1954 Mercury Monterey 2DR Hardtop. Restored approx. 8 years ago and still in great condition. Recent work includes; rebuilt original Y-Block 256V8 engine (1st year - finished in its correct colors), rebuilt original tea-cup design 4BRL carburetor, reconditioned original Merc-O-Matic transmission, rebuilt duel-stage fuel pump, rebuilt water and oil pumps, rebuilt generator, reconditioned radiator, new gas tank, new shocks and new tires, new heater motor, electronic points. It has been professionally converted to a 12V system to allow for A/C. All that's left is to drive it. And its a wonderful car to drive. Straight and true. The car brakes the same as it drives. It cruises at highway speeds with ease. The body is all steel with no rust or patch panels anywhere. The chassis is solid and clean. It has duel exhaust and a wonderful low rumble like a fifties car should sound. The interior is in excellent condition. No stains on the headliner. No worn areas on the seats or door panels. The paint is in very good condition. The chrome does have light scratches but there in no pitting anywhere. The original radio or clock has not been converted to 12V. All the gauges and lights work. The owners manual, service manual and jack are included. It has seatbelts front and rear. I have put thousands more into this car above the reserve but I just bought my 1st car - a 1951 Ford - so this one must go. You will not be disappointed with this car. The rebuilt engine has approx. 500 miles on it. Click on the Zoom to see larger photos. New feature from EBAY.
The vehicle should be assumed to have some degree of
wear. It is for this reason the vehicle is sold "AS IS" and there are
no mechanical guarantees expressed or implied. But what we have stated
above is true. |

NHTSA probing 2000-2003 Ford Taurus and Mercury Sable models over throttle issue
Mon, 29 Oct 2012A potential issue with the speed control cable collar has got the 2003-20003 Ford Taurus and Mercury Sable under the spotlight of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. If the collar breaks it can cause the throttle to be stuck open.
The issue is limited to vehicles with the 3.0-liter V6 Duratec. There are just 50 complaints so far out of 310,000 cars, but the NHTSA has begun an investigation into whether a recall should be issued.
Report: Last Mercury for retail business built on Sunday
Mon, 04 Oct 2010Ford is already well into winding down its Mercury line, and the autoamker has announced that the very last of the soon-to-be dead brand's products built for retail sales was manufactured on Sunday, October 3. The final Mercury Mariner rolled off of the assembly line at the company's Kansas City facility, putting an end to a brand with over 70 years of history behind it.
Even after the Mariner heads off into the automotive sunset, Ford says that it will continue to manufacture a handful of Mercury models for fleet and government service for a while longer, though mum's the word on how long we can expect that practice to continue.
Interestingly enough, according to USA Today, most incentives on Mercury vehicles have all but dried up, even as the brand's August production increased by 120 percent compared to July's figures. Instead of cash on the hood, some areas are offering no-cost maintenance or similar programs. Even so, Mercury has continued to out-sell Lincoln right to the end - besting Ford's luxury arm's sales by nine percent in August.
NHTSA investigating 725k Ford, Mercury vehicles for stalling issue
Mon, 25 Feb 2013Owners of Ford Escape, Mercury Mariner, Ford Fusion and Mercury Milan models, listen up. According to a report on Automotive News, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has opened an investigation into these four vehicles totaling an estimated 725,000 units. The investigation appears to center around a malfunctioning throttle body on non-hybrid models of the 2005-2012 Escape and 2011-2012 Fusion. With Mercury dying off after the 2011 model year, this probe will also apply to the 2005 through 2011 Mariner and the 2011 Milan. There has been some discussion around the Escape stalling issue for some time now, but this investigation appears to be larger in scope than before.
Though not a recall yet, NHTSA's Office of Defects Investigation (ODI) has received 123 complaints of stalling or surging vehicles, while Ford itself has logged 1,472 complaints. The investigation report, which is posted below, seems to indicate that a faulty circuit board for the throttle body could cause the vehicle to go into limp mode, which, according to NHTSA, could cause complaints of both stalling and surging.
