1986 Mazda Rx-7 Turbo 13b Jdm/rhd on 2040-cars
Edwards, California, United States
My car is exempt from DOT/EPA requirements. Was imported under the 25 year US exempt Law. Which basically means that the vehicle does not require emissions testing, crash testing, modifications at all. Unless you live in CA (which I do) where emission modification requirements are necessary. All other states you should be okay to walk inside your DMV and walk back out with registration, but do your homework first. I am able to ship the vehicle anywhere in the US at the buyers expense. Will be sold with Customs Bond Release papers, Bill of Lading, Title in Japanese and in English, Bill of Sales. Everything needed to register in the USA. Sold As Is. Buyer responsible for arranging vehicle pick up/transport/shipment. I am located in California. I purchased this car in Japan in 2013 just before I transferred, I wanted to drive it everyday and tweak on it here and their. Well I didn't do all my homework and found out later that I can not register it in CA without proper emissions. So I put it in the garage and there it sat until now. I am selling because I am headed back overseas. My lost is your gain. The car is in really good shape for being a 1986 almost rust free. The research I did prior to purchase tells me that Mazda did not ship any Turbo's to the USA until 1987 so this is one of a kind. If you have any questions feel free to contact me. The VIN for the vehicle is FC3S107867 and I have included pictures of it. |

Takata airbag recall spreads to China with 42k Mazda sedans
Mon, 07 Jul 2014The scope of the problem with the faulty airbag inflators from Takata continues to broaden and is now reaching China, as well. Mazda is recalling 42,732 Mazda6 units there, produced by its local joint venture partner China FAW Car Company, to replace the front passenger airbags. It comes as part of Mazda's recall of nearly 160,000 vehicles worldwide, including about 34,600 in the US, according to Reuters.
This is the same problem that caused seven automakers in the US to recall an estimated 2.1 million vehicles in late June. The airbag inflators can potentially explode instead of deploying the airbag, which hampers the bag's inflation. In some cases occupants are also hit by the metal shrapnel, which can cause further injuries. In the US, Mazda is repairing the 2003-2007 Mazda6 (pictured above), 2006-2007 Mazdaspeed6, 2004 MPV and 2004-2008 RX-8 originally sold in or currently registered in Florida, Puerto Rico, and Hawaii.
This is hardly the first instance of this issue. Since 2001, there have been 20 recalls tied to the exploding airbags supplied by Takata. The problem is possibly linked to the propellant in the inflators, but there's no conclusive evidence of that yet. Most of the automakers in the US limited the most recent recalls only to a few humid states because moisture potentially exacerbated the problem.
Mazda's awesome Hiroshima museum now navigable by Google Maps
Fri, 15 Mar 2013Visiting an auto museum is one of the best ways we know to connect with car culture and to commune with the past and bone up on one's knowledge. Most of us have a decent museum within a few hours drive of where we live, but that doesn't mean it's easy to see the world's great collections - factors like cost, time and mobility can get in the way. Videos are great, but they don't allow us to browse at our own pace or choose what we'd like to focus on. The folks behind Google Maps have a solution - the virtual museum tour, as seen here at Mazda's fantastic museum in Hiroshima, Japan.
The Google Maps tour allows viewers to take a walk through the main exhibition area of the museum, and you can focus on specific classic cars from Mazda, or check out displays featuring new technologies like Skyactiv. To take a quick spin through the museum - or a leisurely stroll at your own pace - scroll down to start your own virtual tour.
2013 North American Car and Truck/Utility of the Year finalists announced [w/poll]
Wed, 12 Dec 20122012 is almost in the books and automakers are spending December gearing up for the 2013 auto show season, which tips off next month at the Detroit Auto Show. Traditionally, the latter opens up with the announcement of the North American Car and Truck/Utility of the Year awards, and this year figures to be no different.
But up until this moment, we didn't know which six vehicles would be parked ahead of the stage as finalists, with executives and engineers waiting for the winners to be disclosed. Whittled down from October's "short list" of nominees (11 cars and 10 truck/utility vehicles), the finalists are as follows:
