I am selling my 1985 300TD Wagon. I have owned the vehicle for several years as a project car with the intention of converting to a two tank veggie system--which did not pan out. I got the wagon from a friend of mine who bought it with a Salvage title from Merrill Cars and Parts. The wagon will crank if persuaded, although the battery is quite old. The machine is not in museum condition the paint is showing its age and the rear hydraulic shocks need to be replaced or rebuilt. There is a leak in the hatchback that seeps into the carpet, I presume the glass pane is the issue although I haven't tracked it down. Interior is relatively clean (I included pictures of the ugly aspects, driver's visor/center column/dash cracks) Odometer shows 321,576 on original engine and transmission. Model is 123T, date of manufacture is March 1985 making this one of later machines Mercedes' made of this model. While this is not a stellar specimen, my asking price is substantially lower than the few I've seen listed on here. VIN WDBAB93C9FF047346 happy trails.
Known issues:
Battery should be replaced, although after being cranked it handles things okay...
Rear Shocks will need to be rebuilt at some point
Leak in back right corner of hatchback
All five tires are worn out
Passenger visor fell off
Driver's mirror fell out
Paint is in fair to average condition (see pictures of fading and blistered area)
Sun and age have killed the sound barrier underneath the hood
Unexpected Positives:
two spare AC compressors
extra fuel filters
smooth idle
extra seat- for middle row
third row of seats for seating up to seven
upper ball joints were replaced
new air filter
Manual moonroof works and does not leak
all windows are original with the exception of the windshield.

European automakers gear up for Brazilian production
Mon, 07 Oct 2013Brazil is the place to be, apparently. Toyota has been investing in the South American country, as has BMW, which announced a $261 million investment in October 2012, on the heels of an Audi factory announcement in San José Chiapa. The high-end immigration is only set to continue, as Mercedes-Benz and Jaguar-Land Rover have both announced plans to set up manufacturing operations there.
Mercedes is the big news here, as its new facility will see the German manufacturer invest 170-million euros for production of its next-generation C-Class and upcoming GLA-Class. "Brazil is an important future market. With our local production we accept the challenge and take on the competition," noted Andreas Renschler, Management Board member for Production and Procurement at Mercedes-Benz Cars and Mercedes-Benz Vans. Production is expected to begin by 2016.
Jaguar-Land Rover, meanwhile, isn't so concrete in its plans. The news of its investment in South America comes from a job posting for a plant quality manager in Brazil that was picked up by the UK's AutoCar. "Portuguese language skills will be definite advantage" for interested candidates, according to the job listing. The want ad follows on the heels of remarks by Jaguar Land Rover's Dr. Ralph Speth, who said there are "very intensive discussions" with Brazil's government. Unlike Mercedes, there's no mention of which vehicles will be produced in South America, although AutoCar thinks the Freelander, sold in the US as the LR2, is a leading contender.
Mercedes-Benz A45 AMG is Affalterbach's first big leap into the little pond
Tue, 05 Mar 2013The recent history of AMG is turning out amped-up versions of Mercedes-Benz offerings that would hardly ever be mistaken for their sedate counterparts. Sure, you'd need to pay attention to pick a G-Class from the G63 AMG, but dual side-pipes are a quick giveaway. The Mercedes-Benz A45 AMG is not only a new era in Affalterbach's attention on smaller cars, it is probably also the most subtle transformation we can think of in the line-up.
Low and chunky enough in standard guise to make a sporting impression, the aesthetic makeover is confined to black trim around the lower rim of the hatch, black wheels with red brake calipers and a single, rectangular exhaust tip on either side of the diffuser. It's easier to make a positive ID inside, where the flat-bottomed steering wheel, red seatbelts and red-rimmed details say, "You know what I am..."
If the car is running, though, it won't take but a second. The 2.0-liter turbo spitting 360 horsepower and 332 pound-feet will grumble through a sport exhaust at idle, and bellow through the same on it's way to a 0-60 time of less than 4.5 seconds. And if you need something that looks a little harder - and you want those quad pipes - then the A45 AMG Edition 1 is the treasure you seek. There's a press release below for all the info you'll need until the hot hatch goes on sale in Germany later this year, and photos for the rest of us while we wait to find out if we'll get a chance to buy it.
Mercedes-AMG teases GT interior, announces fall 2014 debut
Tue, 15 Apr 2014Mercedes-Benz opted to tease the assembled media at its post-New York Auto Show party, showing off a pair of images of the exquisitely crafted interior of the highly anticipated successor of the SLS AMG - the V8-powered Mercedes-AMG GT.
Slated for a debut in the fall at either Paris or Los Angeles (we're betting Paris), you'll note straight away that there's something wrong with this car's name. Where's the "Benz?" Well, it's been ditched to, as Mercedes says, "make the dream of the authentic Mercedes-AMG sports car come true." Sorry Karl.
"The new Mercedes-AMG GT proves that we will be positioning AMG as a dynamic sports car brand even more strongly and aggressively than before," said Tobias Moers, CEO of Mercedes-AMG.
