I am in love with these cars.  This is one of the cars you say to yourself I never should have sold.  To me the W108 cars are some of the best cars Mercedes ever made and our substantially undervalued.  They have recently had some attention and prices are rising. This car is a one owner that had not been driven much in the last twenty years.    It it complete with manuals, data cards, owner cars and is complete. This is a great restoration candidate, rust is minimal.  Please see photos and inspect for yourself, body is solid as is rockers and body panels.  I do see some rust underneath doors near drainage holes and some in trunk area which looks minimal.

Body

Overall very solid, undercoating still present underneath.  A very average quality repaint at some time ago.  Hood has some damage due to elderly owner misjudging space, I have a used hood if the buyer wants it.  A new paint job will make this one a superstar.

Interior

Has the rare options floor shifter, sunroof, armrests with front seat pad. Great all original black leather just the right patina.  Front seats have some areas that would need to be repaired, back seats are excellent.  I would drive as is, its up to you.  Wood on dash and doors excellent condition, wood near windshield good shape but more aging.  Heat levers broken, AC comes on but not cold, Sunroof works but is slow, drivers rear window not working.

Mechanically

Car runs and starts with no problem.  A mechanic needs to go over it as it has not been driven regularly for a while.  On a 60 mile drive I noticed brakes losing pressure at times and a little wandering over 60mph.  I am not a mechanic and would not drive the car before a full inspection.

This car is sold as is, please come and inspect it.  I want you to know exactly what you are buying.

BMW expects China to pass US as its top market in 2013

Thu, 11 Jul 2013

When you combine two billion citizens, 100 cities with more than a million inhabitants and an economy that's as unrestrained as Jim Cramer on an Adderall binge, China's explosive auto industry growth shouldn't be a huge surprise. Audi already lists the communist country as its largest market, while Mercedes-Benz is expecting it to be there in the next few years. Now, according to a report from Automotive News, BMW is expecting the People's Republic to overtake the United States in sales by the end of 2013.
We already discovered the extent that BMW is going to in establishing a dedicated Chinese stronghold, when we explored BMW's Shanghai-based DesignWorks studio ahead of April's Shanghai Motor Show. And while we argued that DesignWorks Shanghai hasn't really borne fruit, it isn't due to a lack of sales.
BMW China has seen a 16-percent jump in year-over-year sales, lead by a 28-percent gain in 5 Series sales. Part of BMW's growth strategy comes from an ever-expanding dealership network. Remember those 100 cities we mentioned with over one million people? According to Karsten Engel, CEO of BMW's Chinese operations, those 100-million-plus city dwellers don't have access to a premium dealership.

Mercedes says it's tops in luxury sales for 2012, not BMW

Tue, 19 Feb 2013

It turns out that Mercedes-Benz North America has legitimate claim to being the top selling luxury nameplate in the US in 2012.
While sources such as Autodata had put BMW in the top spot, registration data from R.L. Polk shows that Mercedes customers registering new vehicles topped the Bavarian automaker in the most recent calendar year. Polk says Benz posted 274,123 registrations, compared with BMW's 268,498.
In terms of sales posted, BMW had bested Benz 281,460 to 274,134. But sales are recorded somewhat inconsistently from automaker to automaker. Some book the sales as soon as they are shipped from factory to dealer. There is perennial gamesmanship between the two German rivals, and the sales numbers suggest that BMW pushed out some extra sheetmetal to dealers in the last four weeks of the year.

X1, 3 Series power BMW back into global luxury autos sales lead

Thu, 14 Mar 2013

BMW managed to eke ahead of Audi for the global luxury sales crown in February. According to Bloomberg, BMW saw deliveries swell by 7 percent in February, besting the 3.2 percent jump enjoyed by Audi and giving BMW a 407-unit delivery lead over its rival last month. Mercedes-Benz, meanwhile, continued to falter, with the brand selling some 37,229 fewer machines than BMW, whose factories are running at full capacity to keep up with demand. Models like the X1 (shown above) enjoyed a sales increase of 40 percent in February while the company's bread-and-butter 3 Series jumped by 26 percent.
Mercedes-Benz hopes to stem its continued market share loss with the addition of the entry-level CLA sedan to its portfolio in April. The company is set to roll out an updated version of its cash-cow E-Class at the same time, and a new-generation S-Class will follow along shortly thereafter. Meanwhile, the company is increasing production to meet demand for its A and B-Class models.
