I have owned this car for about 2 years. I am an ASE mechanic. About 5 thousand miles ago I put rings, rod, and main bearings in the motor. I also replaced 5 valves I did not like and ground the valves. I drove it the 5 thousand miles as a toy than had it painted. I got it back about a year ago and it has sat in the garage since then. My wife doesn't like to ride with the top down which is why I bought it. The hard top goes with the car as does the storage cart and cover. I replaced the convertible top when I bought it and it is in like new condition as it spent most of it's life in the garage. I also replaced the carpeting with molded carpeting of original color. Everything works including the pop up headlights. I replaced the brakes and struts when I first bought the car. This is a nice cruise around town car. I replaced the battery about 2 months ago. I have a Mercury factory repair manual that also goes with the car. I would expect to be paid within 7 days of purchase and cash preferable. Fitting Retirement: Grand Marquis last Mercury off the line
Wed, 05 Jan 2011The signs have come down and retail production ended back in October of 2010. Now, the very last Mercury model has rolled off the assembly line. This last Mercury somewhat fittingly takes the form of a Grand Marquis reporting for fleet duty. It was built at the St. Thomas plant in Ontario, Canada, which is the same facility that continues to produce the Ford Crown Victoria and Lincoln Town Car for fleet and livery duty.
St. Thomas' days are numbered, however, as the factory is slated to close on August 31. When it goes, the Panther platform is likely to follow. So long, and thanks for all the fish memories.

NHTSA probing 2000-2003 Ford Taurus and Mercury Sable models over throttle issue
Mon, 29 Oct 2012A potential issue with the speed control cable collar has got the 2003-20003 Ford Taurus and Mercury Sable under the spotlight of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. If the collar breaks it can cause the throttle to be stuck open.
The issue is limited to vehicles with the 3.0-liter V6 Duratec. There are just 50 complaints so far out of 310,000 cars, but the NHTSA has begun an investigation into whether a recall should be issued.
