HI, SELLING A 1966 MERCEDES BENZ 230 SL HARDTOP-CONVERTIBLE FOR MY NEIGHBOR. REAR DECKLID EMBLEM SAYS 250, BUT IT'S A 230. PREVIOUS OWNER WAS UNABLE TO FIND THE CORRECT EMBLEM, SO A SUBSTITUTION WAS MADE. HE'S HAD IT FOR 10 PLUS YEARS, AND IT'S BEEN A GREAT CAR FOR HIM.  PLEASE CHECK OUT PICS AND ASK QUESTIONS IF YOU HAVE ANY, AND I'LL DO MY BEST TO GET ANSWERS. IT'S BEST DESCRIBED AS ABOVE AVERAGE DAILY DRIVER CONDITION. USED AS SOLE MEANS OF TRANSPORT BY METICULOUS ELDERLY GENTLEMAN, WHO REFRESHED THE CAR WITH A REPAINT FROM WHITE TO GREY/BEIGE IN 2003, AND KEPT UP ON ITS MECHANICAL AND PHYSICAL SYSTEMS. THIS IS HIS PRIDE AND JOY. HAS GREAT SOUNDING PIONEER SUPERTUNER CASSETTE STEREO WITH 4 SPEAKERS. I'M SURE NEW OWNER WILL WANT TO REPLACE WITH A BECKER, BUT THE  CURRENT OWNER IS PROUD OF HIS STEREO. CAR IS SELDOM DRIVEN , BUT AS OFTEN AS OWNER NEEDS IT, AND THEN IS COVERED. THE CAR HAS NEVER LET MY NEIGHBOR DOWN AS FAR AS DEPENDABILITY. HE TRULY CAN SAY THIS IS A FLY-IN , DRIVE HOME CAR MECHANICALLY, BUT WILL NEED TIRES FOR SAFETY, AS THEY HAVE SUFFERED DRY ROT FROM SITTING.  CAR HAS HAD 5,000 MILES PUT ON IT IN TEN YEARS, ACCORDING TO THE ODOMETER, AND THE OWNER. THE INTERIOR HAS BEEN REDONE IN BLUE. THE CAR IS A MANUAL, AND RUNS GREAT. THE MOTOR WAS REBUILT ACCORDING TO WHAT THE PREVIOUS OWNER TOLD MY NEIGHBOR, BUT THERE IS NO DOCUMENTATION FOR THAT. I HAVE GATHERED ABOUT THIS MUCH INFORMATION FROM MY NEIGHBOR, WHO IS 90 YEARS OLD, AND I DON'T WANT TO INTERROGATE HIM TOO MUCH, ONLY WANT TO HELP HIM SELL HIS CAR. PLEASE ASK QUESTIONS IF YOU HAVE THEM, AND BE 100% CERTAIN AND CONFIDENT & COMMITTED  IN EVERY WAY, AS I'M SELLING IT FOR HIM AS-IS, AS A CLASSIC CAR IN DRIVER CONDITION. EVERY NUT AND BOLT IS NOT NEW. IT'S NOT A FRAME-OFF ROTISSIERRIE RESTORATION, SO PLEASE DON'T ASSUME IT WILL BE IMMACULATE. IT'S "NICE", THAT'S HOW I'D PUT IT.THERE ARE IMPERFECTIONS IN THE PAINT, BUMPER, AND TRIM, AS WOULD BE EXPECTED FROM A DRIVEN CAR THATS 47 YEARS OLD. PLEASE SEE ABOVE FOR A DESCRIPTION OF OBVIOUS NOTED IMPERFECTIONS SEEN ON MY QUICK WALK-AROUND. I DO NOT KNOW THIS CAR PERSONALLY, AND HAVE NEVER DRIVEN IT.  THIS IS THE KIND OF CAR THAT IS "REALLY NICE", BUT NEEDS SOME ATTENTION IN CERTAIN AREAS TO BE TAKEN TO THE NEXT LEVEL OF EXHIBITION QUALITY. IN MY OPINION AND THE OWNERS ACCOUNTS, ITS TRULY A NICE CAR THAT GETS MANY COMPLIMENTS, MEANT TO BE DRIVEN AND ENJOYED TO ITS FULLEST POTENTIAL BY A MORE YOUTHFUL DRIVER. I WOULD BUY IT, BUT I'M A VETTE GUY. NOTE: WE REALLY DON'T KNOW HOW ANY TYPE OF TAXES WORK ON THIS, BUT BUYER IS RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY SALES TAXES.  THIS IS A PERSONAL CAR FROM A PRIVATE OWNER.  FURTHERMORE, ALL LEGAL & FINANCIAL RESPONSIBILITES FOR ALL ASPECTS OF THIS AUCTION AND SUBSEQUENT SALE / TRANSFER OF OWNERSHIP ARE ASSUMED BY THE CURRENT OWNER OF THE CAR. THANKS.

