Excellent condition. Local car in Portland, Oregon area, where salt is not used on the roads. So the body panels are strong and solid. Car was garaged. Two owners.
The miles are true. The wheels are free of rust. All original equipment with two additions: 1) Borla stainless steel exhaust system, which is mellow, not loud, 2) white stabilizer bar, see pictures, secures tops of front suspension. This convertible feels tight as a coupe because Mazda built it especially as a convertible, rather than as a chopped-top coupe. It is dry and warm -- or cool with A/C. The top has a unique hard panel over the seats, which is removable like a T-top. It helps it feel quiet and tight. Yet the panel folds in nicely when you power the top down. Another panel behind the seats limits wind buffeting with the top down. There are speakers in both headrests, with individual volume controls. This RX7 drives great. Everything works, even cruise control, power top, power mirrors, etc. The motor is like new, always starts easily, and runs smoothly up to its 8000 rpm red line. With 160 horsepower, performance is brisk, but not scary. The handling is superb, with Michelin tires and well-damped suspension. NEW: radiator and coolant, rear brake pads and brake fluid, motor oil and filter, transmission oil, differential oil. The paint is pretty new, and very well-done. Feds investigating 2010-11 Mazda CX-9 CUVs over braking issues
Mon, 17 Feb 2014The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is investigating 62,000, 2010-2011 Mazda CX-9 models over brake problems. The government safety watchdog says it has received seven complaints of an observed loss of power braking power to stop the crossover, according to the The Detroit News.
The NHTSA complaints say that the problem causes a hard pedal, increased braking effort and reduced braking effectiveness. Some complaints allege that they hear a hissing noise during braking similar to the sound of air leaving the tires. No injuries or crashes have been reported.
"As always, we are fully cooperating with NHTSA on their investigation. We cannot comment further at this time," said Mazda spokesperson Tamara Mlynarczyk to The Detroit News.
Toyota, Honda, Nissan and more collaborating to increase fuel efficiency
Sun, 25 May 2014Toyota, Honda, Mazda, Nissan, Subaru, Mitsubishi, Suzuki and Daihatsu have announced an alliance that will see a push to improve fuel economy from both gas-powered and diesel-powered engines by as much as 30 percent before the end of the decade.
The newly assembled Research Association of Automotive Internal Combustion Engines put the roughly $20-million project together, with the Japanese government committing to half the cost while the eight manufacturers will chip in the rest.
According to Automotive News, the automakers will team up and share basic research on internal-combustion engines in a bid to cut costs. Eventually, the results of the research will find its way into a production vehicle, although it's unclear just when we'll see the fruits of this partnership on the road.

According to our friends across the pond, the new Mazda3 MPS (that's what the Speed3 is called in Her Majesty's auto industry) will be arriving with a new, high-revving, naturally aspirated engine. Wait, what?
Yes, if the rumors are to be believed, the next Mazdaspeed3 will ditch its turbocharger. According to an anonymous engineer, the new MS3 will arrive in December (this is for the UK market, mind you) with a 200-horsepower, naturally aspirated engine. The 2.0-liter mill is based on the Skyactiv engine in the new 3, and should be capable of a sub-seven-second run to 62 miles per hour.
