Here's your chance to own a SUPER nice restorable 1971 Cougar.

The Car runs and drives with no issues, other than a stuck choke when starting. Strong 351C-2V engine and c-6 tranny. The car has a small 2" rust hole in passenger side floor, other floors great. Carpet and interior in good condition. Headliner is perfect. No radio. Clock does not work. A/c missing belt. Never tried it. All the chrome is in good condition and intact. Small crack on dash pad.  Some small rust bubbles in front of hood and door drop offs. The down side to this car is it needs a roof reskin and the vinyl top replaced. Very rusty under top. Bought the car and have no time to do it. Willing to sell for what we have in to it, so the buy it now price is the bottom line. No trades wanted. Have clean title and receipts since new in FL. I have the build sheet, the window sticker, and all repairs since new. Third owner. Have driven the car to Daytona and back with no issues. Ran great. We are only offering this car for sale because we own (4) Cougars, and its just one too many, and this one needs the roof reskin. We bought two cars after this, and they need little work. This one needs a loving home to someone who can do the top and minimal things she needs. It has an exhaust leak on the right front manifold where it meets the collector, and have not repaired it for fear of breaking the bolt, so it sounds a slight thump thump thump on that side. This is truly a great car in an unusual original color. Have Marti report. Reskin the top and you have a great car with very little other work to do.  The rear seat plastic side panels have some sun rot deterioration on them shown in photos. Have not found replacements for them. I have new seat backs to be installed. The front grille and rear tail lights just restored and repainted. The rear valance is not factory.

There is a walk around video I can email to you.

NHTSA closes probes on Jeep Grand Cherokee, Ford Freestar and Mercury Monterey

Wed, 09 Jan 2013

The Detroit News reports the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has officially closed its investigations into 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee, 2004-2005 Ford Freestar and Mercury Monterey models. The separate probes found no issues that pose safety concerns. NHTSA began investigating certain Grand Cherokee SUVs over complaints that power steering hoses could detach during operation, thereby increasing the risk of a vehicle fire. Of the 24 reports of failure, none alleged smoke or fire in the engine bay, and Chrysler has since modified the power steering cooler assembly to reduce the likelihood of the failure.
Meanwhile, certain Ford Freestar and Mercury Monterey vehicles garnered a government probe after receiving complaints that the models were equipped with faulty scissor jacks. The agency had received six reports of the jacks failing or causing injuries, including one incident that resulted in a fatality. But NHTSA says the jack failure rate is similar to those found in other vehicles. In those six cases, the government agency found the jacks were being used for something other than changing a tire, and investigators could not determine whether the emergency brake was set or the rear tires were properly chocked.

Automakers tussle over owners of 'orphan' makes

Thu, 10 May 2012

When General Motors put down several of its brands in recent years, it also let loose thousands of brand-loyal customers who will eventually need another car.
R.L. Polk Associates estimates there are more than 18 million cars from 16 discontinued makes on the road today. Those "orphan owners" have sales-hungry competitors seeing dollar signs. GM is offering Saturn owners $1,000 cash toward a Chevy Cruze, Cadillac CTS or a GMC Acadia. Ford is giving its Mercury lease customers a chance to get out of their contracts with no early-termination penalty and offering to waive six remaining payments if they drive off in a Ford or Lincoln.
Edmunds.com research shows the efforts are paying off somewhat for GM, with 39 percent of Pontiac owners, 37 percent of Hummer owners and 31 percent of Saturn owners taking delivery of another GM-branded vehicle. But that leaves as much as 69 percent of owners going elsewhere. Ford, Honda and Toyota seem to be attracting many former GM owners.

Ford Recalling 70k Escape and Mariner Hybrids for cooling issue

Fri, 12 Sep 2014

Ford is recalling about 70,209 examples of the 2005-2008 Ford Escape Hybrid and the 2006-2008 Mercury Mariner Hybrid because the cooling pumps for their hybrid systems could fail.
According to the company's defect notice, it's possible for the original "Motor Electronics Coolant (MEC) Pump" to wear out and fail, which would could cause the hybrid system to overheat. If this happens, the vehicle goes into a safety mode that takes away most or all of its power. However, braking and steering still operate normally. After cooling down, the affected models restart normally. The company says that it's not aware of any accidents or injuries related to this problem.
Ford will begin repairing the vehicles in late October, and dealers will be installing improved, brushless pumps on the affected models at no charge to owners. If drivers had their pumps fail before this recall, they can contact Ford for a possible reimbursement.
