You are viewing an absolutely gorgeous, 1-owner and exclusively Florida-kept and driven 2008 Mazda Miata MX-5 Touring Sport Roadster. This car is the epitome of what an open-air Sports Car should be, in its purist form. It is in spectacular condition, from it beautiful, mirror finish True Red exterior, to the Black textured Sport interior and Black canvas retractable convertible roof. The high-density aluminum/alloy wheels with Yokohama premium touring radials really allows this perky 166-horsepower Naturally-aspirated 2.0 liter powerplant really lets this personal Sports Car zip through the windy roads (or urban traffic), and the double-wishbone suspension really provides incredible handling and turning radius. Its no wonder this MX-5 is the obvious choice for Road Coarse Ralley's (or Sunday morning country drives), and this one is phenomenal condition. With only 36,741 original, pampered and occasional-use only miles, its no wonder why. Its been garaged....Its been superbly cared for...and its been loved. Not a daily commuter, or an Interstate vehicle with any of the annoying rock or bug chips on the front fascia, this Miata is clean, clean, clean....and that includes the interior! Please look over the many detailed photos and see for yourself what an incredible find this 2008 MX-5 Miata truly is. Only one, careful Florida owner. Dealer serviced and maintained and very, very well cared for. Florida vehicles really do make better pre-owned automobiles. No harsh winters, no harsh roads, no snow, no salt, no undercarriage corrosion....you should be getting the picture. The convertible top is brand, brand new and we just had it replaced (to the tune of $1,200) just 3 short weeks ago. The interior is spotless. It has a high-power Sony audio system with CD that replaces that inadequate factory unit, so you can enjoy all your favorite songs, with the wind blowing through your hair (or, with coffee mug in hand on the way to work). Thankfully, this beauty is an automatic, so you won't have to fuss with any of that annoying manual shifting. If you do happen to get the urge to increase your performance and take the track to the street, there are Formula One-style paddle shifters at easy reach. Have your cake and eat it too folks!! Only 36,000 original miles, makes this one of the finest examples available in the Nation. That's less than 6,000 careful, fair-weather miles per year folks!! What more could you possibly ask for?? Red super-sexy Sports Car, sharp alloy wheels, high-power audio system, spotless Sport interior, a host of convenience and safety options (listed below) automatic transmission with optional paddle shifting, a Florida pedigree, super, super low miles....and again, did we mention its Red?? AutoCheck Vehicle History Reports rates the Mazda Miata's available for sale in the nation with scores ranging from 70 through 88. Ours scored an Ultra-impressive 91!! How's that for peace of mind!! This is a great car and the latest October 2014 NADA Official Used Car Guide shows the retail value of this low mileage 2008 Mazda Miata MX-5 to be upwards of $15,150 and certainly much more at your friendly neighborhood Mazda dealership, or local high-image Import Auto Boutique. (if they could find one). We have this sexy and immaculate Roadster on auction for 7 days with No Reserve....that's right, one incredible savvy and lucky bidder will be getting the car of their dreams, at an incredible price. Please feel free to call or e-mail Steve with any questions you have regarding this fine automobile. You can certainly fly into Jacksonville International and we will pick you up, or we deliver anywhere within the Continental USA, from our showroom to your driveway. This is the MX-5 that you have been waiting for. We charge a nominal $299 dealer fee to every purchase. Don't make the mistake of missing out on this classically-styled, mint condition Roadster. Good Luck to everyone bidding. Bid with Confidence and Bid to win!

Takashi Yamanouchi to retire as Mazda chairman

Mon, 12 May 2014

Takashi Yamanouchi has been with Mazda for a long time. He signed on with the Japanese automaker in April 1967 - one month after graduating from Keio University - and rose through the ranks over the years. By 1996 he was named to the company's board of directors. In 2008 he was named president and CEO, an office he held until 2013, after which he handed over the day-to-day reins to Masamichi Kogai and took up the seat at the head of the board room to serve as the company's chairman. But now, after 47 years working for Mazda, Yamanouchi-san is retiring at the age of 69.
During his tenure as CEO and then as chairman, Yamanouchi was credited with growing Mazda's business despite unfavorable fluctuations in exchange rates, opening the company's first plant in Mexico, and spearheading the development of Mazda's Skyactiv technologies and Kodo design language.
In his place, current vice chairman Seita Kanai will take over as chairman. The changing of the guard will take place after the annual shareholders' meeting on June 24.

2016 Mazda MX-5 Miata firsthand impressions and notebook scribblings

Thu, 04 Sep 2014

In a temporarily repurposed airport hanger in Monterey, CA, the world caught its first glimpse of the 2016 Mazda MX-5 Miata tonight, and I was fortunate enough to attend in person along with my fellow auto media colleagues, Mazda execs, a couple hundred Miata devotees and, oddly, a fair number of Duran Duran fans. The klieg lights have dimmed, Simon Le Bon is no longer ringing in my ears, and I'm left to ponder what I've seen. I've scavenged my notes - and my Twitter feed - to give you some details and brief thoughts.
Fair Warning: I can't claim to be completely impartial (I own a second-generation NB and consider the Miata franchise to be one of but a few sacrosanct franchises in modern motoring), but I will share my honest first impressions of the new car, both good and bad.
Here are my notes:

Mazda Skyactiv-D racer first diesel to run at Indy in 60 years

Thu, 25 Jul 2013

While it may not be touting the old "Win on Sunday, sell on Monday" axiom we all know and love, Mazda recognizes that racing can only improve its cars. And so it's no surprise that the Japanese automaker is testing and refining its Skyactiv-D diesel engine by sending it out on various race tracks around the country - notably being the first diesel ever to compete at Daytona and the first to notch a Grand Am win at Road Atlanta.
Next up? Indy. It has been over 60 years since a diesel-powered machine ran at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, and the Cummins-powered racer that competed in the 1952 Indy 500 with a 6.6-liter inline-six-cylinder oil-burner was a fast and brutal machine that set a new lap record in qualifying leading up to the race. Though that car was withdrawn with turbocharger failure 71 laps in, its diesel powerplant left an indelible impression on the racing community, and that's something Mazda hopes to accomplish once again.
Mazda says that the diesel engine in its race car is pretty darn close to stock - 51 percent stock by parts count, and 63 percent stock by weight - which means the way it performs in competition is at least a somewhat meaningful way to the stock engine's durability in the real world. Check out the image of the Mazda6 Skyactiv-D racer posing alongside the 1952 Cummins above (click to enlarge) and feel free to peruse the press release below for the rest of the details.
