New Milford, Connecticut, United States

1979 Mercedes 450SL in excellent condition. Low, Low original miles. Only 44,000 miles. Next to last year for the 4.5 Liter V8. Lots of power.  Brilliant Silver exterior with black MB tex interior. New convertible top. A very, very nice car.

I'm selling this car for a friend of mine who bought it from the daughter of the original owner. My friend is a stone mason who did work on their estate here in Connecticut. He saw the car and had to have it. With two young daughters who want to both ride with him in it, this is not the car to own. It only causes tension with the kids. My friend does not use the computer so he asked me to list the car for him.

The car was purchased new in San Francisco, CA from European Motors LTD, 5/31/1979. In 1995 the car was transported to Connecticut, registered and titled here with 24,000 miles on it. 19 years later it has only 44,000 miles. Clear Connecticut title is in hand ready for sale.

Runs and drives excellent. Just had a lot of maintainance done by Mercedes. You can see the replaced coolant tank, brake reservior, etc in the engine photo. Interior is like new, no rips or tears. Original radio still in dash. Convertible top is new. Exterior is very nice. One scratch on left front fender see in photo. Rub on left rear fender.  Look at photo, I think most will buff out. Small blister on right front fender. Solid, Quality car.  A really, really nice car. Selling with no reserve. Selling as is. Please ask questions, please look at it prior to bidding. Nice SL great driving and a car you can be proud of. This car will only go up in value. My friend doesn't have the space to keep it. Any questions please call me. 203-648-6818 Car is located in New Milford, CT 06776. Call me if you want to see it. Good luck to everyone and thank you. Dave

Maybach officially discontinues all models for 2013

Tue, 14 Aug 2012

The word "Maybach" has joined the long list of synonyms for the word "kaput." Mercedes-Benz released the price list for the 2013 models of its super-luxury sedans, with the price column simply stating "Discontinued" for each one of them.
The 2012 models, should there be any left for 11th-hour buyers, maintain the increased MSRPs that Daimler slapped on them late last year after it was known the brand would be terminated next year. But you might still be able to wrangle that $100,000 rebate if you ask nicely, or in Russian, or have Rick Ross ask for you.
It shouldn't be too long before we see the ultimate version of the next generation S-Class, the S600 Pullman, that will replace Maybach. Intriguingly, it's said the Pullman will be offered with every S-Class engine, even the four-cylinder diesel.

First official shot of Mercedes S-Class Coupe leaks out

Mon, 10 Feb 2014

With the official debut for the Mercedes-Benz S-Class Coupe expected tomorrow, it shouldn't be a surprise that some clicky fingers have already managed to uncover an official image of the car before the unveiling. Outside of this sole image, though, there's precious little detail on the new car.
First posted by Autofilou and then picked up by WorldCarFans, the production S-Class Coupe isn't far off from the concept car we saw a few months back in Frankfurt. Like the concept, the leggy production model appears related, albeit distantly, to the S-Class Sedan. The hood and front fascia are longer and lower, befitting of a two-door, while the character lines in the profile are more pronounced. Obviously, the beltline and slim, B-pillarless greenhouse are coupe-only items. We can't see any details on the back of the car, although it does appear that the long hood has a correspondingly short rear deck.
We'll have all the details on the official replacement for the CL-Class when it makes its full debut tomorrow. Until then, what do you think of this lone image? Does it appear that Mercedes has got it right? In terms of design, where would you rank this with the departing CL-Class? Have your say in Comments.

Rare Isdera Imperator 108i flexes its considerable muscles

Mon, 05 Aug 2013

The Isdera Imperator 108i is a remarkably rare supercar from the late 80s and early 90s. Born of a Mercedes-Benz concept car, it's powered by a range of AMG-developed V8s, with five to six liters of displacement, depending on the engine. The example shown here, lapping the legendary Spa-Francorchamps circuit, features the most potent 6.0-liter V8 available. And rather than just being driven about on a perfectly clean racing line, it's freaking power sliding!
Yes, there's something eternally childlike about a wedge-shaped supercar from our formative years being flung about a Belgian racetrack. Adding to the appeal is the Imperator's stumpy, periscopic rear mirror, sticking out of the roof. Even after being out of production for 20 years, this is still a wild, wild car and we'd happily snap up the opportunity pilot one of the 36 Isderas that were built. Take a look below for the full video from Spa.
