Time to sell my S-Class. I needed an SUV for my family, so my loss is your gain. For consideration is a very clean, very rare, White S500 coupe. I have the original window sticker for this car, and in 1996, it retailed for $93,795.00. You can own it for much less.

I am the second owner of this original low-mileage vehicle.

The car has always been meticulously maintained by me, has never been in an accident, has a clean and clear title, and runs as a clean reliable car should. Car drives straight, and has one of the best V8 engines Mercedes ever built. (M119)

Full synthetic oil has always been used. The car has recently had $2000 in service alone to replace the MAF sensor, Crank Sensor, Motor and Transmission Mounts, and Accumulators (Self Leveling Rear Suspension). Spark Plugs were recently replaced with new Bosch plugs, Air filter was changed, Coolant has been changed. New battery within the last 2 years. I have receipts for most of the work. I cannot find all of them but can give a telephone of the excellent shop that serviced the vehicle.

The car has received a clean bill of health from my mechanic, and has a very smooth and solid running engine and transmission. The interior is in excellent shape with a few new burlwood pieces from the factory, and leather that is in good shape. The car is beautiful.

It has brand NEW tires on 18" Chrome AMG style wheels. Brake Pads were recently changed, and Rotors were also changed within the last 10,000 miles. All are visible on the car on close inspection.

The car also has brand new 1999 CL500 Tail Lamp Housings, along with Hi/Lo Beam HID Lights with projector Lenses. The lights work very well and are not the cheap kits found on ebay. Visibility is very good at night.

Nice clean body with no noticeable dents. Nice paint - well above that of comparable cars for the year. The car shows very well. That being said there are a few minor things on the vehicle that do not work. I do not have the time to fix them, and I would rather sell the vehicle at a discount than spending my time on them.

The headlight washers do not function. Not a big deal since you likely won't go offroading in your S-class.

The power mirrors do not work. They quit working a while ago, but never bothered me since you can move them where you want them with your hands, and not have to touch them again.

One of the 2 remotes does not work. This could be an easy fix, but I haven't looked into it.

That is all that stands out right now. Cruise works, ASR works, all windows and sunroof work, power seats, aftermarket stereo all work. Solid engine and transmission.

Low starting bid on this vehicle, it is not perfect by any means, but would be an inexpensive, reliable, upscale ride for someone looking for a great deal on an above average car, or the Mercedes enthusiast who knows what this car is. I have cared for this car for many years, and Mercedes coupes are very special.

No warranties or guarantees are expressed or implied. This is a used vehicle. I have described the vehicle to the best of my abilities.

Mercedes S-Class Magic Body Control ad is clucking awesome

Tue, 24 Sep 2013

This is a new ad from Mercedes-Benz. At no point does it show an automobile. Instead, it stars animals, but not the sort you might normally see in car commercial. This ad is all about chickens. It is bizarre, to say the least, with Diana Ross and the Supremes belting it out in the background, but it all kind of comes together when you realize just what Mercedes is hawking (yeah, pun intended).
It's for the manufacturer's Magic Body Control, found on the new S-Class. The system basically analyzes the road and prepares the suspension accordingly, leading to a ride that is, in the words of our own Chris Paukert "nothing short of spooky." You can read about it in our full review of the 2014 S550. Take a look below for the 53-second spot.

Mercedes fits new C-Class with AMG kit

Sat, 28 Dec 2013

It's only been a week and a half since Mercedes-Benz revealed the new C-Class, and it'll likely be a while yet before the replacement for the C63 AMG comes along. But if you want to see a preview of what it'll look like, look no further than the AMG aero kit that has just surfaced.
Expected to debut on the new C-Class at the fast-approaching Detroit Auto Show, the AMG Line Exterior Pack adds a new bumpers front and rear, side skirts, dual exhaust tips, mesh grille, aluminum window frames and - most importantly - 18-inch alloys packing upgraded brakes and fitted to a lowered sport suspension. All of which will help any C-Class look the part, even if the engine remains stock.

Daimler employees can set email to auto-delete during vacation

Mon, 18 Aug 2014

The Internet has shrunk the world in terms of the way people communicate by making it possible to send an email from Oslo and have it show up in Cleveland almost immediately. But that instant contact has wrecked the work/life balance for many. They get home from a long day at the office, yet they can never fully put their feet up and relax because another hour or more of checking and replying to emails awaits. However, German automotive giant Daimler is putting an end to that churn, at least while its employees are on vacation.
About 100,000 Daimler employees in Germany are eligible to opt-in to a new program called Mail on Holiday, according to The Atlantic. When the workers go on vacation, they can switch it on, and the service auto-deletes all of their incoming email. "Our employees should relax on holiday and not read work-related emails," said Wilfried Porth, board member for human resources, to The Financial Times as cited by The Atlantic.
Mail on Holiday puts a thumb on the scale of work/life balance in favor of a little more free time. The system means that Daimler employees shouldn't even be tempted to check their email on vacation because there's nothing there - and it also avoids them coming back from a relaxing holiday only to find a mailbox packed full of hundreds of unread messages. These days, people are absolutely obsessed with their work, often to the detriment of their health, not to mention spending time with their families and friends. On one hand, Mail on Holiday sounds like the sort of vacation breakthrough we'd need to truly unplug and unwind, but on the other hand, it makes our skin crawl just thinking about the lack of communication. What's your perspective? Have your say in Comments.
