1976 Mercedes Benz 300d Diesel W115 Project on 2040-cars

I got this car about a year ago, it has been untouched since 1990 and sitting outside. I don't have the title. I got it started a couple hours after towing it home. However, it shows to have low oil pressure - 5psi at idle. I believe the gauge to be accurate because after taking the oil cap off while it's running it doesn't look like it's getting enough oil circulation to the head. It starts with a stumble but then idles smooth and sounds good, but the oil pressure is probably a problem. Transmission barely works. It will go about 10 mph, the shifter linkages are all nearly seized. They were totally seized when I got it, I got them moving a bit but the shifter is very stiff. Rear floor pans are rusted bad, some rear quarter panel rust. Interior was very mildewed when I got it, tried cleaning it up but it's very water damaged. Body is very straight except one dent on driver rear quarter. Tires very dry rotted, barely even sufficient to keep from bursting while sitting still. Driver door won't stay closed. This car is very rough. I'm including a set of 4 bundt wheels, all of which need new tires. Most people would not restore this car, but I would and that's why I got it. However I have decided to put my funds into my 240D. I can't control what happens to it after I sell it, but I would really prefer someone buy it who has the passion I do for these cars, and wants them back on the road. If all you see when you look at a rough condition classic car is dollar signs in the form of all the parts you could sell off of it, I'd rather not sell it to you. Please respect my wishes for this car. Bonded titles are easy to apply for but cost about $300. You just go to your insurance company, give them the vin, and ask for a bonded title. This car needs everything, and I believe it's priced accordingly. Ebay is giving me trouble uploading more than one picture. Please message me with you email if you would like me to send you more pictures. Here's a video of it running (remove the space): youtube.com /watch?v=K5vX5J13JBc&feature=youtu.be

I raised the price by $100 because I've been doing a lot of work on the car lately, and it is looking and driving better.  Still, do NOT expect to buy this and not have to do a lot of work on it.  I am NOT trying to sales-pitch anything, because if I do that the car may not find a good home with someone willing to fix all that needs fixing on it.  Here's a video of it driving though (remove the space after ".com" again):

Mercedes-Benz S63 AMG officially teased in mini video

Mon, 15 Jul 2013

The followup to the Mercedes-Benz S550, the S63 AMG, will sport a biturbocharged V8 that will likely turn out around 550 horsepower. The new engine is probably the 5.5-liter, biturbocharged V-8 that's been popping up in everything from the ML63 to the E63 AMG. The front fascia is more aggressive, which shouldn't come as a surprise, while a meaty exhaust setup can be found out back.
We managed to pick all that up from a short, 17-second video posted by MB. The original video that unveiled the S63 AMG has since been pulled down, making this YouTube clip the best look we now have at the new super sedan, at least until the Germans give up the goods for real.
Be sure to check out the video below, along with our original posting on the S63 AMG.

Mercedes calls CLA 'best launch in 20 years' as it warns dealers of tight supplies

Fri, 13 Dec 2013

It's still in the early going, but it's looking more and more like the 2014 Mercedes-Benz CLA is a verifiable home run for the German brand. According to a new report from Bloomberg, the new small car isn't just widening the sales gap between Mercedes and BMW, it's attracting a new, younger breed of customers into the brand's showrooms. But that early success is straining supplies of the turbocharged four-door.
Dealers have been warned that the first half of 2014 will see limited supplies for CLA, with a letter to dealers indicating that "tight inventories and low days supply" will exist from February through June, despite the car's Kecskemét, Hungary plant running at full tilt.
"This is our best launch in 20 years," said Steve Cannon, the US boss for Mercedes. "The CLA has been a phenomenal success right out of the gate." The numbers certainly support that. We reported in early October that Mercedes moved 2,300 CLAs in its first week on sale, and now Bloomberg is saying CLA sales were almost singlehandedly responsible for Benz's November sales gains. Mercedes' annual sales are up 14 percent through the November, and it's enjoying a healthy 7,600-car lead over BMW.

Mercedes-Benz A45 AMG shows up to fight the hottest hatches [w/videos]

Wed, 13 Feb 2013

Fun coincidence. On the same day that Audi announces the unveiling of its new S3 Sportback at the Geneva Motor Show, Mercedes-Benz steals the spotlight by confirming that the all-new A45 AMG will also receive its official debut early next month. Starting life as the entry-level A-Class hatchback, the A45 AMG gets the full AMG treatment, which includes numerous performance, handling and styling upgrades.
Under the hood sits an AMG-tuned 2.0-liter turbocharged I4 breathing through a sport exhaust system helping the five-door produce 360 horsepower and 332 pound-feet of torque. This engine is paired to a seven-speed AMG dual-clutch transmission and power is sent to the ground using 4Matic all-wheel drive. Mercedes-Benz says that the A45 AMG will be able to accelerate from 0-60 miles per hour in under 4.5 seconds and it will have a top speed of 155 mph; in the land of hot hatches, it doesn't get much hotter than that. For added performance and handling, AMG has retuned the A-Class' suspension and steering systems and equipped The A45 with a three-stage stability control system that is specific to this car.
Surprisingly, the exterior styling of the A-Class was already sporty enough that the new model doesn't receive too many changes to become the A45 AMG. The biggest alterations include black accents to the chin spoiler, rocker panels and mirror caps, black wheels with red-painted brake calipers and rectangular dual exhaust outlets. Inside, it doesn't take a trained eye to spot the differences. The flat-bottomed sport steering wheel and the numerous red accents throughout the cabin (including the seatbelts!) really help to make this AMG interior stand out; front passengers will also get sport bucket seats that appear to be more than supportive enough for even the most spirited driving conditions.
