CONTACT JEFF AT 570 977 0741. Up for sale and your consideration is an absolutely gorgeous 1957 Mercury Monterey 2-Door Sedan equipped with a 312c.i. V8 engine and super rare three speed manual transmission. This is what I refer to as a "Show me another one !" car. The odometer reads 41,816 ORIGINAL MILES and is absolutely 100% believable based on the stunning original condition of this vehicle. Also the title shows the mileage and the odometer status on the title is ACTUAL MILEAGE. This car is in turn key drive home and enjoy immediately today condition. You could not restore this car for the price that it is being offered at. If you could even find one to restore that is equipped such as this Mercury is. All areas of this car appear to be all original with the exception of one repaint some time ago. Close inspection of the paint job reveals some minor touch-ups, but presents extremely well. The eye pleasing two tone paint and new wide whites give this car the classic 50's look. The motor fires right up and runs great. The brakes work fine and car stops well. The clutch is strong and shifting is effortless and it drives great. Inside and out this car looks absolutely fantastic ! The rarity of this car and it's condition speaks for itself. Breakdown of the numbers on the VIN & DATA plate indicate that the car was built in Los Angeles , California on June 6th, 1957, which explains the quad headlights only found on 1957 Montereys built later in the model year. The paint code of 258 designates the Classic White/Brazilian Bronze/Classic White color combination. The 754 Trim code designates a Gold/Light Gold interior. Rugs are in excellent condition and have Mercury embossed into the driver's side foot pad. Headliner and glass are all perfect. Gauges all work as they should. This is also a super rare radio and clock delete car. Another "show me another one" feature. This car is a California rust free car. It spent some time in Minnesota and a short time in Pennsylvania, but the rust free condition indicates it was never driven in bad weather and was always garage kept and very well maintained. All chrome and stainless trim are in superb condition. There is a short piece of stainless trim missing from the right rain gutter towards the front. The left tail light lens has a crack. The trunk mat & filler panels are original and in great shape including original jacking instructions. Headlights, parking lights, tail lights, stop lights and turn signals are all working. Wipers and heater also work. Windows roll up and down with ease. As shown in the one photo there is dealer brochures, tune up charts, and a color chip chart that go with the car. If any prospective buyer has any questions as to the stunning condition and integrity of this car I welcome, encourage, and strongly suggest an in-person viewing of this car by appointment. The pictures of this car don't do it justice. It should be seen in person to be appreciated. I have even put this car up on a lift to show the completely solid rust free undercarriage. I have many more photos of the car available to send to any prospective buyer. Just call and ask for them. This car would be a hit at any car show, and would draw a lot of attention because of it's condition and rarity. It would make a great addition to a Mercury collection or any collection. I have a clean Pennsylvania title in hand for this car ready for transfer to the new owner. The title must be legally and properly transferred as well.

Curtain officially comes down on Mercury as dealers remove signage
Mon, 03 Jan 2011The process of shutting down the Mercury is complete. Ford officially made the decision to close its mid-level brand in June of 2010. In the months that followed, Ford offered its dealers money to stop selling the cars, with production shutting down in September. The last Mercury, a Mariner, rolled off the assembly line in the beginning of October and former spokesperson Jill Wagner said her good-byes to both the car and her job. Now the last piece of the brand has come down as dealers are removing any and all Mercury signage from their lots.

NHTSA probing 2000-2003 Ford Taurus and Mercury Sable models over throttle issue
Mon, 29 Oct 2012A potential issue with the speed control cable collar has got the 2003-20003 Ford Taurus and Mercury Sable under the spotlight of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. If the collar breaks it can cause the throttle to be stuck open.
The issue is limited to vehicles with the 3.0-liter V6 Duratec. There are just 50 complaints so far out of 310,000 cars, but the NHTSA has begun an investigation into whether a recall should be issued.
Fitting Retirement: Grand Marquis last Mercury off the line
Wed, 05 Jan 2011The signs have come down and retail production ended back in October of 2010. Now, the very last Mercury model has rolled off the assembly line. This last Mercury somewhat fittingly takes the form of a Grand Marquis reporting for fleet duty. It was built at the St. Thomas plant in Ontario, Canada, which is the same facility that continues to produce the Ford Crown Victoria and Lincoln Town Car for fleet and livery duty.
St. Thomas' days are numbered, however, as the factory is slated to close on August 31. When it goes, the Panther platform is likely to follow. So long, and thanks for all the fish memories.
