I'm relisting this car because the winner never paid.

Mercedes Benz 450 SEL 1978 – Only 114,000 miles.

I’m selling a 1978 Mercedes Benz 450 SEL with 114,000 original miles. I bought this car from the original owner in November 2009.

The condition of the car is as follows:

Exterior: The car is very solid and sharp, all the panels fit well and the chrome is in excellent condition needing only a good paint job. There is no visible rust; the original owner told me that it was never driven in rain or snow.

Interior: Front and back seats are in good condition, they are leather and could be cleaned and treated, no rips. Carpets are great just needing shampoo. The dashboard is in perfect condition with no cracks, the cluster of instruments lights up and works as they should and the seat belt warning beep still works. The Becker radio still works and can be retrofitted to play your Ipod. Since this car does not have a sunroof, it has very excellent head room. All the courtesy lights work as intended.

Driving: The car runs very strong, if you are familiar with the Washington, D.C. area, I have been driving this car around the beltway, crossing the Chesapeake Bay bridge, without a problem, it is not shaking while idle and the speed shifting is very smooth. The A/C blows cold air and the heat works fine in winter. The car has a clear title and just passed the Maryland emission test. This car is not registered as “historic” and that tells you that the condition of the car is excellent.

I bought this car to restore it, unfortunately, I’m losing my rented enclosed garage space and I don’t want to park it in the street.

The car is sold as is and not warranty is offered or implied. I have described the car the best to my knowledge.

This car was the best sedan in the World back in the day and remains under the radar screen of collectors, however, a lot of these cars have been salvaged and every day there are fewer on the road. This is the first car to wear the badge “S” Class from Mercedes-Benz.  A car from the time when driving a Benz was a privilege of few.

Chris Harris and David Coulthard wring out a Mercedes Fintail at the N"urburgring

Thu, 17 Oct 2013

If there's one thing we've learned from the latest video from Drive, it's that the combination of Chris Harris and David Coulthard will produce some very quotable moments. Take this exchange, for example.
DC: "We are by some way the slowest."
CH: "But we're in a class of three cars, apparently."

Mercedes-AMG GT attacks Circuit of the Americas

Fri, 12 Sep 2014

Mercedes-Benz is having a banner year with its Formula One team. Through 2014, the constructor has 454 championship points; ahead of its nearest competitor (Red Bull-Renault) by a margin of 182 tally marks. We're sure they can almost taste the champagne.
It's fitting then, and a little big cocky in a good way, that Mercedes has released a video of its newest sports car at an F1 venue. In this case, the car is the lovely Mercedes-AMG GT S, and the racetrack is Austin's Circuit of the Americas.
Having seen the official photo set and scratched the surface of the technical specifications earlier this week, we're excited to finally hear the thing run. As you might guess, the deployment of 503 horsepower and 479 pound-feet of torque from the twin-turbo V8 is a motivating experience. Crank up your volume, and hit that play button. (Oh, and Mercedes shot the thing in 4K, too, so those of you with expensive televisions/monitors should take heed to the settings.)

New Mercedes-Benz S-Class Coupe spied in revealing state of dress

Tue, 19 Feb 2013

During a product briefing earlier this year, Mercedes-Benz told us that 2013 would be the "year of the S-Class." Makes sense, too, since the flagship Mercedes is so very close to finally showing its production-ready face. But the high-tech saloon isn't the only S-Class to talk about this year - quite the contrary. Seen here in decidedly revealing camouflage, the new S-Class Coupe will be joining its four-door compadre in the not-too-distant future, as well.
When it launches, the S-Class Coupe will officially do away with the CL-Class nomenclature. This doesn't come as a huge shock. After all, when the new E-Class coupe and convertible were launched, it officially marked the end of the long-running CLK-Class designation.
Thanks to the interesting camouflage seen here, we have a very good glimpse at how the S-Class Coupe will look when all of the molding and swirly paper are peeled off. Rakish body lines pulled from the CLS-Class meet a much more dynamic front fascia. Out back, there are horizontal taillamps rather than the vertical units used on the current car, and the whole package seems very svelte. Our spy photographer even posits that this will be "the best-looking car from Mercedes-Benz in ages."
