Here is your chance to own one of Mercedes-Benz’s best and most expensive production cars at an impossibly low starting bid and no reserve.

This is the very best car I've ever owned; I would drive it coast to coast and back again - now - today. Well, then ... why am I selling it? I am 78 years old on a fixed income. I have too many vehicles. Medical bills are eating me alive. Need I say more?

In 2008 I drove a 1986 Porsche 911 from Maine to Georgia to attend a high school reunion. Just before I departed from Georgia I blew an air box. A week later and a thousand dollars poorer it looked like I was going to be throwing hundred dollar bills at the car for at least another week. It was then that I decided to swap even the Porsche for the Mercedes 560 SEC. By the time I got back to Maine I was in love with the Mercedes. My total virtual investment in the SEC 560 at that time was $11,000.00. The car has been a dependable runner and I have taken it on many long distance trips. This vehicle has a strong engine that uses no oil. The odometer ceased to work on August 5, 2011 at 134,622 miles.

I would rate the condition of this car as "good." It has dependably taken me on many trips from Maine to Georgia. Two years ago I towed a utility trailer from Maine to Western Vermont and returned with a sidecar motorcycle. The vehicle runs and drives great. It has been well maintained and has had all necessary work done to obtain a yearly Maine inspection sticker, which expires on 1 January 2014. There is a half-dollar size circle of bare aluminum on the hood and trunk lid of the car. The spots look like hail damage but there is no denting. There is a minor rust spot at the rear of the left side wheel arches and some chrome flaking on the front bumper. The sun roof needs some parts to be installed, which could possibly be in the trunk.

I have seldom owned a vehicle without a trailer hitch. I purchased and installed the only receiver hitch available for this model car. I don’t remember the price but it was a doozie.

Recently the ABS light on the dashboard occasionally comes on. My mechanic says that a front sensor needs to be adjusted or replaced; aside from this the brakes work perfectly. Last month a latch spring in the left side door broke. Consequently, the latch has to be reset (a simple operation) if the door is opened from the outside. The gray leather interior is "fair." The driver’s seat shows wear from 27 years of regular use. The upholstery under the rear window needs to be re-sewn or replaced. The rear window has some haze along the sides. There may or may not be some additional minor items that could be fixed but do not affect the operation of the vehicle. The car is sold "AS-IS."

I am a private seller. I have done my best to describe this item carefully and accurately, The pictures depict this item exactly as it is. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me. Thanks for looking!

Mercedes-Benz introduces new heavy security M-Class Guard model

Tue, 19 Mar 2013

Mercedes-Benz has unveiled a new addition to the company's line of personal security vehicles. The M-Class Guard features bullet-proof side windows made with special laminated glazing and a polycarbonate inner layer to protect occupants from shards of glass. Mercedes says the M-Class Guard meets protection level VR4 according to the Bullet Resistant Vehicles 2009 standards, based on testing from the independent Ulm-based Ballistics Bureau, which means it can withstand .357 Magnum and .44 fire from multiple angles. It can also stand up to the DM51 hand grenade when equipped with optional floor armoring. Why skimp?
Buyers looking for protection from the world's literal slings and arrows can opt for the ML350 BlueTEC with its 258 horsepower 3.0-liter turbodiesel engine. With 457 pound-feet of torque, the oil-burner should have no trouble hustling the privileged class about. Of course, the ML500 offers a bit more punch courtesy of a 4.6-liter twin-turbo V8 with 408 horsepower and 442 pound-feet of torque. Prices start at 105,050 euros for the diesel and 118,650 euros for the V8. You can check out the full press release below for more information.

Mercedes dealers authorized to spend $2,500 on perks for S-Class customers

Mon, 02 Dec 2013

If you drop $100,000 on a luxury sedan, it seems only reasonable to receive some preferential treatment at the dealership you purchased from. After all, that price isn't just for the car - you're paying for the brand and all the cachet that entails. For Mercedes-Benz, those benefits have apparently been lacking relative to the German brand's luxury competitors.
That's set to change, though, as Automotive News reports that the German brand is placing a much greater emphasis on keeping its customers happy and loyal with its MB Select program. Starting with the new S-Class and spreading to the CLA-Class (and eventually beyond), dealers are being given money - up to $2,500 in the case of the flagship sedan - just to improve the customer experience.
We agree, improving the "customer experience" is quite a vague term, so it's nice that Mercedes USA's CEO, Steve Cannon, offered up some examples to AN at the LA Auto Show. For example, a customer couldn't fit his sunglasses into the overhead compartment. "So we bought him a pair of Ray-Ban sunglasses that fit because of their shape," Cannon said.

Mercedes-Benz S-Class spied once again

Fri, 08 Feb 2013

As evidenced by how little camouflage the next-generation Mercedes-Benz S-Class has been caught wearing lately, it can't be too much longer until the car will get its official debut. In our newest shots of the yacht-sized luxo sedan, the cladding still covers up the headlights, front fascia and most of the rear end, but we finally have an almost undisguised look at the rest of the car's lines.
Considering previous spy shots had more camo that better (or fully) concealed the S-Class' body, some of the more obvious things we see in these images include the prominent grille, the CLS-Class-inspired bodyside creases, the pointed trunk opening and, most interestingly, a lack of fancy exhaust outlets. Unlike other S-Class prototypes we've seen, this car does not have integrated outlets, but it does have two pipes on the left side of the car. All current S-Class models in the US and Europe feature a dual exhaust layout on each side of the car, so while some of our questions about the car get answered, it would appear that more are just arising.
