For sale is my 2005 Mazda 6 s Sport Sedan Hatchback.  It is in great running condition.  It has 173,500 miles but still runs and drives like new.  I have been getting 30 mpg highway with it and 25mpg combined driving. The engine oil has been changed with Mobil 1 synthetic every 5,000 miles as well as regular fluid changes.  The engine runs smoothly and the 6 speed automatic transmission shifts good. It has leather seats (with heated driver and passenger seat) that are in good condition with no tears.  It has the BOSE premium sound system in it, with a 6-disc CD changer.  I have done an AUXmod to the car so that you can hook up your phone/iPod through an auxiliary cable directly to the radio and it works great. (http://www.sylfex.com/products/AuxMod/)

This Mazda6 is the S series which has all the bells and whistles.  All electronics work properly and all the power options work good (including the sunroof, which has no leaks).  It has the sport suspension and it handles great.  The rims on the car are the original rims but I have painted them black with PlastiDip.  As well as the emblems on the car.

I wouldn't hesitate to drive this car anywhere, it has been very dependable.  It has a new front brake caliper (passenger side), new wheel bearings, and new front brakes.

Some TLC:

There are some small chips on the lip of the hood, (road wear and tear). It will need tires down the road, should get through the summer but will need new tires for next winter season.

The Blue Book Value has the car valued at $5844 in very good condition and I think that it is worth every penny of that.  If auction goes over $6,000 I will throw in a set of 4 brand new all season tires for the car.

Any questions please do not hesitate to ask.

Ever wonder how to really pronounce Japanese automaker names?

Thu, 25 Sep 2014

People tend to get very set in their ways when it comes to the pronunciation of words. Just look at the endless debates over whether or not to say the final 'e' in Porsche (which you should in terms of correct German enunciation). Or the argument about whether to follow the British convention and give the 'u' in Jaguar a special delivery or to say the 'ua' diphthong as more of a 'w' sound, as usually happens in the US.
This short video doesn't answer either of those automotive questions, but it does allow a native Japanese speaker to demonstrate the accepted pronunciations for several, major automakers from the country. One benefit is that it clears up the occasional debate over whether Nissan should be said with a long or short 'i' sound. Also, listen closely to how the female host says Mazda as Matsuda, the way it's actually said in the language. Even if this doesn't change the way you enunciate these brands, at least now you know the accurate way in Japanese.

2016 Mazda MX-5 Miata firsthand impressions and notebook scribblings

Thu, 04 Sep 2014

In a temporarily repurposed airport hanger in Monterey, CA, the world caught its first glimpse of the 2016 Mazda MX-5 Miata tonight, and I was fortunate enough to attend in person along with my fellow auto media colleagues, Mazda execs, a couple hundred Miata devotees and, oddly, a fair number of Duran Duran fans. The klieg lights have dimmed, Simon Le Bon is no longer ringing in my ears, and I'm left to ponder what I've seen. I've scavenged my notes - and my Twitter feed - to give you some details and brief thoughts.
Fair Warning: I can't claim to be completely impartial (I own a second-generation NB and consider the Miata franchise to be one of but a few sacrosanct franchises in modern motoring), but I will share my honest first impressions of the new car, both good and bad.
Here are my notes:

Top Gear recounts the fiery demise of the Mazda Furai

Mon, 02 Dec 2013

This past September we reported on Top Gear's destruction of the Mazda Furai, one of the finest concept cars to ever grace an auto show stage. It turns out that the Furai, which was burned nearly beyond recognition at the hands of the British magazine, was actually destroyed back in 2008, and that the entire thing had been covered up for five long years.
Now, a few months after publishing that heart-wrenching composite of a half-baked Furai (shown above), the lads at TG have published their account of just what resulted in a priceless concept car being transformed into a smoking hulk on a Suffolk runway. Click over to read the full story about just what happened, along with pictures of the Furai before, during and after the inferno.