Daimler employees can set email to auto-delete during vacation

Mon, 18 Aug 2014

The Internet has shrunk the world in terms of the way people communicate by making it possible to send an email from Oslo and have it show up in Cleveland almost immediately. But that instant contact has wrecked the work/life balance for many. They get home from a long day at the office, yet they can never fully put their feet up and relax because another hour or more of checking and replying to emails awaits. However, German automotive giant Daimler is putting an end to that churn, at least while its employees are on vacation.
About 100,000 Daimler employees in Germany are eligible to opt-in to a new program called Mail on Holiday, according to The Atlantic. When the workers go on vacation, they can switch it on, and the service auto-deletes all of their incoming email. "Our employees should relax on holiday and not read work-related emails," said Wilfried Porth, board member for human resources, to The Financial Times as cited by The Atlantic.
Mail on Holiday puts a thumb on the scale of work/life balance in favor of a little more free time. The system means that Daimler employees shouldn't even be tempted to check their email on vacation because there's nothing there - and it also avoids them coming back from a relaxing holiday only to find a mailbox packed full of hundreds of unread messages. These days, people are absolutely obsessed with their work, often to the detriment of their health, not to mention spending time with their families and friends. On one hand, Mail on Holiday sounds like the sort of vacation breakthrough we'd need to truly unplug and unwind, but on the other hand, it makes our skin crawl just thinking about the lack of communication. What's your perspective? Have your say in Comments.

In Which Mercedes' Sprinter Becomes A Long-Distance Sherpa
In the wintery wilds of northern Alaska, even the cute little critters want to kill you.
As I am about to nod off on my long leg flight from Minneapolis to Anchorage ahead of driving to the Arctic Circle, the friendly twenty-something Alaskan knitting furiously in the seat next to me pauses and says, "When you're driving up there, don't open your windows." In the dead of winter? I hadn't planned on cruising alfresco, but her warning to keep the glazing snugged against the weatherstripping is one I would take to heart. She continues: "If you leave 'em open, a fox is liable to jump right in. There are lots of rabid foxes up there, and they leap into your car and just Go. To. Town." And here I was, thinking that a curious bear or maybe an ill-placed moose in the road was going to be my biggest potential four-legged threat. In the wintery wilds of northern Alaska, even the cute little critters want to kill you.

Mercedes-AMG teases GT interior, announces fall 2014 debut

Tue, 15 Apr 2014

Mercedes-Benz opted to tease the assembled media at its post-New York Auto Show party, showing off a pair of images of the exquisitely crafted interior of the highly anticipated successor of the SLS AMG - the V8-powered Mercedes-AMG GT.
Slated for a debut in the fall at either Paris or Los Angeles (we're betting Paris), you'll note straight away that there's something wrong with this car's name. Where's the "Benz?" Well, it's been ditched to, as Mercedes says, "make the dream of the authentic Mercedes-AMG sports car come true." Sorry Karl.
"The new Mercedes-AMG GT proves that we will be positioning AMG as a dynamic sports car brand even more strongly and aggressively than before," said Tobias Moers, CEO of Mercedes-AMG.
