rear CarboTech brake pads, and a few other spares. I have a rebuilt title for car, the car can be streetable. Car can now be seen in Cleveland ,Ohio ,by appointment. Call 304-343-2277 for details. Willing to assist new owner with pick-up of the car, buyers responsibility to make transportation arrangements. We reserve the right to cancel all bids and end an auction early should the vehicle no longer be available for sale. The successful high bidder will submit a $500 deposit within 1 Day of the close of the auction to secure the vehicle. Classic Rover Mini is a passion-inspiring plaything
Sun, 01 Sep 2013Ask anyone that's driven a classic Mini, and they'll probably tell you that their first reaction to driving it was a lot like the start of this video - whooping, shouting, laughing and a whole lot of smiling. This video, from Jon Quirk, editor-in-chief at Auto Trader UK, highlights the connection between him and his Rover Mini Paul Smith. He really nails the man-machine interface that makes owning a great car so much fun. Besides that, Quirk does a good job of enumerating what is so enjoyable about driving a fun car on a twisting road.
For our British readers, this video is also meant to test the waters for a new format from Auto Trader UK, called "I Bought One." With Quirk's Mini, the car-buying site is looking at telling the story of people and their interesting cars. We think this video is a great start, with high production value and solid content. Head on over to the YouTube channel, and let them know what you think. But first, scroll on down for the entire video on this awesome Rover Mini.
2014 Mini John Cooper Works Countryman All4
Fri, 11 Apr 2014The standard Mini Countryman is a bit of an odd duck against the backdrop of 'normal' small crossovers like the Mazda CX-5 and the Ford Escape, but I sort of get it. Apply the same winning Mini formula to a CUV, and you get a smaller-than-average entry in the segment, one that is far more entertaining to drive than the norm, more stylish inside and out and pretty expensive when cross-shopped. That list of qualities doesn't appeal to all crossover shoppers, sure, but it intrigues a big enough list that the Countryman has reason for being.
Now, add the expensive John Cooper Works package to the Countryman's already niche goodies list, and Mini starts to lose me. So, I'm getting the softer suspended, taller, generally less dynamically joyful version of the brand's core values, but now you're charging me at least $35,000 ($13k more expensive than the basic, front-drive Cooper Countryman and $7k more than the MSRP of the Cooper S All4 version)? What's that? You're going to make it look like a garish, tippy-toed tuner car in the process? Take my money.
Or, actually, let me keep it. I can swing with a lot of the weirdness that Mini has to offer, but this car pushed me past my limit.
Production Mini Rocketman still in the cards, but not without a partner
Mon, 02 Dec 2013There's not really any way around it - the new Mini Hardtop isn't all that mini. Considering its supposed to be the smallest model in the brand's lineup, this is hardly desirable. It's good news, then, that rumors are cropping up of a smaller Mini, based on the well-received Rocketman Concept that debuted in 2011 at the Geneva Motor Show.
The report, which comes from our friends at AutoGuide, claims that a production Rocketman is still on the radar of Mini's product chief, Pat McKenna, despite being officially on hold. As Mckenna explained it to AG, "the only way it would happen would be if it was a partnership with another company."
See, the problem is that Mini's current UKL platform, which underpins the new Hardtop along with the future Mini range, is too large for the tiny Rocketman. And since developing new platforms isn't as easy as popping down to the shops for a gallon of milk (nor as cheap), it makes the need for an ally to split the costs a necessity. Success, so far, has been limited.
