Is excited to share this incredible, highly desireable 1949 Mercury Coupe Lead Sled Hotrod!

This beauty came to us by a local collector who is no longer able to drive. He purchased this car completely restored in 2002 and always kept it in a climately controlled garage.

I have seen and sold many Mercury hotrods over the years but never one like this. This 49 needs to be seen and driven to be appreciated. Lets start with the body:

The paint shines like new. No blemishes anywhere. The chrome may be the best part of the car. Brand new look all the way around. The 60's Desoto grill is massive and beautiful! The roof is dropped six inches. The headlights and taillights are French'd. As are the antenna ports. Hidden buttons under the rear fenders activate the door opener. The door handles, hood and trunk ornimants have been removed when it was nosed and decked. The car is lowered and is equipped with side pipes that are for show only. She does have duel glass packs. The caddy wheel covers, fender skirts and wide white tires really set this sexy car off!

All in all it was a masterfull restoration! Nothing on the body was ignored Thousands were spent on the paint alone.

The interior is tastefully done and in "like new" condition. The plush cloth interior is immaculate. No rips, tears or blemishes anywhere. The same can be said about the carpeting, dash and gauge package. The car is equipped with power windows, power seats, power doors, power steering and power disc front brakes and after market air conditioning that blows cold. Everything works to perfection.

The floor pans and complete under carriage are excellent. Not a hint of rust or damage anywhere.

I couldn't resist taking her down the road. The GM 350 small block and the 350 Turbo Highdromatic trans preformed like new. The car drives like new. Runs strong, fast and stops on a dime. The only annoying thing about this beauty are the people who constantly want to be photographed with it!

I'm certain I've forgotten some special options but it's safe to say that with more then $70k spent on the restoration, this is one of the most beautiful "bad ass" hotrods out there!

Unlike other classic car dealers who photograph their cars in professionally lighted studios or on Hollywood driveways, we at Fuzzy Dice shoot our treasures on our lot with nothing more then a point and shoot camera. So what you see is exactly what you get!

We are offering this amazing vehicle at what we think is a very reasonable "Buy it Now" price. All we ask is that those of you that are "first-time" eBay clients contact us before placing your bid.

Best of luck bidding!

Fitting Retirement: Grand Marquis last Mercury off the line

Wed, 05 Jan 2011

The signs have come down and retail production ended back in October of 2010. Now, the very last Mercury model has rolled off the assembly line. This last Mercury somewhat fittingly takes the form of a Grand Marquis reporting for fleet duty. It was built at the St. Thomas plant in Ontario, Canada, which is the same facility that continues to produce the Ford Crown Victoria and Lincoln Town Car for fleet and livery duty.
St. Thomas' days are numbered, however, as the factory is slated to close on August 31. When it goes, the Panther platform is likely to follow. So long, and thanks for all the fish memories.

Curtain officially comes down on Mercury as dealers remove signage

Mon, 03 Jan 2011

The process of shutting down the Mercury is complete. Ford officially made the decision to close its mid-level brand in June of 2010. In the months that followed, Ford offered its dealers money to stop selling the cars, with production shutting down in September. The last Mercury, a Mariner, rolled off the assembly line in the beginning of October and former spokesperson Jill Wagner said her good-byes to both the car and her job. Now the last piece of the brand has come down as dealers are removing any and all Mercury signage from their lots.

NHTSA closes rollaway investigation into 1.56M Ford SUVs

Mon, 11 Mar 2013

It's taken four years of study, but the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has finally closed the books on its investigation into rollaway accusations surrounding 1.56-million Ford SUV models.
The probe, which centered on the 2002-2005 Ford Explorer, 2002-2005 Mercury Mountaineer and 2003-2005 Lincoln Aviator, ends without the federal agency calling for a recall. According to The Detroit News, the investigation was closed due to a "low number of complaints" - NHTSA documented 180 such complaints that resulted in 14 crashes and six minor injuries, but the number of incidents have been slowing. The suspected defect rate for the trucks' automatic transmissions was found to be 4.4 per 100,000 units, and the brake-shift interlock mechanism failure rate was judged to be even lower at 3.4 per 100k.
