This cool 1974 Mercedes Benz 280 has been restored with a custom look making it a very beautiful and attractive car.  The excellent red paint job, beautiful interior, original wheels and hub caps, automatic sun roof, and top notch sound system, are just some of the things that make this a very classy car.  The vehicle is in excellent condition, but does need some minor work.  The transmission slips a little bit, so should be serviced.  I've never had the ac recharged since reassembling the engine, so this will need to be done.  The engine runs like a champ, drives beautifully and car has no major damage.  4 way disc brakes in good condition.  There is no rust or deterioration.  Car looks great and is fun to drive.  Perfect for every day driver/and or cruisin.
I purchased the car in Reno, NV about 10 years ago from a private owner, who had salvaged the car.  My intentions where to bring the car back to beauty.  At the time I had been working on a lot of high end cars and hot rods for over ten years.  When it came time that I wanted to build my own car, I decided to go the opposite direction of everyone else restoring old cars and hot rods.  I have had a hand in building so many classic muscle cars that it just seemed boring to me at the time.  That is why I chose to restore a Mercedes (something different and classic).
As you can see from the pictures, this car has been gone over with a fine tooth comb.  I've replaced or rebuilt just about everything in and out, bumper to bumper.  The car has custom everything from paint to the exhaust.  It has MSD spark plug wires, Edelbrock air cleaner, Rockford Fosgate stereo system, immaculate custom interior in white pearl and red.  Custom rear bucket seats, everything upholstered to match.  The back seating allowed me to feature the subwoofer enclosure located in the trunk through a plexi glass viewing window.  Vinyl Mercedes Benz stickers along the side of car (all which may be easily removed).  When restoring the interior, I also incorporated the original (intact) first aid kit into the design, as I felt this would be something that would be hard to come by.  There are many more custom extras that I have added to the car.  The list goes on and on.
I love driving this car and the feeling I get when I cruise through town and everyone's heads turn to look at the car.  It is fun to ride in bumpin music with the windows down and sun roof open.  I have taken the vehicle to car shows and have had loads of positive feedback.  To this day, I receive compliments left and right on the vehicle, even when just taking my wife out to dinner.  This car looks awesome, feels great to drive, and is a lot of fun to own.  I am very proud of the car and it saddens me to be selling her, but all good things must come to an end.  I'm at the point in life where my wife and I have a baby on the way (couldn't be happier!) and are relocating across the country.  Although it breaks my heart to sell the car, it is what's best for me and my family at this time.  The car is in Carson City, NV where we currently live.  If you are not near the area, car can be loaded and shipped easily.  I wish that she finds herself in good hands of someone who will appreciate her and take good care of her.  If you have any questions, or would like some more photos via email or text, you may contact me at 775-351-8385.

SRT Viper dukes it out with Mercedes SLS Black Series in new Head 2 Head

Fri, 05 Jul 2013

In Episode 36 of Motor Trend's Head 2 Head, now that the Corvette ZR1 is no more, Jonny Lieberman has to look overseas to the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Black Series for a challenger with similar philosophy to the SRT Viper: long hood hiding a high-horsepower engine set way back, rear-wheel drive, tiny trunks. That puts the Viper's 8.4-liter V10 with 640 horsepower and 600 pound-feet of torque against the SLS AMG's 6.2-liter V8 with 622 hp and 468 lb-ft.
However, the congruences in philosophy and magnitude of numbers doesn't translate to the driving experiences of the two, which are literally and figuratively on different continents. Lieberman gets a handle on the two of them on Northern California roads, Randy Probst then finds out how, and how quickly, they can lap Laguna Seca.
They both get kudos for being improvements on their original sources, but only one of them can take the win. You can find out by watching the video below.

Mercedes fits new C-Class with AMG kit

Sat, 28 Dec 2013

It's only been a week and a half since Mercedes-Benz revealed the new C-Class, and it'll likely be a while yet before the replacement for the C63 AMG comes along. But if you want to see a preview of what it'll look like, look no further than the AMG aero kit that has just surfaced.
Expected to debut on the new C-Class at the fast-approaching Detroit Auto Show, the AMG Line Exterior Pack adds a new bumpers front and rear, side skirts, dual exhaust tips, mesh grille, aluminum window frames and - most importantly - 18-inch alloys packing upgraded brakes and fitted to a lowered sport suspension. All of which will help any C-Class look the part, even if the engine remains stock.

Mercedes AMG and Cigarette Racing debut 2,220-HP electric motor boat

Thu, 14 Feb 2013

Take the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG E-Cell, stretch it and take off the wheels then make it float and you've basically got the just-unveiled Cigarette AMG Electric Drive Concept. Powered by an all-electric powertrain that offers 2,200 horsepower and 2,213 pound-feet of torque (and uses "numerous components" taken from the not-quite-as-yellow SLS AMG Coupé Electric Drive), the sleek concept is being called the "world's most powerful electric drive powerboat." What that means is a top speed of over 100 miles per hour from four 60-kWh lithium-ion batteries and two banks of six liquid-cooled, permanent-magnet synchronous electric motors. And the 240 kWh of total energy should provide plenty of juice out on the water.
Launched (but not literally) at the Miami International Boat Show today, the Cigarette AMG Electric Drive Concept is the result of a partnership between Mercedes-AMG and Cigarette Racing. The boat is 38 feet long (much longer than the 15-foot SLS) and is plastered with AMG branding on the sides and top of the bow above the matte chrome yellow paint (officially called AMG Electricbeam mango). Two 220-kW chargers can refill the batteries, dockside, in about seven hours.
The idea of a powerful electric boat is nothing new (Henrik Fisker talked about a plug-in hybrid watercraft late last year), but this is the first time we've seen Mercedes put its EV technology on the water. Anyone who's afraid of driving an EV in the rain should take note. Check out the complete press release below.
