Reedville, Virginia, United States

For sale by private owner 2002 Mercedes E55 AMG. I have owned this beautiful car for 6+ years now. For 4 of those years it was kept in a temp controlled military storage in NC while I worked and lived in SE Asia. Car has 102,000 miles. My "baby" is tectite grey metallic ... super rare, and even rarer has the chrome AMG rims and not the standard aluminum. Car was originally purchased in California, and I purchased from second owner in North Carolina. My E55 was appraised and is currently insured by American Collectors insurance at $23,500. Overall car is 9.5 out of a 10 total.

The W210 E55 AMG is amongst the best value-for-money AMGs, period.  In fact, few other cars offer the same blend of outright performance, quality build, practicality, and reliability that come as neatly wrapped as the W210 E55 package.  They’re fast and bullet-proof and don’t have the expensive and frequent repair issues of the W211s (2003-2006) E55s, especially the $1,000/ corner Airmatic DC shocks.
Since fewer than 500 E55's were imported to the USA in 2002 there is only a small number of well-documented examples left, and significantly less in tectite grey metallic. My E55 is truly a rare find with the tectite grey exterior and the chrome AMG rims. I also have the original window sticker listing original cost and all original options.

The paint is glossy wet and in excellent condition.
The interior is finished in dark grey nappa leather. The seats are soft and supple with perforations. There is slight wear on drivers seat left bolster, All other seating and interior have no tears, rips, stains, blemishes, or show any signs of neglect. The carpet inside is as fresh as it is when it was new. There aren't any stains, rips, spills, or holes in the carpets. I also purchased a custom fitted car cover (Coverking-$600) and custom front bra (Colgan-$450) for my "baby". Both will go with the car to new buyer.

The wood in the car is a Black Birds-Eye Maple. I like the color because it blends in well with the dark grey upholstery. Has original E55 AMG mats in nice condition, also have a spare set of aftermarket that will go with the car.

I regularly get 24mpg on the highway, which is awesome for a 350HP, 390 Torque, 5.4L V8 engine!

Tires on this car are brand new BF Goodrich Sport Comp II's, ZR rated. 2002 E55's run stock staggered front and rear...with the rear super wide at 275/35ZR18.

I have done my best to describe everything and I don't have anything to hide. If you have questions, I would be glad to answer them for you. My name is Scott and my cell number is 832-270-1138. If I don't answer, please leave me a message. I WILL call you back. As far as price goes, I believe it is priced correctly for the immaculate condition of my "baby". You can buy a cheaper one, for sure But you won't really do get what you pay for. What you'll find available are either black or silver, sold by dealers, and I guarantee not in the condition my "baby" has been kept in.

This car is not just an AMG that has been bought and sold by an independent dealer it has been owned privately by me for 6+ years! And meticulously maintained.
I have a free and clear title in hand.

I would be glad to help coordinate with your shipper. The car is being sold by me, and I am not a dealer or a third party. The car is being sold AS/IS-WHERE/IS, and no warranties are implied. If you need a shipper, I will be glad to help you.

The buyer of my "baby" WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED!! This is an extremely fast, quiet and smooth German rocket ship. I am going to miss greatly and has been treated like a third child. I have decided to move back to Asia and retire in Thailand, unfortunately the Thai government will not allow me to bring the car with me and has been a very tough decision to sell my "baby". The new owner will be thrilled with my car...you absolutely will not be disappointed !! Check out my feedback rating, sold one other car in 2003, my 1972 big block 454 corvette, owner in Canada was thrilled when the car was delivered....you will be too!

Asking $18,500, please only serious buyers and no tire kickers. Reserve is set slightly less than the asking price.

Thank you for taking the time to review my auction.

AMG-powered Aston Martins still years away

Mon, 16 Sep 2013

After flirting for several years, Mercedes-Benz and Aston Martin have finally tied the knot. Just don't expect to see any offspring to result from the union for at least three or four years.
This according to Auto Express, which spoke with Daimler chief Dr. Dieter Zetsche at the Frankfurt Motor Show last week. AE reports that a new range of AMG-developed turbocharged V8s, transmissions and electrical components will make their way into the successors to the current V8 Vantage and DB9, but that these models are still a few years off.
Purists might balk at the thought of a Mercedes-powered Aston holding true to the brand's heritage. But while David Brown (for whom the DB range is named) may have steered clear of shoehorning in Detroit muscle into his cars, the entirety of the company's current range is powered by engines borrowing technology from Ford, and that arrangement seems to have worked well for Aston until now. And if you're still skeptical, look no further than Pagani and its AMG-sourced engines and you should have all the proof you need that the new relationship between Daimler and Aston could be a success.

2014 Mercedes-Benz S-Class caught totally undisguised

Mon, 18 Mar 2013

Based on the lightly camouflaged spy shots of the 2014 Mercedes-Benz S-Class we've seen lately, it hasn't taken a vivid imagination to picture what the next iteration of this big luxury sedan will look like. Even so, we now we have our first unobstructed views of the redesigned S-Class, codenamed W222, as it has just been caught out flaunting for some promo shots.
The first thing we notice about the new S-Class design is the disappearance of the last generation's flared wheel arches. Yet the new design adds even more character with bodyside creases similar to the CLS-Class and some elements reminiscent of 2007's F700 Concept, including the massive grille and vertical LED taillights. Other key details include a large panoramic roof and the narrow exhaust outlets, but the large LED-trimmed headlights and the aggressive front fascia are probably the biggest departure from the current design. With these spy shots, we also catch a blurry shot of the interior, but we've seen a practically uncovered look at the new S-Class' cabin back in January.
Overall, the next S-Class sports an expressive and premium new look, but as far as all-new designs go, it's quite conservative - a move no doubt fitting for these lean financial times.

Race Recap: 2013 Japanese Grand Prix flips several scripts [spoilers]

Mon, 14 Oct 2013

Japan's Suzuka circuit is a great track that all the drivers love, but it doesn't usually provide the most thrilling, head-to-head racing. Where it does excel, however, is with surprises and "What just happened there?!" moments, and this year it was no different.
It started with Mark Webber in his Infiniti Red Bull Racing out-qualifying his teammate Sebastian Vettel for the first time this year. They were followed closely by Lewis Hamilton in the first Mercedes-AMG Petronas, the still-solid Romain Grosjean again outdoing teammate Kimi Räikkönen, Felipe Massa racing for another seat in Formula One and putting his Ferrari in fifth, then Nico Rosberg in the second Mercedes, Nico Hülkenberg in the first Sauber, Fernando Alonso in the second Ferrari, and Räikkönen continuing to do himself no favors by qualifying tenth.
For the second year in a row, the lights going out was the cue to start the first corner action...
