California Legal 1985 Mercedes-Benz 280 GE with 88,1xx miles: It is equipped with a Eurospec M110 2.8L inline 6 engine with K-Jet fuel injection, 4 speed manual transmission, 4 wheel drive system with front, center and rear locking differentials. The gears shift smoothly and the 4x4 system works marvelously. The geolander tires have about 10,000 miles on them and have plenty of tread left. The a/c blows ice cold. Overall this gwagon is in excellent condition. This 1985 280
GE was imported to the US by Europa (c. 2000) and was purchased by myself in
November 2010. In 2011 the g-wagon was brought to meet California’s strict
emissions standards by the CA Bureau of Automotive Repair (BAR) thus made 50
state legal in 2011 - an expensive and time consuming process required of all
out of state grey market vehicles “imported” to CA. Since then it has served as
my daily driver. These vehicles are well known for their off road
capabilities, used extensively by NATO and German armed forces throughout the
world. This gwgaon has been driven off road only a handful of times, limited to
dirt fire roads. I have used it extensively for lake runs and every summer it
has comfortably towed the boat and jet skis 1200 miles back and forth to Lake
Powell without complaint. No matter how you plan to use this gwagon it will be
an all around great vehicle. In 2012 I grew dissatisfied with the low power of the stock 280
M110 engine and opted to have a Mercedes M110 Eurospec engine installed. For
those unfamiliar with the Eurospec it delivers about 40 horsepower more than
the standard Mercedes 280 M110. It operates at a higher compression than the
standard 280 and uses 91 octane. The
added horsepower has really made a huge difference on the freeway – tops out
around 95MPH - and when towing. The
engine swap was done by Attwood European in Phoenix, AZ. All maintenance has been carried out by certified Mercedes mechanics
with strong track records maintaining these original gwagons. Receipts are
available and can be provided upon request.
The last service was completed on June 12 and is due for the next at
89,000 miles. During the 78,000 mile service my technician found the rear main
seal was leaking slightly. I have notice some days it will release about a
teaspoon amount of oil when sitting overnight, while other days I won’t notice

Mercedes-Benz CLA stars in sweeping short with supermodel Karlie Kloss
Wed, 16 Jan 2013The Mercedes-Benz CLA earned itself a spot on our list of the top five unveils of the 2013 Detroit Auto Show, and for good reason. The German luxury compact is the first small car from the Silver Arrow that looks suitably premium inside and out. Nowness.com has turned out a new video of the CLA featuring super model Karlie Koss in the lead role. We aren't entirely sure what the premise is, but from what we can tell, it looks as if the CLA comes to life and proceeds to be a giant jerk.
After Koss stops to take a closer look at a white horse, the CLA gives the supermodel the old stop-and-go treatment before leaving her on the side of the road. Eventually, the sedan makes nice, but Koss has to ride shotgun instead of taking the controls herself. You can check out the video below to see for yourself.
Race Recap: Singapore Grand Prix is about a safety car and submission
Mon, 23 Sep 2013The Singapore Formula One Grand Prix is the Monaco GP of the Orient - a weekend known more for its glamour and time-slot than on-track action, with a temporary circuit that punishes every mistake, usually terminally.
Lewis Hamilton in the Mercedes-AMG Petronas got the best of Free Practice 1, opening the curtain on a possible resurgence of Silver Arrows performance. By the time qualifying was done, though, it was his teammate Nico Rosberg who lined up second on the grid, followed by Romain Grosjean with a beautiful performance in the Lotus, Mark Webber in the Infiniti Red Bull, and Hamilton all the way back in fifth. Behind them were Felipe Massa outqualifying Ferrari teammate Fernando Alonso, Jenson Button getting the McLaren into eighth, Daniel Ricciardo with another good Q3 effort to get into ninth, and the shocker of Esteban Gutiérrez getting his Sauber into the top ten for the first time this year.
At the front of the pack was Sebastian Vettel. Again. But he was only ahead of Rosberg by a single tenth of a second...
2014 Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG Edition 507 still lights our fire
Wed, 06 Mar 2013The current Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG may be in the autumn of its years, but it's still one of our very favorite sport sedans. Ever. Yes, its paddle-shift transmission may not always follow orders, but with stupendous levels of thrust from its charismatic naturally aspirated 6.2-liter V8, ebullient rear-wheel-drive dynamics and that noise, we frankly don't care that it's getting on a bit.
As a sendoff of sorts for the current generation, Mercedes-Benz has just introduced a new Edition 507 model at the Geneva Motor Show, with 507 horsepower and 450 pound-feet of torque - an increase of 56 horses over the standard car. Mercedes credits the substitution of low-mass internals from the SLS AMG gullwing for the power bump, a tactic shared with the AMG Development Package upgrade that has been subsumed by this Edition 507. 0-60 is quoted at 4.1 seconds and top speed at 174 mph.
The Edition 507 borrows its aluminum hood from the C63 AMG Black Series Coupe, along with spidery new 19-inch wheels in either titanium gray finish or matte black with shiny rim flanges. As seen on our gallery car above, a sports striping package is also featured, as are glossy black grille, daytime running lamps, spoiler and mirror caps.
