Welcome to my auction.  I've owned many of these model 123 Turbo Diesels, and purchased this car a last month, with the intent to resell.  This is a no reserve auction.  My trusted mechanic has worked on this car while owned by the previous owner, and I bought it based on his good overall opinion of this car.  My ideal winning bidder will have watched the many Mercedes Repair videos by MercedesSource.com on YouTube.  It is the best source of Mercedes mechanical help, and will prepare the winning bidder about how to buy and care for this Mercedes.

The car starts easily, runs and drives well.  It needs drivers side rocker panel repair/welding/patching (behind front drivers side wheel) and drivers seat floor area repair. Please know this before making an offer or bidding.  I have a 2 body molding pieces that are off the car on the lower passenger side.

I was told from the previous owner that 5 years ago the odometer worked/didn't work.  I'm selling this as true miles unknown.  The Title and Bill of Sale is ready to be signed over to the winning bidder from the previous owner.  The a/c compressor is fairly new however the a/c system is not operative.  The interior vent fan works only in defrost.  It has a manual sunroof.  The heat works with no odd smells.  The vacuum lines look good however are untested with the door locks and other functions.  The rear hatch isn't opening, and needs fixing.  I have not gone thru this car to report if all the windows work or not.  I know all the exterior lights work.  The grill should be replaced as I put on the current one from my spare collection.  Note some of the Google pictures show the original grill.  The previous owner wanted to keep the clean grill, since they had owned the car since 1994 till recently, and were attached to this car :(  The air filter housing needs fixing and it currently can rattle (common issue).  Mercedessource sells a repair kit.  There is a 3rd seat in the trunk however I have not opened it all the way to inspect.  The tires are in very good condition.  The shocks are average.  The brakes are good.  I have an extra rear bumper that is available for sale for $200 extra should the winning bidder wish to purchase, and also the stock rims for $200 additional.  The car starts easily, with no excess smoke or noises.  See my other auction thru Sunday for a 1983 300CD .

I'm letting the many photos speak for the car.  Here's a link for many photos (again remember the nice grill is gone, so look for the old grill which is currently on the car).

Thanks and happy bidding.

Next Mercedes-Benz C-Class spotted in the snow

Mon, 11 Mar 2013

The entry-level Mercedes-Benz C-Class has long felt like nothing more than, well, just that. Aside from the potent and delicious C63 AMG models, there hasn't been much to set the C-Class apart in the entry-level luxury/sport segment, leading to the model being regarded by many as "The Cheap Mercedes." No, it's certainly not a bad car, but for our money, it hasn't stood up particularly well to competitors like the BMW 3 Series or Audi A4.
So with the handsome new CLA-Class coming to round off the entry-level end for Mercedes-Benz, big plans are in store for the C-Class. We can see some evidence of that in this latest set of spy shots from our friends at CarPix. According to earlier reports, the new C-Class will be "far more dramatic" in the visuals department, and while the sedan's sculpting is still covered by camo, the much sleeker headlamp design we see here is, at the very least, a good start. The car's overall size is expected to grow a bit to further distance itself from the CLA, though thanks to lightweight materials, curb weight isn't expected to increase.
Just like the current model, the new C-Class is expected to use four- and six-cylinder engines, both gas- and diesel-fed, and overall power output for the global engine range should span from 120-ish on the low end to as much as 330. These new engines are expected to be mounted lower and farther rearward than before, offering better balance for both rear- and 4Matic all-wheel drive configurations. And as for that AMG? Rumors suggest a turbocharged 4.0-liter V8 will fall underhood.

Aston or Bust? Maybach's fate to be decided next month

2011 Maybach 62 - Click above for high-res image gallery
What will become of Maybach? That question has been rattling around the halls of Daimler headquarters in Stuttgart for some time now. But all questions will be answered, and answered soon: according to reports, the German automaker is currently evaluating prototypes and propositions for its top-end marque, and will make its decision next month.
So, what are the options? On the one hand, Daimler could kill the Maybach brand altogether. It was a notion ill conceived and even more poorly executed, taking an old platform and building a new flagship atop it. In that way, it was sort of like the Chrysler Crossfire, only far more costly to both the buyer and manufacturer. On the other hand, Daimler could opt for the long-time-coming proposition of contracting the production (and possibly much of the development) of a new generation of Maybachs to Aston Martin.

Mercedes has already booked 30k orders for new S-Class

Mon, 21 Oct 2013

When Toyota snags 30,000 Corolla orders over a three-month span, it's entirely possible we're in the midst of a global economic collapse and that the end is nigh. That's because the scale for Toyota is so very large. Mercedes-Benz, on the other hand, operates on a much smaller scale, particularly when we talk about its higher-end models, like the S-Class.
In 2012, Mercedes sold 65,000 of its flagship sedans in Germany and the EU. That's 178 units per day, for 365 days. Based on that, you can imagine the excitement at Stuttgart when it accepted 30,000 orders for the new S-Class in just three months. That's an average of 333 per day on a continent with a notoriously shaky economy. Now, admittedly, this enthusiasm could wane as the refitted S-Class becomes more common and Mercedes achieves market saturation in Europe's many chauffeur and livery services, but Mercedes isn't choosing to look at it that way.
"The new S-Class has already jumped back into the lead in terms of new vehicle registrations in Germany and its neighboring European countries," Mercedes-Benz head of sales and marketing, Ola Kaellenius, said in a statement last week.
