Selling my wife's nice, clean and loaded 2002 Mercury Mountaineer SUV V-8 4.6L AWD Automatic. Get ready for the winter storms. It has been well maintained with power everything with leather all around. It has Multi CD player, sliding sunroof, third row seats, heated seats, tow package, running boards, top rack, dual heat/cold air, rear air, alloy wheels, key-less entry to mention few things. It has around 161,000 miles, mostly highway miles. It will seat 7+ people easily. The engine is very strong and starts first time, every time. No engine light on and lots of life left on this SUV. The battery is brand new as well as the back rotors and brakes but it will be needing new tires soon. Inspected until 3/14 in PA. The right passenger back fender has a rust spot but nothing too major. The steering wheel is not centered due to the fact that the last owner had the front end aligned but the mechanic didn't zero out the steering wheel first but it rides well and it can be easily adjusted back to center if wanted. Right passenger side view mirror doesn't move with auto adjustment. Tight cornering will make the wheels jump sometimes but this is common to these SUVs I was told since it is AWD. Driver's seat has the usual wear and tear from normal usage, please see the pics provided. Recently, few times my wife noticed slight slippage in the 1st gear and second gear first thing in the morning when the weather was cold but it just might need some transmission fluid I was told by some people but who knows... I am not a mechanic so, I really don't know. I just want to be honest and disclose everything that I am aware of. Highly recommended for the interested buyers to come by for an inspection first. Good Luck.

Ford Recalling 70k Escape and Mariner Hybrids for cooling issue

Fri, 12 Sep 2014

Ford is recalling about 70,209 examples of the 2005-2008 Ford Escape Hybrid and the 2006-2008 Mercury Mariner Hybrid because the cooling pumps for their hybrid systems could fail.
According to the company's defect notice, it's possible for the original "Motor Electronics Coolant (MEC) Pump" to wear out and fail, which would could cause the hybrid system to overheat. If this happens, the vehicle goes into a safety mode that takes away most or all of its power. However, braking and steering still operate normally. After cooling down, the affected models restart normally. The company says that it's not aware of any accidents or injuries related to this problem.
Ford will begin repairing the vehicles in late October, and dealers will be installing improved, brushless pumps on the affected models at no charge to owners. If drivers had their pumps fail before this recall, they can contact Ford for a possible reimbursement. Report: Last Mercury for retail business built on Sunday

Mon, 04 Oct 2010

Ford is already well into winding down its Mercury line, and the autoamker has announced that the very last of the soon-to-be dead brand's products built for retail sales was manufactured on Sunday, October 3. The final Mercury Mariner rolled off of the assembly line at the company's Kansas City facility, putting an end to a brand with over 70 years of history behind it.
Even after the Mariner heads off into the automotive sunset, Ford says that it will continue to manufacture a handful of Mercury models for fleet and government service for a while longer, though mum's the word on how long we can expect that practice to continue.
Interestingly enough, according to USA Today, most incentives on Mercury vehicles have all but dried up, even as the brand's August production increased by 120 percent compared to July's figures. Instead of cash on the hood, some areas are offering no-cost maintenance or similar programs. Even so, Mercury has continued to out-sell Lincoln right to the end - besting Ford's luxury arm's sales by nine percent in August.

NHTSA will investigate some Ford Fusion, Lincoln MKZ models for power steering issue

Tue, 07 Oct 2014

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is opening an investigation into the 2010-2012 Ford Fusion, Fusion Hybrid and Lincoln MKZ, the 2012 MKZ Hybrid and 2011 Mercury Milan because the agency has hundreds of complaints of electric power steering failure in these models.
According to NHTSA's data, it has received 508 complaints of the power steering allegedly suddenly malfunctioning and resulting in increased effort to turn the wheel. In four incidents, these failures resulted in loss of control and crashes. According to the reports, in some cases a power steering warning message came on as the fault occurred, and other times the system restored itself by turning off and then restarting the vehicle. NHTSA said it has also received further field report data from Ford, but that information hasn't been publicly released yet.
For the moment, there isn't a recall for this failure on these models. NHTSA is just investigating them to "assess the scope, frequency and safety consequences of the alleged defect," and the agency says an estimated 938,000 vehicles could potentially be affected.
