This is the nicest Mercedes 300D I have ever seen. One Owner since NEW! Purchased new by a local lady and kept until she recently passed away. This car was her prized possesion and she kept it garaged and as perfect as possible during her ownership. It has always been maintained by the local Mercedes Benz dealership. Amazingly, part of the purchase contract on the car included lifetime oil changes, and believe me, she made sure the oil was always changed on time! The documentation on this car is absolutely amazing. It fills several folders. It includes the newspaer sale advertisement that promised free oil changes for life if the car was purchased that month; Both her notes from the negotiation to purchase, as well as the Salesmans notes! (I'm sure to make sure they match) As well as the original purchase contract, Hanging Tags from the interior instructing on the operation of several items, and all service records to date, all through the Local Mercedes Benz Dealership. It of course also has the complete set of books including the owners manual, Service booklet (completely stamped for all services done) Mercedes stamped identification plate with the VIN, original owners info and option codes, and more.
I have had many classic cars, especially Classic Mercedes, and rarely do you see one of these 123 Chassis Cars in such Amazing shape. Because they are nearly indestructable, most owners drove them into the ground without maintaining them. This example is the rare exception. It's just beautiful throughout. It runs and drives just as beautifuly too. The exterior is in great shape. It has had just one repaint in the original color and paint is still in great shape. All the rubber and chrome are excellent as well. It has the original hub caps on original steel wheels. The inside looks nearly new. The interior is original and still in great shape. The Dash, seats, panels and carpet are near perfect, as is the wood which never survives like this. You can definately tell that the car has been taken care of. The engine bay is original and looks extremely nice. Mechanically it has always been maintained by the Mercedes Dealer and it shows. It is well taken care of, and has just been serviced by one of the local Mercedes Specialists. All the important details are there like the original Becker Europa Stereo, Hirchman Antenna, etc. These cars are renowned for there indestructable mechanicals, great fuel mileage, and are fast becoming a major cult classic. Aston Martin and Daimler continue talks on SUV project, CEO required

The Aston Martin Lagonda SUV concept revealed at the 2009 Geneva Motor Show didn't earn the plaudits the company is used to when it reveals new models, and it has lived an uncertain life ever since. Thought to have been scrapped along with the entire revival of the Lagonda brand, then thought to have been resurrected due to Chinese, Middle Eastern and Russian demand, another year passed before we heard more definitive talk about an Aston Martin expansion when AutoCar reported that the Lagonda could be built on one of Mercedes-Benz's AMG SUV platforms.
A report in Automotive News Europe indicates plans have gotten serious, its unnamed sources saying that the English carmaker is talking to Daimler "to extend their cooperation to building an SUV." Neither Daimler, Aston Martin nor Investindustrial, the managing partner among Aston Martin's ownership consortium, would comment. But with Investindustrial having pledged to expand the range, competitors like Bentley, Maserati and Lamborghini getting into the SUV racket and clear demand from current and future customers, it's easy to believe Aston Martin is working hard to put the pieces together.
One further potential bump on the road to an Aston SUV is the company's search for a new CEO. Ulrich Bez relinquished to top spot at the company at the end of 2013, and Aston reportedly will not finalize its model strategy without a new CEO in place.

2014 Mercedes-Benz S-Class revealed again in 1:18 scale

There is plenty to look forward to when it comes to the 2014 Mercedes-Benz S-Class, but it could end up being a fairly anticlimactic reveal thanks to fully exposed spy shots, a leaked press photo and now images of a diecast version of the luxury sedan. Autoweek.nl has images showing a highly detailed 1:18 scale model of the redesigned S-Class that matches up with everything we've seen so far.
This isn't the first time a model car spoiled a new vehicle's reveal, as the 2014 Mercedes-Benz CLA-Class and 2013 SRT Viper were both unceremoniously revealed in toy form first. World Car Fans is reporting that the car 2014 S-Class will be officially unveiled on May 15, but at this point, all that's left to wonder about is the official on-sale date and what will be under the hood.

The wheel ranks right up there with the telescope and four-slice toaster in the pantheon of inventions that have moved humankind forward. But what if a circle in three dimensions had never occurred to anyone, and we all had just moved on without it? Perhaps we'd be driving around in Lucas Motors Landspeeders with anti-gravity engines. Or maybe we'd have the same cars we do today, just without wheels.
That's the thought experiment that seems to have led French photographer Renaud Marion to create his six-image series called Air Drive. The shots depict cars throughout many eras of motoring that look normal except for one thing: they have no wheels. The models used include a Jaguar XK120, Cadillac DeVille (shown above), Chevrolet El Camino and Camaro, and Mercedes-Benz SL and 300 roadsters.
Perhaps one day when our future becomes our past, you'll be able to walk the street and see with your own eyes the rust and patina of age on our nation's fleet of floating cars. Until then, Monsieur Marion's photographs will have to do.
