1959 Mercedes Benz 190Sl The Road & Track October 1955 Test Said "The outstanding achievement of the 190SL is without a doubt its quality in design and workmanship. But a close second is the general feeling of solidity which it immediately conveys..." There's nothing like driving a 190sl, although it is known as the Little brother of the Iconic 300sl (Gulwing) It is a must to drive. With all the history behind this vehicle and the amazing driving experience, this vehicle is a must have, considering that it's 55 years old and has independent suspension she drives like a dream. If your looking for a beautiful car that gets a lot of attention: this is it! especially with its bright red paint and its unique body. The vehicle is mechanically sound. I just had new Weber carburetors installed. at the local Mercedes specialist with a full tune up. The suspension is perfect and has all new Bilstein shocks and pretty new tires. The transmission is sound, the clutch is relatively new transmission shifts smooth and goes through every gear. I also recently had a new carpet installed and firmed up the seats. The seats are original and in great shape. I also had a new alpine head unit, with four speakers installed and a four channel amplifier. the head unit is in the glove box and the front two speakers are under the dash. I believe the front speakers are hanging by the magnet in the back of them. and the back two speakers are mounted in the wood removable floor board. I forgot to take pictures with the top closed. the top is in great condition and i believe it is original I I reserve to end the auction early since the car is for sale locally. The vehicle is sold as is where is. and there is a $2,000.00 dollar deposit due 24 hours of auction end. and the vehicle must be picked up within 5 days of auction end. The vehicle is available to come and look but not drive you must make an appointment. if you have any questions feel free to message. |

New Mercedes Unimog debuts to the cheers of little boys everywhere [w/video]
Sat, 27 Apr 2013The Mercedes Unimog, the superhero villain of the off-road world that's just waiting to make the jump to Transformer, has been completely upgraded for its new generation. There are ten models, expanding the range and getting new designations across the traditional all-terrain series and the implement-carrier series. Panoramic cabins get more visibility, multifunction steering wheels and better dash clusters, improved HVAC and a three-mode central tire inflation system. Outside, there are new items like LED headlights and daytime running lamps in the bumper, roof-mounted windshield wipers and a front-camera monitor for the implement carrier.
The new engine lineup is compliant with Euro VI, featuring four- and six-cylinder BlueEfficiency engines putting out anywhere from 156 horsepower to 354 hp. Powerplant placement has also been tweaked, the chassis members getting a revised curve to place the engine a bit further back and lower, maintaining off-road clearance and lowering the Unimog's center of gravity. The new location of the engine means the cabin has more room, and the wheelbase is shorter. Combined with a higher turning angle, the Unimog has a smaller turning radius than before.
The implement carrier gets what's called a "synergistic traveling drive," the bonus being that drivers don't need to stop in order to use an attachment - a hydrostatic transmission works with the regular manual transmission at up to 31 kilometers per hour for seamless switching.
2014 Mercedes-Benz S500 Plug-in Hybrid for fat cats frugal with fuel
Thu, 12 Sep 2013Judging by how long we waited to get a clear shot of the Mercedes-Benz S500 Plug-in Hybrid, you'd have thought hybrid cars were only driven by Terminators and that the technology arrived only 48 hours ago through a wormhole in the Mercedes stand. The newest member of the Mercedes-Benz S-Class hybrid band - joining the S400 Hybrid and S350 BlueTEC Hybrid, it hits notes like a 5.5-second sprint from standstill to 62 miles per hour, up to 19 miles of ion-powered running and uses three liters of gasoline per 100 kilometers in Europe (78.41 mpg US, but our mpg test cycle is different than their mpg test cycle).
The lump up front is a turbocharged, 3.0-liter V6, the lump in back - note the reduction in trunk space - is a pack of lithium-ion batteries that juice an 80-kilowatt electric motor. Other than having four drive options for controlling electric drive and battery usage, it's all S-Class all the time, with leather-covered everything and those mountainous thrones that bring to mind words like "Archduke" and "Papal."
You'll find our hard-earned gallery from the Frankfurt Motor Show floor above, and more words of information in the press release below.
Autoblog drives to the Arctic Circle
Fri, 22 Mar 2013In Which Mercedes' Sprinter Becomes A Long-Distance Sherpa
In the wintery wilds of northern Alaska, even the cute little critters want to kill you.
As I am about to nod off on my long leg flight from Minneapolis to Anchorage ahead of driving to the Arctic Circle, the friendly twenty-something Alaskan knitting furiously in the seat next to me pauses and says, "When you're driving up there, don't open your windows." In the dead of winter? I hadn't planned on cruising alfresco, but her warning to keep the glazing snugged against the weatherstripping is one I would take to heart. She continues: "If you leave 'em open, a fox is liable to jump right in. There are lots of rabid foxes up there, and they leap into your car and just Go. To. Town." And here I was, thinking that a curious bear or maybe an ill-placed moose in the road was going to be my biggest potential four-legged threat. In the wintery wilds of northern Alaska, even the cute little critters want to kill you.
