Selling a 1969 Cougar XR-7 project car. This was a daily driver when purchased in 2000 and parked in a shop. It has not been moved since. I put a battery in it and some gas in the carb, and it fired right up. SHOULD be a runner/driver as nothing has been removed or changed, but I am selling it as-is as a non-operable project.
Clear title. Loaded car including tachometer and gauge package, courtesy light group, leather interior, bucket seats and console, power disc brakes, power steering, more. Dash is in beautiful condition without any cracks. Gauges look good; tachometer works. Console great, too. Back seat and side panels are excellent, passenger seat could be dyed and used, driver's bucket has some damage. Headliner is partially down and damaged. Door panels are nice both sides; d/s is off to lube up window regulator; working fine now. Glass good all around. Engine is original and untouched other than wrong air cleaner lid. It had A/C originally, but the compressor is no longer present. The car overall is pretty darn straight. There is one small dent in the lower d/s front fender where it meets the door. There is surface rust where the repaint has failed as shown in the pictures. The only apparent rust-through is at the lower edge of the rear window channel. Trunk looks solid and floors feel solid, rockers are sound, etc. Original color was light blue; current is a repaint in darker blue. You may call me at 360-936-9257 with any questions you may have. Curtain officially comes down on Mercury as dealers remove signage
Mon, 03 Jan 2011The process of shutting down the Mercury is complete. Ford officially made the decision to close its mid-level brand in June of 2010. In the months that followed, Ford offered its dealers money to stop selling the cars, with production shutting down in September. The last Mercury, a Mariner, rolled off the assembly line in the beginning of October and former spokesperson Jill Wagner said her good-byes to both the car and her job. Now the last piece of the brand has come down as dealers are removing any and all Mercury signage from their lots.

Report: Last Mercury for retail business built on Sunday
Mon, 04 Oct 2010Ford is already well into winding down its Mercury line, and the autoamker has announced that the very last of the soon-to-be dead brand's products built for retail sales was manufactured on Sunday, October 3. The final Mercury Mariner rolled off of the assembly line at the company's Kansas City facility, putting an end to a brand with over 70 years of history behind it.
Even after the Mariner heads off into the automotive sunset, Ford says that it will continue to manufacture a handful of Mercury models for fleet and government service for a while longer, though mum's the word on how long we can expect that practice to continue.
Interestingly enough, according to USA Today, most incentives on Mercury vehicles have all but dried up, even as the brand's August production increased by 120 percent compared to July's figures. Instead of cash on the hood, some areas are offering no-cost maintenance or similar programs. Even so, Mercury has continued to out-sell Lincoln right to the end - besting Ford's luxury arm's sales by nine percent in August.

Ford has announced five separate recalls, affecting 202,000 vehicles built between 2005 and 2014.
It's not been a great couple of weeks for Ford. On October 30, the company announced a 205,000-unit recall, and yesterday, it was revealed that the Ford brand's year-over-year sales were down over 5,000 units while the company itself was down 3,000 units over through October. Now, the company has announced five separate recalls affecting 202,000 vehicles built between 2005 and 2014.
