95 Mercedes Benz S320 Long Wheel Base Luxury Sedan **no Reserve** on 2040-cars

95 Mercedes Benz S320 Long Wheel Base Luxury Sedan **NO RESERVE** You looking at a 1995 Mercedes Benz
S-Class (S320), Black Metallic, chrome alloy wheels (rare), contrasting
charcoal trim, with wood grain and Gray leather interior. This car has 265,348 original miles, and was
primarily driven for company sales (mostly highway). The
“S” denotes the big-body Mercedes class of vehicle, and the engine size is
denoted progressing from S320 (V-6), S420 (V-8), S500 (V-8), S600 (V-12). This is the S320 (V-6) fuel efficient engine,
but has V-8 Mercedes-Benz power. As a typical big-body luxury Mercedes sedan, this S320 has Power everything,
including rear seat lighted makeup mirrors, but sunroof needs service, as well
as power window regulators on LF, LR, and RR, but passenger window operates
fine. All glass is fine, except
windshield cracked. A/C needs to be
serviced, in addition window and sunroof tracks. Vehicle has extensive service records, going back to around 100k, and everything was repaired and replaced mechanically to keep the car running for reliable highway distance travel, up until the transmission pump started leaking, and car taken out of service in the past few months. Engine Runs strong and smooth, and has already been rebuilt (including head gasket common in the S320), but transmission pump now leaks, and fluid leaks out. The car runs and drives smoothly, but because of trans fluid leak, it should only be driven short distances so as to not further damage trans. Interior front leather is torn on seams (pictured) from wear, and leather and carpet needs to be cleaned up, and just needs a good detailing. Exterior has damage to left side front bumper (pictures), small dent on left corner and trunk lid (pictures), and scratch along left behind rear door (pictures). There are misc. small scratches in body, but no major collision damage to body. Minor rust spots on edge of door molding, wheel well, and rust holes on trunk lid (pictures). Stock premium Bose sound system speakers still sound great, and has Mercedes 6-CD
changer in the trunk. The car has the long-wheel base chassis, which is a
larger body style, and has classic Mercedes presence on the road. Other than trans fluid leak, the car solidly drives
down the road. With some minor body and trans work this Benz can be a nice car
for someone to drive for another few hundred thousand miles! This Mercedes is sold AS-IS, and NO WARRANTIES written or implied. I took a lot of pictures of the best and worst, so please take a careful look and good luck on owning one of the last true classic designs of the 20th Century. :)

Maybach lost upwards of $500k on each vehicle sold
Wed, 08 Feb 2012Daimler is shuttering Maybach in 2013 after seven years of production. In that time, the company's ultra-ultra-luxury arm managed to sell just 3,000 units, and CAR reports Daimler lost somewhere around $500,000 on each and every one of them.
Even with a ludicrous price tag of over $370,000 for an "entry" Maybach 57, the brand couldn't quite recoup the dizzying $1.33 billion Daimler poured into it since its (re)inception. Rumors ignited over a possible tie up with Aston Martin that would have resulted in a range of new and attractive models, but Daimler has instead decided to snuff out Maybach altogether.
We can hardly blame them.
Autoblog drives to the Arctic Circle
Fri, 22 Mar 2013In Which Mercedes' Sprinter Becomes A Long-Distance Sherpa
In the wintery wilds of northern Alaska, even the cute little critters want to kill you.
As I am about to nod off on my long leg flight from Minneapolis to Anchorage ahead of driving to the Arctic Circle, the friendly twenty-something Alaskan knitting furiously in the seat next to me pauses and says, "When you're driving up there, don't open your windows." In the dead of winter? I hadn't planned on cruising alfresco, but her warning to keep the glazing snugged against the weatherstripping is one I would take to heart. She continues: "If you leave 'em open, a fox is liable to jump right in. There are lots of rabid foxes up there, and they leap into your car and just Go. To. Town." And here I was, thinking that a curious bear or maybe an ill-placed moose in the road was going to be my biggest potential four-legged threat. In the wintery wilds of northern Alaska, even the cute little critters want to kill you.
Next Mercedes-Benz GLK to get AMG variant? Not likely...
Fri, 15 Mar 2013If you think Mercedes-Benz will slap an AMG badge on anything with wheels, think again. Word has it the German manufacturer will not offer buyers a performance version of the GLK, with Tobias Moers, director of AMG vehicle development, saying that he doesn't see a market for the car. That's not to say the picture won't change in the near future, however. According to CarAdvice.com, AMG is keeping a close eye on the arrival of the Porsche Macan.
"Maybe there will be a change in the market when the Porsche [Macan] comes up," Moers said, "but right now, no."
The real hitch in the giddy-up seems to be cost. Moers says developing the machine into something worthy of an AMG would represent "a huge investment." We can't exactly argue with that. Fortunately, AMG buyers have plenty of Mercedes-Benz models to choose from.
