Up for sale is my Mercedes 190D with the larger 2.5 diesel engine and 5 speed transmission. To me this is the finest combination of drivetrain options with the added speed, economy and control that the manual provides and the efficiency and durability of the legendary 5 cylinder diesel engine. For more about the 190 search kenrockwell 190D, he did a thorough writeup/ tribute to this awesome line of cars. This particular example has been well cared for as far as fluid changes and regular maintenance though it is in need of some things to bring it up to snuff. It has a clean interior but with the requisite dash cracks and drivers seat edge wear. Cut on drivers door arm rest and the seatback netting is removed. It comes with heated orthopedic air seats. The heated seat function works the air adjustable ortho seats worked fine until the trunk lock stopped working, taking out the central locking with it- so that should be addressed. The transmission is buttery smooth and works perfectly, some occasional clutch chatter when cold, then operates normally. I had this checked and the mechanic thought the clutch was fine. It has been showing this identical behavior for the 60k I have driven it. Engine runs out well and doesn't burn oil. Passenger side front spring perch needs to be replaced at some point soon. One headlight has a chip, replacement light included. Rust repair needed where the jack points are. Exhaust from manifold up to muffler section is a few seasons old and in good shape. Analog clock keeps perfect time without any drift. Trailer hitch and wiring loom with 1 7/8 ball. Tows nice. Fan blower motor and speed switch was just replaced as was the igniton lock, both common problems. Shocks are OEM Bilstein comfort and about 4 years old. Tires are matching Avid S33 LRR and have about 40% left or so. Heat works great, ac does not but is complete, probably needs a charge. Cruise control does not work but is complete. Stereo CD is a nice Clarion DB175MP with external jack for your ipod or whatever. 50w x4. One of the JBL speakers is crackly and may be blown. Sunroof stopped working 2 days ago! Arggh. I hear the switch motor clicking so it is getting power to it. Spring in drivers seat bottom is broken. Comes with Haynes service manual and the items pictured including 4 snows mounted on sepated mercedes rims. 2 of the snowtires are good with plenty of tread left two of them are worn. Door checks need service/replacement. Car drives well around town and has that solid Mercedes feel. On the highway it is a little floaty with a corkscrew type motion when you hit a bump. Still corners on rails coming off of the ramp. Paint has been touched up by me and is serviceable though I would recommend a respray. Clear title and service records on hand. Oil changed every 3000 with 15/40 rotella recently switched to 5/40 synthetic. This car does not leak fluids. I recently replaced the o rings on the fuel delivery pump as they were leaking. The front lower airdam is cracked and I duck taped over it and painted it as a temp fix. I was going to rivet a piece of plastic over the crack, or replace. The radiator support is rusted, another common but minor 190 ailment. The later photos show included parts such as- two bottles of diesel purge, red bottle is power service fuel conditioner(always used), front wheel bearing (bought two only one side needed replacing) tie rod and ball joint (shop wanted to use there own parts so ones installed are good) various filters, ortho seat switches, underbody panels, etc. These are all the issues/ features of the cars that I can come up with after inspecting it. I try to represent things I sell honestly, not only because it is the right way to be, but in the end it is easier for everyone. That being said, I may have missed something so please ask any and all questions. Thanks!

Mercedes-Benz Concept GLA gets official ahead of Shanghai
Thu, 18 Apr 2013Mercedes-Benz has something special planned for the Shanghai Motor Show - a new CUV concept that we first saw when it leaked on the internet yesterday. The GLA Concept compact crossover will hit the show stand with a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine producing 208 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque mated to a seven-speed dual clutch transmission and 4Matic all-wheel drive, and likely previews a new production model that we've already spotted testing.
That's not news, but the laser-based headlamps with video-projecting capability certainly are. Mercedes-Benz says the array can project any image or video onto a screen, which is handy since there are a pair of HD cameras mounted to the roof rack. The cameras can be removed and taken with you on all sorts of adventures. The lamps also feature a visible cooling system comprised of a series of fans, and the system helps give the headlights their "sparkle" effect.
Step indoors and the GLA offers up the interior of a high-quality crossover, complete with contrasting leather and plenty of aluminum. The automaker says the cabin was inspired by saddle craftsmanship with "more than 65 feet of hand-stitched seams to hold the raw edges of the leather together."
Mercedes testing C-Class plug-in hybrid modes in Germany
Wed, 07 May 2014Testing appears to be underway for what would be the first Mercedes-Benz C-Class with a hybrid powertrain. We can see a pair of the prototypes undergoing testing in Germany, with one, a C-Class Wagon, still heavily clad in camouflage and featuring a more noticeable outlet on the passenger side of its rear bumper.
There's also a more production-looking sedan, which features a not-so-discreet flap over its rear-bumper outlet. It's difficult to speculate on power outputs for this fuel-sipping C-Class, although our spies seem to think that this car will feature some combination of a four-cylinder gas engine with an electric motor, although just which four is unclear (note, we wouldn't mind if MB fit its 2.0-liter turbo with some batteries and motors). Regardless, the four-pot/electric motor seems like a pretty reasonable combo, although it probably means that Mercedes won't be challenging the six-cylinder-powered system of the BMW ActiveHybrid3 any time soon.
When the plug-in C-Class arrives later this year as a 2015 model, it will likely offer a full range of driving modes, including both gas or electric, only, as well as a more traditional hybrid mode.
2014 Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Black Series [w/video]
Fri, 15 Nov 2013The biggest misconception about the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Black Series is that it's simply a higher-performing version of the SLS GT - a closer look, or better yet, a few hot laps on a high-speed racing circuit, reveals that is anything but the case.
Launched in the States in mid-2011, the standard SLS GT is a 583-horsepower, all-aluminum, gull-wing coupe with performance that positions it near the top of the exotic segment. While the AMG team at Mercedes-Benz could have left it alone, their experience with the SLS AMG GT3 race car said there was room for improvement, so they devised the SLS Black Series. The transformation from SLS GT to SLS Black Series is extensive, with no fewer than 17 different significant enhancements.
The engine mapping, crankshaft, connecting rods, valve-train, intake, exhaust and cooling are all modified and the engine's redline bumps up from 7,200 to 8,000 rpm, which pushes output of the hand-built 6.3-liter V8 to 622 horsepower. The power steering receives a new ratio, a coil-over AMG Adaptive Performance suspension is installed along with underbody braces, the track is widened, two-piece carbon-ceramic brakes replace iron rotors at each corner and a lightweight titanium exhaust is fitted beneath. The AMG Speedshift seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox is modified and an electronically controlled AMG rear differential lock ensures the power goes to the pavement. Last on the mechanical upgrades are new lightweight forged wheels (10x19 inches front and 12x20 inches rear) wrapped in special R-compound Michelin Pilot Sport Cup tires.
