1986 Mercedes Benz 300sdl Inline 6 Turbo Diesel on 2040-cars

US $2,500.00
Year:1986 Mileage:289500
Location:

I have a 1986 Mercedes 300SDL with the 3.0 inline 6 turbo diesel. The car has 289k miles, just had a lower mileage transmission put In. The engine could use new injectors and are recommended to be replaced or rebuilt every 150k. It smokes a little and runs a little rough when cold. Car is in very good shape for the age and is clean inside. The exhaust manifold has a leak, needs a new coupler, Could use paint. Clear is faded and peeling in places. It runs and drives and is my daily driver and just made a few long trips. Brakes are strong and solid, all glass is excellent. Just had an alignment done and everything checked out great. Recently ive done oil change, fuel filters, steering damper, ignition switch, fuel lines, alignment done and lower mileage transmission installed. All windows work except passenger rear. I believe its the switch. With a little tlc this car will be a very nice car, unfortunately its not in my budget to fix her up. As is sits i wouldnt hesitate to drive across country. Uses about two quarts or oil between oil changes and drips a tiny bit but not much. Any questions please ask. Thanks

Mercedes A45 AMG in downhill battle with slipstream skateboarder

Mon, 30 Sep 2013

We're told it takes "performance, control and expression" to pilot a longboard skateboard down a mountain road, and that those happen to be the same values embodied in the Mercedes-Benz A45 AMG. That's how the two came to be combined in a black-and-white short film called Silver Slipstream.
There's no talking, no engine note and no color, just some music, a 'boarder and a car on a long cruise down the Franschhoek Pass in the Western Cape of South Africa." Despite that, it's actually a pretty entertaining video of the latest Mercedes-Benz hot hatch married with extreme sports. You can watch how it all goes down in the video below.

Firing of M-B boss upheld

Mon, 15 Jul 2013

Ernst Lieb, the disgraced former CEO of American operations for Mercedes-Benz, will not be getting any more money from the Silver Arrow'd teat. His wrongful dismissal suit against MB's parent company, Daimler, was tossed out of a German appeals panel. This, followed the initial rejection by a lower court last year.
According to court documents acquired by Automotive News, Lieb was found to have "accepted payments of substantial value to which he - as he was aware - had no claim."
Lieb took over American operations from former CEO Paul Halata in September of 2006. Reports surfaced in October of 2011 that Lieb was dismissed from his posting at MB, with a variety of rumors swirling. Eventually, news broke that financial wrong doing was responsible for the German's firing.

Mercedes widens luxury sales gap on strong early CLA demand

Wed, 02 Oct 2013

Mercedes-Benz CLA sales have been booming, with the Stuttgart-based manufacturer moving 2,300 of the sleek four-doors in its first week on sale. That is astonishing. Mercedes moved nearly twice as many CLAs (which start at $29,900) in one week than Jaguar, a brand that is on a very solid roll, sold in all of September. Ignoring the price differences between the Jag line and the CLA, that is still wildly impressive.
Mercedes has been pushing the CLA in television ads, using a shortened version of its Super Bowl spot, which starred William Dafoe, Usher and Kate Upton. "As the bargain entrance into the Mercedes portfolio, we weren't sure how luxury buyers would react," Kelly Blue Book auto analyst Alec Gutierrez told Bloomberg.
The CLA push was just part of MB's 6.7-percent increase in September sales, which were also helped along by a 17-percent jump in E-Class sales. That surge has allowed Mercedes to widen its 2013 sales lead over its rival, BMW, to 2,491 cars, according to Bloomberg. If CLA sales continue at this rate, we can only expect that margin to grow.
