It was time for my friend to get a new car, so I am selling his trade-in for him.  There is nothing about the Mercedes that made him want to trade up, the car is in excellent condition.  He was the second owner and has driven 80,000 miles since he purchased the car.  It has always been maintained properly, and it treated him well.  The miles are getting high, but the car drives wonderfully.  The engine is smooth and quiet, the transmission shifts smoothly without slippage or harshness, the a/c and heater work well with the automatic climate control.  All the windows and locks work. It even has memory seating on both front seats. I can't think of anything at all that doesn't work fine.  I have been driving the car for a week now, and I will hate to give it up.
The car has recent new Michelin tires and rear brakes.  It passed smog check with no issues.   The registration is even paid through January of 2014.  Just a $30 transfer fee and your good.

There have been no accidents that I know of and the CarFax is perfect.  There are of course some sand and rock chips in the front end and a small flaw in the right side door edge.  The pictures show them.  Yes, they are small and have been touched up with paint.  I see the lower front air deflector is missing, must have got knocked off on a parking stop. The roof has some faded clear coat paint.  I have connections and can paint it, or apply carbon fiber vinyl, before delivery for $350 extra, if you want the car perfect.  The rest is of the outside and the inside is awesome.  The leather interior had sheepskins, so it is in great condition, and without many wrinkles even.  Never been smoked in as far as I can tell.  I sent it to the detail shop, so it is really clean and spotless now.
The gas mileage is rated at 29 MPG.  Now that's an efficient V6 engine!

I like to let the bidders set the fair market price, so have at it for sale at "no reserve".
The blue book value, even with the miles, is $6203.00.  the wholesale value is $3943.00.  I have the original window sticker and it shows a MSRP of $48140.00
I would think the car should sell for $3500 to $4000 and will make someone very happy.  I could sell it in the local paper, but I don't want to wait for the extra $1500 I could get.  I have the title in hand, and it's clear, not branded.  The car is available to see and drive during the auction.  Email me your phone number for an appt.
I am low key and easy going. I have worked with cars for over 30 years, so please no scams or trade offers.  No, I will not end the auction early.

I request a non-refundable $300 deposit within 48 hours of auction ending.  If you don't like your purchase for any good reason, in person, after a drive, that $300 deposit is all you stand to lose.  Yes, walk away if you like, the car is that nice.
I will report all non paying winners for no deposits, or disappearing acts.  Please ask questions before bidding.  Email is good, if you need to talk, email your phone #, and I will call you.  Cash balance is accepted on pickup.  Please pick up the car within 7 days in Thousand Oaks, CA.
Shipping is available if YOU do all of the work.  I will hand the trucker the keys.

Mercedes leads in US luxury car thefts

Wed, 31 Jul 2013

Mercedes-Benz makes some fine automobiles. The Silver Arrow'd cars are so good, apparently, that thieves can't help but try to steal them. The German brand is at the top of the charts for luxury car thefts in the US, according to the National Insurance Crime Bureau, with New York City leading the way. (And those New Yorkers complain about Detroit being bad!)
The C-Class was the most stolen model, with 485 ganked between 2009 and 2012 in NYC alone, while the E-Class and S-Class (which also boasted the worst recovery rate, at 59 percent) both finished in the top ten. Following the C-Class was the BMW 3 Series and Infiniti G. Not surprisingly, each of these were the most common models in their respective lineups. Los Angeles and Miami are also prime hotspots for luxury car thefts, according to the Detroit News report.
While getting your car stolen is pretty awful, there was one inspiring statistic compiled by the NICB - the average recovery rate across the board was 84 percent, with the Cadillac CTS getting recovered 91 percent of the time.

Mercedes-Benz GLA Concept gets mobbed in China

Sat, 20 Apr 2013

If the reception it received at the Shanghai Motor Show is any judge of marketplace acceptance, Mercedes-Benz has a hit on its hands in the form of the GLA Concept. And we can understand why - we're quickly becoming fans of Mercedes' recent styling language, as defined by new models like the CLA and this GLA Concept.
The big news on the exterior front are the headlamp clusters, which have frickin' laser beams attached to their foreheads embedded inside that are capable of projecting videos and images on a screen. Plus, a pair of video cameras are mounted on the roof that can be used to capture driving excitement or removed and taken with you. How cool is that? We just hope they have a substantial locking mechanism to prevent would-be thievery...
If the exterior is mostly ready for production, with a few of the more outlandish elements moved to the trash bin - like, for instance, laser-beam headlamps and removable action cams - the interior is a true custom job that screams concept loud and clear. There are all kinds of jewel-like finishes inside, along with transparent surfaces showing what looks like metal latticework underneath and some awfully thick looking leather with massive exterior stitching done by hand similar to what you'd find on a baseball glove.

New Mercedes-Benz S-Class Coupe spied in revealing state of dress

Tue, 19 Feb 2013

During a product briefing earlier this year, Mercedes-Benz told us that 2013 would be the "year of the S-Class." Makes sense, too, since the flagship Mercedes is so very close to finally showing its production-ready face. But the high-tech saloon isn't the only S-Class to talk about this year - quite the contrary. Seen here in decidedly revealing camouflage, the new S-Class Coupe will be joining its four-door compadre in the not-too-distant future, as well.
When it launches, the S-Class Coupe will officially do away with the CL-Class nomenclature. This doesn't come as a huge shock. After all, when the new E-Class coupe and convertible were launched, it officially marked the end of the long-running CLK-Class designation.
Thanks to the interesting camouflage seen here, we have a very good glimpse at how the S-Class Coupe will look when all of the molding and swirly paper are peeled off. Rakish body lines pulled from the CLS-Class meet a much more dynamic front fascia. Out back, there are horizontal taillamps rather than the vertical units used on the current car, and the whole package seems very svelte. Our spy photographer even posits that this will be "the best-looking car from Mercedes-Benz in ages."
