A friend of mine purchased two Mercedes W123's  in Florida and trailer-ed them back to Pennsylvania.  He drove this car for 18 months and decided that this would be a parts car for the wagon.  He never finished the project so I purchased the car.  It sat in a garage while he owned it covered with a tarp and has been garaged it's entire life.  I drove it for 10,000 miles and planned on running it off of my own home-made bio-diesel but our house burned down and I never got back to the project.  My wife said it has to go since she bought me a 2003 BMW.  The dealer at the BMW store wanted me to bring the car in for a trade-in and we asked what would happen to the car and he said they would crush it for $500.  At least my wife didn't agree to that!   My loss is your gain.  Lots of new parts come with the vehicle including:  tie rods, left front caliper, right front rotor, right ball joint, flex disks, center carrier bearing, both rear axles, lower oil cooler line, motor and shock mounts. Some have been installed and some are still in boxes.  Before I drove it, I replaced the broken window (seen in pic), changed all the fluids and put another grill and headlight assembly in, dropped and cleaned the tank and fuel filter screen.  The hood was sent out to be painted and has already been primer-ed but at this price I won't have it re-painted.  I also have another set of 4 tires and Mercedes wheels and the rubber bumper strip.  The car would be a great project to finish up with not much work to make it road worthy.  I am willing to bring the car on my trailer (for no charge) up to 100 miles from my address.  (or more if if needed!)  I really don't want to see this car sold for scrap.  The pictures listed are from when I brought the car home.  It looks much nicer now.  I will take some more current pics of the exterior and interior and post them asap.   Any questions feel free to call Dave at 330-307-4258.

Mercedes dealers authorized to spend $2,500 on perks for S-Class customers

Mon, 02 Dec 2013

If you drop $100,000 on a luxury sedan, it seems only reasonable to receive some preferential treatment at the dealership you purchased from. After all, that price isn't just for the car - you're paying for the brand and all the cachet that entails. For Mercedes-Benz, those benefits have apparently been lacking relative to the German brand's luxury competitors.
That's set to change, though, as Automotive News reports that the German brand is placing a much greater emphasis on keeping its customers happy and loyal with its MB Select program. Starting with the new S-Class and spreading to the CLA-Class (and eventually beyond), dealers are being given money - up to $2,500 in the case of the flagship sedan - just to improve the customer experience.
We agree, improving the "customer experience" is quite a vague term, so it's nice that Mercedes USA's CEO, Steve Cannon, offered up some examples to AN at the LA Auto Show. For example, a customer couldn't fit his sunglasses into the overhead compartment. "So we bought him a pair of Ray-Ban sunglasses that fit because of their shape," Cannon said.

European automakers gear up for Brazilian production

Mon, 07 Oct 2013

Brazil is the place to be, apparently. Toyota has been investing in the South American country, as has BMW, which announced a $261 million investment in October 2012, on the heels of an Audi factory announcement in San José Chiapa. The high-end immigration is only set to continue, as Mercedes-Benz and Jaguar-Land Rover have both announced plans to set up manufacturing operations there.
Mercedes is the big news here, as its new facility will see the German manufacturer invest 170-million euros for production of its next-generation C-Class and upcoming GLA-Class. "Brazil is an important future market. With our local production we accept the challenge and take on the competition," noted Andreas Renschler, Management Board member for Production and Procurement at Mercedes-Benz Cars and Mercedes-Benz Vans. Production is expected to begin by 2016.
Jaguar-Land Rover, meanwhile, isn't so concrete in its plans. The news of its investment in South America comes from a job posting for a plant quality manager in Brazil that was picked up by the UK's AutoCar. "Portuguese language skills will be definite advantage" for interested candidates, according to the job listing. The want ad follows on the heels of remarks by Jaguar Land Rover's Dr. Ralph Speth, who said there are "very intensive discussions" with Brazil's government. Unlike Mercedes, there's no mention of which vehicles will be produced in South America, although AutoCar thinks the Freelander, sold in the US as the LR2, is a leading contender.

Dartz promises own 6x6 G-Class with golden shishas and a dining room

Mon, 25 Mar 2013

So you didn't really think Dartz Motorz was going to let the limited-production, 544-horsepower Mercedes 6x6 G63 AMG go without a challenge, did you? Picking up the gauntlet as only Dartz can, the Russian dream-makers have come up with the Sahara G-eopard, supposedly a special request from a buyer to make one of the 'standard' six-wheelers "more opulent and insane."
That means the vehicle from the factory gets extended by about a foot (30 centimeters), coach doors in the rear, a "yacht floor" and air conditioning that runs on its own power source, Asanti 24-inch Gold Bullion wheels and a water dispenser with Russian diamonds, which the owner will need to fill the golden shishas (hookahs) in the portable smoking room. That's right, you heard the man: a portable smoking room. Where the occupants will retire when they're finished in the portable dining room. Of course.
Yes, it will even have leopard spotting painted onto its nano-coating, and so much more. You can check out the press release below from the source. Try not to be jealous.
