2008 Mercury Grand Marquis Ls Sedan 4-door 4.6l on 2040-cars
Maricopa, Arizona, United States
Offered is my wife’s 2008 Mercury Grand Marquis LS which is smoke and pet free. Options on car: WSW Tires, FULL size spare tire on black steel wheel. Premium 6 CD/Satellite (Sat receiver not installed) Radio–with aftermarket iPod Adapter for YOUR iPod connected via SAT button on radio, California Emissions, wheel locks and locking gas/fuel cap. Many standard items on this car including dual 6 way seats with lower back support, power door and trunk lock, fog lights, adjustable brake/gas pedals, rear air spring suspension. Car was never involved in any accident. As with any 80,000 mile vehicle, there are some minor paint touch ups. I will include the touch up paint for your future use. The tires are about 70% worn which is reflected in the price. It didn’t pay to install new tires as the warranty would be voided to a new owner. Other than that, this is a turn key car meaning there are no known problems as everything works as designed. This car has NEVER been exposed to rock salt, snow or ice, therefore there is no rot. Interior and trunk lighting has been upgraded to white LEDs. This can revert back to factory style lighting easily. I did change the front seat armrests for ones with storage compartments. They were the wrong shade of gray, so I dyed them. The leftover dye will be included as it matched the interior color. Please note that the upgraded armrests made this car into a 5 passenger vehicle. If you do not like or want them, I am willing to reinstall the factory units that have no storage. There is an external transmission oil filter installed to make sure the transmission fluid is clean. I used Mobil 1 engine oil from day one. When I changed/flushed the transmission fluid, I used Mobil 1 synthetic transmission fluid. I kept this car under a severe usage maintenance schedule due to some dust in my area. Most likely that was not required but I wanted to be sure. The air filter was changed every 10,000 miles--far earlier than the usual 30,000 miles. I have included my maintenance records to show what and when service was done. If you have question about this car, ask me a question as I am hiding nothing. My wife is the second owner of this car. A business friend owned the car for just a few months as she was transferred to Europe and didn’t take the car. We learned about that after she returned the car to the Dealership. Since we liked the car, we purchased it right away with 3,875 miles on it in May 2008. I recommend to have a professional to inspect this car as I have nothing to hide. I usually do not allow unknown persons to test drive my cars as I do not know that person’s driving skills or intent. The only thing that should show up on any Internet check of this car is a case of vandalism–the tires were ice picked at a local mall in 2009. All of the tires were replaced and are filled with nitrogen. Interior windows were tinted and all door windows have vent covers on them--easy to remove if you don't like them. No personal items that are visible in photos are included. I can store car at my location for a few weeks if paid in full. For out of State or Country purchaser, arrangements can be made for your pick up at the SkyHarbor, Phoenix AZ Airport. You must have a PayPal account to bid on this vehicle. IF YOUR FEEDBACK RATING IS LESS THAN 10, YOU ARE REQUIRED TO CONTACT ME FIRST BEFORE BIDDING. OTHERWISE, I’LL REMOVE/CANCEL YOUR BID. I've been an eBay seller for over ten years with a 100% feedback rating. My 2007 Town Car was sold on eBay in December 2013 and is now in Germany. A 2008 Mercury Grand Marquis with posted maintenance records is hard to find. Please view all of the posted photos. I even took one while washing the car to show how the water beads up due to the waxing of this vehicle. This car was garaged kept and is in very good condition with a Kelly Blue Book value of $9,266 2008 Mercury Grand Marquis 2MEHM75V58X616633 April 17, 2014 Oil & Filter changes 05/14/08 Oil and Filter changed Mobil 1 5W20 6Qts. NHTSA upgrades Ford floor mat unintended acceleration probe
Mon, 17 Dec 2012According to a Bloomberg report, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has upgraded an investigation into complaints of unintended acceleration lodged against Ford vehicles. The investigation began in June of 2010 when just three complaints had been received and it only concerned the Ford Fusion and Mercury Milan, but this was at a time when the phrase "unintended acceleration" made grown men go pale. With 49 additional complaints received since then, the investigation has been reclassified as an engineering analysis - the last phase before a recall - and it has been expanded to include the Lincoln MKZ, making for a total of "around 480,000" units affected between the three sedans from the 2008 to 2010 model years.
The ostensible cause is that floor mats are trapping the accelerator pedal, but according to a Ford statement at the time, the entrapment is due to owners placing the optional all-weather floor mats, or aftermarket floor mats, on top of the car's standard floor mats. NHTSA has backed up that assessment, pinning the blame on "unsecured or double stacked floor mats."
On the face of it, it would appear that NHTSA has upgraded the status not because of Ford's error, but owner error, and Ford has stated publicly that it is "disappointed" in NHTSA's move. On top of NHTSA still being skittish after that other unintended acceleration debacle, it could be seen to be taking its time investigating all of the variables: it's reported that Ford changed its accelerator pedal design in 2010, a "heel blocker" in the floorpan has been considered a potential culprit in how the floor mats could be trapping the pedal, some drivers have said the floor mats weren't anywhere near the pedal, and according to a report in the LA Times, in "a letter sent by Ford to NHTSA in August 2010, the automaker said it found three injuries and one fatality that 'may have resulted from the alleged defect.'"
Curtain officially comes down on Mercury as dealers remove signage
Mon, 03 Jan 2011The process of shutting down the Mercury is complete. Ford officially made the decision to close its mid-level brand in June of 2010. In the months that followed, Ford offered its dealers money to stop selling the cars, with production shutting down in September. The last Mercury, a Mariner, rolled off the assembly line in the beginning of October and former spokesperson Jill Wagner said her good-byes to both the car and her job. Now the last piece of the brand has come down as dealers are removing any and all Mercury signage from their lots.

NHTSA investigating 725k Ford, Mercury vehicles for stalling issue
Mon, 25 Feb 2013Owners of Ford Escape, Mercury Mariner, Ford Fusion and Mercury Milan models, listen up. According to a report on Automotive News, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has opened an investigation into these four vehicles totaling an estimated 725,000 units. The investigation appears to center around a malfunctioning throttle body on non-hybrid models of the 2005-2012 Escape and 2011-2012 Fusion. With Mercury dying off after the 2011 model year, this probe will also apply to the 2005 through 2011 Mariner and the 2011 Milan. There has been some discussion around the Escape stalling issue for some time now, but this investigation appears to be larger in scope than before.
Though not a recall yet, NHTSA's Office of Defects Investigation (ODI) has received 123 complaints of stalling or surging vehicles, while Ford itself has logged 1,472 complaints. The investigation report, which is posted below, seems to indicate that a faulty circuit board for the throttle body could cause the vehicle to go into limp mode, which, according to NHTSA, could cause complaints of both stalling and surging.
