However, although it does have some rust as expected on a 23 year old car near the bottom, and near the door handles. it had autoarmor coating on it when it was bought, so it has kept it preserved fairly well. It needs a new valve from a junkyard, doesnt cost very much, and isnt too hard to replace. It does run, and is driveable. AC does not work. The car did not come with a lock for the rear, so i took out the lock cylinder, which i still have, and i use a flat screwdriver to open it. The right hand wheelmount in the front is rusted or broken, however, this does not affect the performance of the car at all, other than a weird noise every once in while when you turn"

I recieved this car back from a old mexican guy who had it and drove it to the local factory to work and home every day. i replaced the drive shafts, and some other stuff in the front as it was in need of replacing. New distributer cap, new plug wires. The brakes are in good condition. The AC does not work, but it does have it. 100 bucks will make it work. The major thing i like about it is that it has a trailer hitch in back for lightweight hauling, along with a roof rack on top. Local pickup only. Would make a good car for someone with a little more work, or if you're a collector lookign to get cars that will be classics in the near future.

Curtain officially comes down on Mercury as dealers remove signage

Mon, 03 Jan 2011

The process of shutting down the Mercury is complete. Ford officially made the decision to close its mid-level brand in June of 2010. In the months that followed, Ford offered its dealers money to stop selling the cars, with production shutting down in September. The last Mercury, a Mariner, rolled off the assembly line in the beginning of October and former spokesperson Jill Wagner said her good-byes to both the car and her job. Now the last piece of the brand has come down as dealers are removing any and all Mercury signage from their lots.

Ford recalls Five Hundred, Mercury Montego sedans over fuel tank woes

Mon, 18 Jul 2011

Ford has announced through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration that it is recalling nearly 3,000 examples of its Five Hundred and Mercury Montego (pictured) sedans from the 2007 model year.
The action, which affects 2,945 vehicles, is due to potentially defective welds between the filler neck and the fuel tank, a condition that could result in a fuel leak or the smell of gasoline reaching the occupants. In the worst-case scenario, a leak could cause a fire. Cars with the affected fuel tank problem could see an illuminated dashboard warning light as a result of the evaporative emissions leak being detected.
Ford will inspect and replace the fuel tank at no cost to owners (those who have already had the procedure done at-cost can apply for reimbursement), and the Dearborn automaker will begin notifying Five Hundred and Montego owners beginning August 15. Check out the official NHTSA press release after the jump for further details.

Preposed class-action lawsuit targets 'defective' MyFord Touch

Tue, 16 Jul 2013

A national law firm, Hagens Berman Sobol Shapiro LLP, has filed a proposed class action lawsuit whose presupposition is that MyFord Touch is defective. Specifically, the complaint states that the system - as well as the MyLincoln Touch and MyMercury Touch clones - often freeze, fail to respond to voice or touch commands and have issues connecting to mobile phones.
According to Hagens Berman managing partner Steve Berman, MyFord Touch is a theoretically "brilliant idea" that falls short in actual execution. Said Berman in a press release, "In reality, the system is fundamentally flawed, failing to reliably provide functionality, amounting to an inconvenience at best, and a serious safety issue at worst."
Other MFT issues enumerated within the 41-page filing include problems controlling the window defroster, rear-view camera and navigation system. The suit maintains that Ford is aware of the problem but has yet to submit a workable and acceptable solution to MFT customers. Scroll down if you'd like to read the full press release.
