Here is a 1969 Mercury Cougar Eliminator body shell with some of the Eliminator parts including the hood scoop, the original rear plastic spoiler and the original fron chin spoiler. Both spoilers are damaged but could possibly be repaired. This car was delivered in North Carolina and has a clear North Carolina title and the original owners manual. It was a blue blue car with an automatic and a Windsor four barrell engine. It has been hit in the passenger quarter and fixed at one time and also got a bump in the rear. I used to restore Mustangs and Cougars but got burned out when prices went nuts. This car is shell only and what you see is what you will get. I will not in any way ship this car. You will have to pick it up. I will not sell any parts away from this car and I will not do a buy it now. It will need a full restoration and a lot of parts but for what I am starting this at the hood scoop is worth more. It will need at very least a passenger quarter, two doors,a hood and trunk lid and an engine and tranny and all the glass and all the interior. I have a bunch of small leftover stuff for Mustangs and Cougars that will go with it.Nothing really valuable just stuff. I have the Marti Report for this car also. It has been stored inside for over 10 years and now it is outside so it is time to go. It is a restorable car but is pretty beat up. Remember that I will not ship this and it must be picked up. It can stay where it is at for a month and then it must go.

Fitting Retirement: Grand Marquis last Mercury off the line

Wed, 05 Jan 2011

The signs have come down and retail production ended back in October of 2010. Now, the very last Mercury model has rolled off the assembly line. This last Mercury somewhat fittingly takes the form of a Grand Marquis reporting for fleet duty. It was built at the St. Thomas plant in Ontario, Canada, which is the same facility that continues to produce the Ford Crown Victoria and Lincoln Town Car for fleet and livery duty.
St. Thomas' days are numbered, however, as the factory is slated to close on August 31. When it goes, the Panther platform is likely to follow. So long, and thanks for all the fish memories.

NHTSA investigating 725k Ford, Mercury vehicles for stalling issue

Mon, 25 Feb 2013

Owners of Ford Escape, Mercury Mariner, Ford Fusion and Mercury Milan models, listen up. According to a report on Automotive News, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has opened an investigation into these four vehicles totaling an estimated 725,000 units. The investigation appears to center around a malfunctioning throttle body on non-hybrid models of the 2005-2012 Escape and 2011-2012 Fusion. With Mercury dying off after the 2011 model year, this probe will also apply to the 2005 through 2011 Mariner and the 2011 Milan. There has been some discussion around the Escape stalling issue for some time now, but this investigation appears to be larger in scope than before.
Though not a recall yet, NHTSA's Office of Defects Investigation (ODI) has received 123 complaints of stalling or surging vehicles, while Ford itself has logged 1,472 complaints. The investigation report, which is posted below, seems to indicate that a faulty circuit board for the throttle body could cause the vehicle to go into limp mode, which, according to NHTSA, could cause complaints of both stalling and surging.

Ford announces free brake pad offer if customers stop by dealers

Mon, 04 Aug 2014

These days, when you buy a new car, it's not unreasonable to expect a certain period of free maintenance to come along as well. Sometimes this is through the life of the warranty, in other cases a little less. But Ford Motor Company is going beyond those deals for at least one part of its cars. As of now, if you buy a set of Motorcraft brake pads for a Ford, Lincoln or Mercury model, you get free replacements for as long as you own the vehicle. The offer is good at Ford or Lincoln dealers and Quick Lane Tire & Auto Centers.
"We will replace the pads for as long as you own the vehicle," said Elizabeth Weigandt to Autoblog. She did clarify that the Motorcraft pads are generally for models from the '90s or newer. Also, to take advantage of this program, a person must return to the same dealer each time to get the free parts.
Of course, Ford isn't just handing out brake pads to anyone who walks by; there are certain stipulations. First, the components have to be worn down to less than three millimeters to be eligible, and the buyer still has to pay for the labor to install them. If the model is used as a fleet vehicle for commercial purposes like as a taxi or limousine, this offer also doesn't apply; the same thing for racecars. On the plus side, if you recently bought a set of pads from one of the participating locations, you're still in luck. The deal covers parts purchased as of July 1.
