1999 Mercury Sable LS 4-dr Automatic Trans 200hp V-6 Twin Cam Motor 206,000 miles & purrs like a kitten 20mpg in the city, 28mpg highway
This car runs & drives like a new car. I have added many new features to it to bring it up to date with many 2013 cars. Great on gas milage, dependable, always starts & I have had this car since 2007 & have taken very good care of it. All scheduled maintenances have been performed. When this car needed anything I had it taken care of. Engine & Interior = 'perfect'. There is one small door ding on the drivers side rear passenger door. The only two items to mention mechanically is this...the driver door automatic door lock sticks sometimes (about 15% of the time) when the weather gets either very cold or very, very hot. When it sticks the wireless remote controls will not open the drivers door, you need to use one of the keys you will get with it to open the door however when the car is put into drive the door will automaticaaly lock! On rare ocassions the transmission shifting from 3rd to 4th gear plunger in a module located on the torque converter will stick for half a second but the car always shifts. This happens rearely but I want you to know this. You can't feel this, it just happens but in no way detracts from the reliability of this car. The car 'always' starts & runs as if it were new! It has a german engine & this engine is rated at being able to last over 300,000 to 400,000 miles! The only reason I'm selling this car is I bought a slightly newer car I have wanted for years & I can't afford to pay insurance on both cars so I have to let this one go. My loss is your gain, this is a very dependable & fun to drive car you can count on. All sales final & sold as is. Payment due within 7 days after winning bid & sold as-is. I prefer cash as PayPal will take a big chunk of chage to transfer any money from my Paypal account to my bank account but I will take PayPal if cash will not work. |

Ford's J Mays feels vindicated by Fusion reception
Tue, 25 Sep 2012It's hard to think back now, but the same man overseeing the design of the 2013 Ford Fusion also presided over a rather lackluster period in Ford design, highlighted by vehicles like the Five Hundred and Freestyle. With the redesigned Fusion receiving high praise, J Mays tells Automotive News that he feels vindicated from criticisms suggesting he's not a daring enough designer.
When Mays took over as lead of design in 1997, he admits to having quite an ego ("My head would barely fit through the door some days. I've long since gotten over myself") and the workload to match. With the Blue Oval's portfolio full of premium brands like Aston Martin, Jaguar, Land Rover and Volvo at that point, along with the bread-and-butter Ford, Lincoln and Mercury models, Mays certainly had quite the challenge.
It was in the mid-2000s that Mays took over just the premium brands, and took on the new title of Chief Creative Officer. At the time, Mays endured some criticism for looking backwards to retro styling, rather than setting a new standard for American car design - criticism that Mays says he is free from with the all-new Fusion.
Report: Last Mercury for retail business built on Sunday
Mon, 04 Oct 2010Ford is already well into winding down its Mercury line, and the autoamker has announced that the very last of the soon-to-be dead brand's products built for retail sales was manufactured on Sunday, October 3. The final Mercury Mariner rolled off of the assembly line at the company's Kansas City facility, putting an end to a brand with over 70 years of history behind it.
Even after the Mariner heads off into the automotive sunset, Ford says that it will continue to manufacture a handful of Mercury models for fleet and government service for a while longer, though mum's the word on how long we can expect that practice to continue.
Interestingly enough, according to USA Today, most incentives on Mercury vehicles have all but dried up, even as the brand's August production increased by 120 percent compared to July's figures. Instead of cash on the hood, some areas are offering no-cost maintenance or similar programs. Even so, Mercury has continued to out-sell Lincoln right to the end - besting Ford's luxury arm's sales by nine percent in August.
Ford Recalling 70k Escape and Mariner Hybrids for cooling issue
Fri, 12 Sep 2014Ford is recalling about 70,209 examples of the 2005-2008 Ford Escape Hybrid and the 2006-2008 Mercury Mariner Hybrid because the cooling pumps for their hybrid systems could fail.
According to the company's defect notice, it's possible for the original "Motor Electronics Coolant (MEC) Pump" to wear out and fail, which would could cause the hybrid system to overheat. If this happens, the vehicle goes into a safety mode that takes away most or all of its power. However, braking and steering still operate normally. After cooling down, the affected models restart normally. The company says that it's not aware of any accidents or injuries related to this problem.
Ford will begin repairing the vehicles in late October, and dealers will be installing improved, brushless pumps on the affected models at no charge to owners. If drivers had their pumps fail before this recall, they can contact Ford for a possible reimbursement.
