Mercedes 1997 E-420 (no Reserve) on 2040-cars
Saginaw, Michigan, United States
Hi. Due to a weasel of a guy who won this auction two weeks ago with no intention on following through, I am relisting this car. It is a very nice 1997 Mercedes E-420. It has 144,781 miles on it. I originally bought it for my college-aged daughter, but she ended up needing a 4-wheel drive, because we live in Michigan and the winter has been brutal. Before giving it to her, however, I put in a new battery, new tires, new shocks, new ball joints... I can't remember all that I had done to it, but it was basically making it safe and comfortable for my daughter, so I felt good about her driving it. Everything in it is great! Leather seats Automatic. Nice rims and new tires. It does need two repairs: it needs a heater fan behind the dash. (It was the next thing I was going to do had she decided to keep it.) And it also needs a radio. It came with an after-market radio-cd player that the guy I bought it from had installed incorrectly, and it was slowly tapping the battery. So when I had a new battery put in, I had the guys there take the whole thing out. So the car doesn't have a radio.)
It's in great physical condition and it runs great!. This car is actually the fifth 1997 e-420 that I've owned. They are my favorite Mercedes. My son is still driving and loving one I handed down to him when I bought a 4 wheel drive truck last year. They are great, reliable cars. And like I said, this one was intended for my daughter, obviously my car-of-choice for my kids. At this point, it's taking up space in our driveway because everybody is driving other things. So I'm selling it at a great price in hopes that it will sell quickly. Please feel free to BUY NOW, BID, or write to ask questions. Also please feel free to make an offer. Thank you! |

New Mercedes-Benz S-Class Coupe spied in revealing state of dress
Tue, 19 Feb 2013During a product briefing earlier this year, Mercedes-Benz told us that 2013 would be the "year of the S-Class." Makes sense, too, since the flagship Mercedes is so very close to finally showing its production-ready face. But the high-tech saloon isn't the only S-Class to talk about this year - quite the contrary. Seen here in decidedly revealing camouflage, the new S-Class Coupe will be joining its four-door compadre in the not-too-distant future, as well.
When it launches, the S-Class Coupe will officially do away with the CL-Class nomenclature. This doesn't come as a huge shock. After all, when the new E-Class coupe and convertible were launched, it officially marked the end of the long-running CLK-Class designation.
Thanks to the interesting camouflage seen here, we have a very good glimpse at how the S-Class Coupe will look when all of the molding and swirly paper are peeled off. Rakish body lines pulled from the CLS-Class meet a much more dynamic front fascia. Out back, there are horizontal taillamps rather than the vertical units used on the current car, and the whole package seems very svelte. Our spy photographer even posits that this will be "the best-looking car from Mercedes-Benz in ages."
Highlights from the Goodwood Festival of Speed, including the McLaren P1 and a Ford Transit running the hill
Mon, 15 Jul 2013The sole purpose of this post is as a time-waster, and since you shouldn't have to work to waste time, we've done it for you. In the numerous videos below you'll find cars that have lately been in the news tramping all over the grounds of Lord March's estate in Goodwood, England.
There's the McLaren P1 heading up the hill, the Jaguar Project 7, then a casually-driven Porsche 917 followed by an even-more-casually-driven Porsche 956, topped off by a Porsche 936 that is anything but casually driven. The next round is the flame-spitting Peugeot 405 T16 Pikes Peak from Climb Dance, a camera mounted on the Peugeot RCZ R after it showing you what the whole, uninterrupted run up the hill looks like. For a real head-turner, we couldn't embed it but there's Andy Reid blasting up the hill in a Ford Transit Supervan with a Cosworth 3000 V6 engine.
The modern racing contingent has Allan McNish doing the hill in the Audi R18 e-tron quattro he used to win Le Mans and Lewis Hamilton making lots of tire smoke in the Mercedes-AMG Petronas MGP-W02. For comparison, that's followed by Nick Heidfeld's record-setting run up the hill in 1999 in the McLaren MP4/14 . The classic racing contingent is headlined by 71-year-old Giacomo Agostini on an MV Agusta.
2013 Mercedes-Benz SL65 AMG
Fri, 22 Feb 2013Make way for the 2013 Mercedes-Benz SL65 AMG, the most wonderfully preposterous car I have ever driven.
There is absolutely no reason why any two-seat roadster should be fitted with a twin-turbocharged 6.0-liter V12 developing 621 horsepower and 738 pound-feet of torque, but I sure am glad that Mercedes-Benz doesn't see things that way.
Drop into the leather-lined cockpit of this $213,145 provocateur, floor the accelerator pedal as I did over and over again, and 60 miles per hour falls in a traction-limited 3.9 seconds. Top speed has been electronically held to 186 mph (this apparently saves Gulfstream jet owners from embarrassment). Forget the SL550 and SL63 AMG, the valets will trip over themselves attending to the tycoon driving this thoroughbred - it's the real deal.
