69,000 miles or it could be 169,000 miles... I am fourth owner. The overall appearance are in excellent condition hence it must be 68,000 miles. What has been fixed since I bought it 2 years ago are professionally rebuilt hydraulic steering unit, wheel aligned... External paint is in good condition however some shows crackling on hood, few minor paint chips on right side, chips on front end from highway driving. 4.5 engine is in excellent condition so are automatic transmission and running gears. Upholstery in almost pristine condition, all is original, door sill has small few cracks on leatherette coverings. Powerful...  No rust!
Here's automobile history about the 280SE 4.5.

The 1972 Mercedes-Benz 280SE 4.5 - the period equivalent of today's S-class - is perhaps the best and most attainable example of Stuttgart's golden-age greatness.

That said, all you really need to know is this: in 1972, the engine swapping came to a head. That year, Stuttgart gifted the short-wheelbase, four-door W108 with V-8 power - a 230-hp, 4.5-liter unit derived from the 3.5-liter engine first seen in the 1970 280SE coupe and convertible.
On modern roads, surrounded by modern cars, a 4.5-liter 280SE is something of an enigma. It's that rarest of beasts - a big, old sedan that simply doesn't feel that old. The light, stiff doors shut with an endlessly solid, safelike whong that echoes a little through the interior. The fuel-injected V-8 lights off after a moment of cranking and then settles down to a smooth, almost imperceptible idle. Switches and latches feel heavy and substantial; the dash-mounted, key-shaped headlight switch chunks into position like a household circuit breaker. The stark interior is an exercise in restraint, a sparse combination of short-loop carpet, thin pillars, and unapologetically simple, well-trimmed surfaces.

All works except electric clock (could be unwired?), the heat control knobs on driver's side has been nipped off, but can be controlled by using small flathead screwdriver just to control the temp, I don't have a problem with heat controls. AC works, and may need be recharged with ozone-eating shit. Door locks do work however it's kinda tricky due to slow leak air vacuum tank (will hold up vacuum for about few hours) then restored quickly when engine starts up again. It can be driven to anywhere. Tires are of a high quality made and are in great condition! Doors shut perfectly... Electric sunroof works well. I know you would if you are in love with this car. Thanks for your interest. Why selling it? Well, I currently do drive my cheap, bulletproof diesel-powered '64 190D Benz.

Why all of this year's F1 noses are so ugly [w/video]

Fri, 31 Jan 2014

If you're a serious fan of Formula One, you already know all about The Great Nosecone Conundrum of 2014. Those given to parsing each year's F1 regulations predicted the strong possibility of the so-called "anteater" noses as far back as early December 2013. Highly suggestive visual evidence first came after Caterham's crash test in early January, with further proof coming as soon as Williams showed a rendering of the FW36 challenger for this year's championship. That car earned a name that wasn't nearly so kind as "anteater."
Casual followers of the sport - or anyone who gets the feed from this site - probably don't know what's happening, except to wonder why the current year's F1 cars are led by appendages that would make Cyrano de Bergerac feel a whole lot better about himself.
The short answer to the question of ugsome F1 noses is "FIA regulations and safety." The reason there are various kinds of ugsome noses is simpler: engineers. The same boffins who have given us advances including carbon fiber monocoques, six-wheeled cars, double diffusers and Drag Reduction Systems are bred to do everything in their power to exploit every possible freedom in the regulations to make the cars they're building go faster - the caveat being that those advances have to work within the overall philosophy of the whole car.

Mercedes-AMG GT attacks Circuit of the Americas

Fri, 12 Sep 2014

Mercedes-Benz is having a banner year with its Formula One team. Through 2014, the constructor has 454 championship points; ahead of its nearest competitor (Red Bull-Renault) by a margin of 182 tally marks. We're sure they can almost taste the champagne.
It's fitting then, and a little big cocky in a good way, that Mercedes has released a video of its newest sports car at an F1 venue. In this case, the car is the lovely Mercedes-AMG GT S, and the racetrack is Austin's Circuit of the Americas.
Having seen the official photo set and scratched the surface of the technical specifications earlier this week, we're excited to finally hear the thing run. As you might guess, the deployment of 503 horsepower and 479 pound-feet of torque from the twin-turbo V8 is a motivating experience. Crank up your volume, and hit that play button. (Oh, and Mercedes shot the thing in 4K, too, so those of you with expensive televisions/monitors should take heed to the settings.)

Mercedes FWD platform to last until 2018, convertible and two-seater future uncertain

Mon, 22 Jul 2013

Mercedes-Benz seems to be expecting a lot of success from its front-wheel-drive CLA-Class. Automotive News is reporting that the sub-C-Class sedan could grow when its second generation arrives in 2018.
The current FWD platform for MB underpins the CLA, the B-Class, the GLA-Class, and the A-Class. The B-Class will arrive in North America as an EV for spring of 2014, while the production GLA crossover will arrive three to four months after that. The five-door A-Class won't be crossing The Pond. Sad faces all around.
According to AN, another model will be based on the front-drive architecture, but it won't be coming to the US market. Set to arrive next year, rumors are that it'll be a wagon version of the CLA, sort of like the ill-named five-door CLS Shooting Brake that is also a Europe-only item.
