Jack Nicholson's 1990 Mercedes-benz 500sl Mint Roadster Convertible No Reserve on 2040-cars
Los Angeles, California, United States
Up for auction is an incredible collectors item. A 1990 Mercedes-Benz 500SL which belonged to the very famous actor Jack Nicholson. This was his personal car and he is the only owner on record along with the original title with his signature on it. For the record, Jack Nicholson's real name is John J Nicholson and this is public information even listed on Wikipedia. Therefore that is the name which appears on the title which is pictured below. It was Jack's car and stored in his garage until last year when he sold it to a friend of his which is a collector. Now the car is for sale to the public here on ebay and with NO RESERVE price. It will go to the highest bidder which is also responsible for arranging any shipping or delivery.
The car is in very good condition and is very clean both inside and out. It's always been a California car and has no rust. It has never been in any accidents and still bares the original factory paint. Everything in the car is great working order. No mechanical problems or leaks of any kind. No electrical problems. All of the service is up to date. It does not require any repair. The leather and carpeting in good condition. No holes or rips on the leather or ware and tare on the carpets. The top easily comes off and the process is fully automatic. Once the hardtop is off, the soft top also retracts and closes automatically and is in good working order. No holes or tares anywhere in the soft top and the see-through areas are in pristine condition with no fading, cracking, or misty areas at all. The soft top does not leak or rattle. Also included in the auction is the hardtop along with the whole hoist mechanism with pulleys and brace which holds the hardtop when it's off the vehicle. It's a great way to store the hard top in your garage so its out of the way and will not get scratched when removing it. It's usually mounted right above where you store the car and can easily be lowered or raised right from or directly back on to the car. This SL500 has a 5.0 V8 engine. It's fully loaded and has all the options along with some added features. Some of them include an aftermarket audio system with head unit with XM radio and amplifier which is all wired and connected to the head unit with out any visible wires. The tires have plenty of tread on them. The air conditioning and heat both work very well, remote keyless entry and alarm also are functioning properly. No squeaking, rattling, or any kind of noises. It runs quiet and is very responsive with plenty of power and excellent handling. Clean California title in hand, only 67,236 original miles on the car, California registration expired in January of 2014, a full carfax report outlining the full history of the car is pictured below. Buyer is responsible for pickup and or shipping. A $500 deposit is due 24 hours of auction end and the remainder must be satisfied via certified cashiers check or cash. Vehicle must be pickup up within 7 days of auction end. I have plenty of feedback as a seller and have sold valuable and expensive items. My descriptions are accurate and honest and supported by plenty of recent pictures. Please let me know if you have any questions. ABSOLUTELY NO BIDDERS WITH 0 FEEDBACK! YOUR BID WILL BE CACLED UNLESS YOU CONTACT ME FOR APPROVAL PRIOR TO BIDDING. |

Chris Harris and David Coulthard wring out a Mercedes Fintail at the N"urburgring
Thu, 17 Oct 2013If there's one thing we've learned from the latest video from Drive, it's that the combination of Chris Harris and David Coulthard will produce some very quotable moments. Take this exchange, for example.
DC: "We are by some way the slowest."
CH: "But we're in a class of three cars, apparently."
Mercedes releases 6x6 G63 AMG specs and pics [w/video]
Fri, 15 Mar 2013Mercedes-Benz has finally dropped full details on its insane G63 AMG 6x6. The machine puts 544 horsepower to all six wheels thanks to a twin-turbocharged 5.5-liter V8. A seven-speed gearbox shuttles power to the ground via three sets of portal axles, which helps give this machine a full 15.75 inches of ground clearance. By comparison, the standard G63 AMG sits with just 8.27 inches of ground clearance. The extra lift allows this 6x6 to ford nearly 40 inches of water and run massive 37-inch tires. All told, there are five differential locks on this thing, all controlled by a special "locking logic" that provides the best traction possible for any given situation.
The controls offer up three stages of locking, which we can only assume range from JKLOL to OMGWTF. Right now, AMG says this monstrosity is only a show vehicle, but we imagine it wouldn't take much to convince the team to whip up one of your very own. Check out our full gallery and the press release below for all the nitty gritty. While you're down there, you can also check out the video on the machine one more time.
Mercedes-Benz killing Maybach in 2013, replacing with S600 Pullman
Fri, 25 Nov 2011According to an unnamed Mercedes-Benz source speaking with AutoWeek, the German automaker is killing off its Maybach line in 2013.
The unsurprising news comes after the brand was resurrected in 2002, but failed to meet sales expectations with its two core models, the Maybach 57 and 62. Further solidifying its fate, a deal with Aston Martin to aid in the development of future Maybachs fell through earlier this year.
According to the AutoWeek insider, the plan is to continue to sell both Maybach models through the end of 2013, after which the fifth-generation S-Class will go on sale. When that happens, three new variants of the S-Class will be available, including an all-new, range-topping S600 that brings back the Pullman moniker and may be better suited to competing with the likes of Bentley and Rolls-Royce.
