For all of you RX-7 fans, it is our pleasure to offer this pristine second to last year of the first generation RX-7 for your consideration.

The Persimmon Red Metallic Clearcoat (R7) looks almost as nice as the day it rolled off the showroom floor, and the gray cloth interior is in exceptional condition.

This is the GSL model, so it is loaded with options, including air conditioning (ice cold), cruise control, power windows, and sunroof (both glass and metal).

The 1.2 liter rotary engine (12A) runs perfectly and the 5 speed manual transmission is tight and the clutch is strong. It rides on a nearly perfect set of original alloy wheels with an excellent set of matched tires. It starts right up, idles smooth, accelerates as it should, has no vibrations at any speed, tracks and stops straight and true. It is a true joy to drive!

The CarFax report shows no accidents and just two previous owners. Tucked in the glove compartment is the original owner's manual and some paperwork/receipts from the original owner. This RX-7 has less than 72,000 original miles!

It is a rust free car. There are several (approximately 8) small dings on the hood, some (approximately 5) on the roof, and approximately 6-10 dings on each side, but none have paint damage and should be able to be smoothed out with paintless dent repair. It is believed the car has been repainted at some point in the original color, but if so, it was done exceptionally well, as there is no overspray, orange peel, runs or other noticeable imperfections.

Inside, the radio station selection button is missing, the driver's side OEM floor mat is torn, and the rear carpet is faded (replacement cover shown in photos). Other than that it is in amazing condition inside. Everything works and has no signs of ever being smoked in - it is clean and has no offensive odors.

As a recap:

Mechanicals: No issues - Motor, Transmission, Clutch, Brakes, and Exhaust all excellent.

Exterior: No rust; minor dings; minor stone chips, no broken lights; all lights work.

Interior: No odors, very clean, everything works, minor imperfections.

Other: I won't say this is the nicest RX-7 out there, but I can assure you this is an incredibly nice car, and far and away the nicest one I have ever seen. I get lots of comments and accolades, especially from the RX-7 aficionados. This really is the one you don't want to let get away...

2014 Mazda3

Tue, 28 Jan 2014

Almost by definition, affordable compact cars aren't supposed to be fun. Sure, hot hatches get our blood pumping, but not long ago, the terms "compact car" and "economy car" could safely be used interchangeably. A key exception for the last decade has been the Mazda3, a car that has consistently delivered more dynamic thrills and tactile feedback than its contemporaries. Competitors have picked up their game significantly in recent years, however, leaving the Mazda3 wanting in several areas, including overall refinement, in-car technology and cabin appointments, so Mazda went back to the drawing board to create this all-new third-gen model for 2014.
Including this redesigned 2014 model, Mazda's recent crop of new products have targeted North America's hottest non-truck segments - compact car, midsize sedan and compact crossover/SUV. Yet it might be fair to call this launch the most important of them all, as the 3 remains the Japanese marque's best-selling vehicle. While America's pool of compact hatchbacks isn't exactly deep, the 2014 Mazda3 still has a challenging road ahead of it competing against two-box compacts that include the popular Ford Focus and recent additions like the all-new Kia Forte and the still-new Hyundai Elantra GT.

Mazda2 nets Japan Car of the Year, Cherokee first US model to ever crack top 10

Tue, 14 Oct 2014

The 2015 Mazda2 is quite high up on our must-drive list. Yes, the teeny, tiny successor to the 100-horsepower five-door is worth getting excited over, largely because the previous generation was one of the absolute best smiles-per-dollar values on the market.
While we eagerly await for our opportunity to take to the 2's helm, our expectations of the new car have just been heightened thanks to its win in Japan's Car of the Year competition. Called "Demio" in the land of the rising sun, Japanese journalists handed out Mazda's second COTY award since the CX-5 took the title in 2012.
In more surprising news, the new Jeep Cherokee has made the list of 10 Best Cars in Japan. The Jeep's triumph marks the first time an American car has cracked the top ten, finishing eighth. It's not, however, the first Fiat Chrysler vehicle to snag the title, following in the footsteps of the Alfa Romeo Giulietta and Fiat Panda. Still, the fact that an American brand can make such impressive inroads into the traditionally tough-to-crack Japanese market is a seriously big deal.

Mazda6 Skyactiv-D racecar gets first win at Road Atlanta

Tue, 23 Apr 2013

Mazda has a long motorsports history, and one that is peppered with fascinating cars. The latest chapter in Mazda's racing story has just been written, as Joel Miller and Andrew Carbonell have driven the Visit Florida Racing Mazda6 Skyactiv-D to the car's first ever victory at the Rolex Grand-Am GX race at Road Atlanta. The win marks the first ever for Mazda's diesel-burning, production-car based Skyactiv-D racer, and the first win for a diesel-powered car in a Grand-Am event.
In fact, it was a particularly good day for the Mazda Motorsports team, as a Mazda6 also picked up the third finishing spot at Road Atlanta. Director of Mazda Motorsports, John M. Doonan, said of the racecar, "We've always said that the best street cars make the best racecars, and, with more than half of the components in the race engine being shared with the street engine, this program is a solid proof-point."
SpeedSource Engineering, which helped to build the Mazda6 racer, was greatly heartened by the car's performance in just it's fourth-ever race. Owner Sylvain Tremblay called the victory, "a tribute to the thousands of hours of hard work over many months," continuing, "The normal plan with a new car is to spend the first year in development, the second year seeking race wins, and challenging for a championship in year three. We are already at our year-two status after four races. We can't wait to get to the Belle Isle course in Detroit for round five."
