No Reserve  This is your opportunity to own a fine piece of German History!!

Thank you for viewing this 1985 Mercedes 300d Turbo.  I have owned 6 Mercedes diesels of this vintage and this one of my favorites.  With one of the most coveted color combinations, green/blue Mercedes color code 877, dressed in a palomino interior; it stands above the crowd.  Known as  the million mile engine, those who are familiar with this vintage diesel Mercedes understand and appreciate the robust power train  and precision engineering that went into the W123 chassis; with the 1985 being the last of its kind.   Many consider the W123 the Rolex of vehicles and I must admit that I agree; they are known to run forever if properly maintained.    While not the fast off the start, the ascending speed is deceptive and made for highway  cruising speeds.   The build integrity is like no other; tight, firm, quite and strong.  You will not find one speck of rust on this vehicle as it has been a southern car all of its life.   In the last month, I have spent more than $650 in routine maintenance preparing the vehicle for its next owner.  Now for the details:

New belts
No leaks and minimal blow by
Vacuum locks
Original working radio
Power windows
Power Locks
New $120 battery
Professionally Detailed including the carpets
Mercedes Tex seats which last longer than leather
Working sunroof
Yes, working antenna
Cruise control

This vehicle is 100% original with the exception of the paint which was refreshed approximately 3 years ago in same prestige teal blue/green 877 Mercedes paint.

Opportunities:
a few nominal paint chips (seen in pictures)
AC is off and on
Crack in the windshield thanks to a kids baseball game
A few small dash cracks less than an inch is length

Overall,  this is a daily driver quality vehicle which turns heads and shines like a gem.  The MPG are exceptional.  The miles represent approximately 10k per year; remember low miles is not indicative of functionality, this vehicle has been properly maintained throughout its life.  The transmission shifts as designed by Mercedes and the engine compression is terrific!!!! ; see picture showing the oil pressure pegged at start. I just had the vehicle serviced for the next owner by a licensed Mercedes Mechanic whom is willing to speak to you about the vehicles overall condition.

The vehicle comes with 2 sets of keys.  This vehicle appeals to the executive, soccer mom, teen driver and everyone in between; a true piece of German history at a low price.  Look at the rest and you will see the value offered.  I know Mercedes and have owned more  than 10 in my lifetime; 6 of which were diesels.  This vehicle is offered at no reserve  and the winner will receive the value that comes with a fair Ebay listing.

Thanks again for viewing this classic and bid with confidence.

2014 Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Black Series [w/video]

Wed, 13 Mar 2013

Now Even Sharper Than The Razor's Edge
There have been five Black Series models since the Mercedes-Benz SLK55 AMG Black Series introduced itself to European audiences in 2006. Following that, the Black Series club has hosted appearances by the 2008 CLK63 AMG Black Series, the 2009 SL65 AMG Black Series and last year's 2013 C63 AMG Black Series. The sixth member of the group is one we would have thought already was a Black Series car in its standard guise. Right out of the box, the SLS AMG is loud, frenetic, cozy, boisterous and frightfully easy to oversteer. How much more Black did it need to get?
Quite a bit so, apparently. The SLS AMG Black Series has lost weight, gained power and been refitted with upgrades and aero bits from front to rear. If you liked the way it looked before, you'll probably be an even bigger fan of this one. If you thought it looked ungainly, well, this one should stay even further away from pageants. Regardless of where you come down this is the best SLS AMG variant we've driven.

AMG-powered Aston Martins still years away

Mon, 16 Sep 2013

After flirting for several years, Mercedes-Benz and Aston Martin have finally tied the knot. Just don't expect to see any offspring to result from the union for at least three or four years.
This according to Auto Express, which spoke with Daimler chief Dr. Dieter Zetsche at the Frankfurt Motor Show last week. AE reports that a new range of AMG-developed turbocharged V8s, transmissions and electrical components will make their way into the successors to the current V8 Vantage and DB9, but that these models are still a few years off.
Purists might balk at the thought of a Mercedes-powered Aston holding true to the brand's heritage. But while David Brown (for whom the DB range is named) may have steered clear of shoehorning in Detroit muscle into his cars, the entirety of the company's current range is powered by engines borrowing technology from Ford, and that arrangement seems to have worked well for Aston until now. And if you're still skeptical, look no further than Pagani and its AMG-sourced engines and you should have all the proof you need that the new relationship between Daimler and Aston could be a success.

Mercedes leads in US luxury car thefts

Wed, 31 Jul 2013

Mercedes-Benz makes some fine automobiles. The Silver Arrow'd cars are so good, apparently, that thieves can't help but try to steal them. The German brand is at the top of the charts for luxury car thefts in the US, according to the National Insurance Crime Bureau, with New York City leading the way. (And those New Yorkers complain about Detroit being bad!)
The C-Class was the most stolen model, with 485 ganked between 2009 and 2012 in NYC alone, while the E-Class and S-Class (which also boasted the worst recovery rate, at 59 percent) both finished in the top ten. Following the C-Class was the BMW 3 Series and Infiniti G. Not surprisingly, each of these were the most common models in their respective lineups. Los Angeles and Miami are also prime hotspots for luxury car thefts, according to the Detroit News report.
While getting your car stolen is pretty awful, there was one inspiring statistic compiled by the NICB - the average recovery rate across the board was 84 percent, with the Cadillac CTS getting recovered 91 percent of the time.
