I'm the original owner and I'm selling my metallic silver 2004 Mazda Miata MX-5 Speed (Turbo) It has red cloth interior. 47,500k mileage. The engine has not been modified. The body has the ground effects and the tires and rims were changed. The original tires were low profile but I put on Pirellis which leave less clearance around the wheel wells. The car has had minor cosmetic repairs over the years but no major accidents. There are minor dings and chips on bumper and few spots around car exterior. There are no tears in the convertible top or in the interior upholstery. The stereo, electrical, AC and components are all operating properly. The spare donut and jack are in the trunk. The car was garaged from 2004 to 2013. I no longer have a garage. I have the original manuals and I've entered all the maintenance in the log book. The oil was changed about every 5k. Mazda going back to oval grille with next MX-5 Miata
Tue, 18 Feb 2014The original Mazda MX-5 Miata was distinguished by an oval grille - a design trait that gradually evolved into the smiling cat face on the latest model. But Mazda, according to the latest intel, is planning on returning to that oval grille with the new model in the works.
The revised grille will cap a slightly longer form than models past, while still keeping weight down to a minimum. The stretched wheelbase was reportedly adopted in order to meet the requirements of Alfa Romeo, which is jointly developing the new platform together with Mazda for use on a new roadster of its own.
The new Miata is expected to adopt the 1.5-liter Skyactiv four found in the Mazda3, albeit returned to rev higher and deliver more power and torque, mated to either a six-speed manual or automatic. The Alfa version, meanwhile, is expected to use a 1.4-liter turbo four with a dual-clutch transmission. Sources anticipate the new MX-5 to debut first, possibly at the 2015 Chicago Auto Show a little less than a year from now.
Mazda returning to top-tier racing with diesel-powered prototype in USCC
Thu, 14 Nov 2013Mazda has unveiled its latest challenger in the top flight of endurance racing, a diesel-powered prototype that will campaign the inaugural, 2014 Tudor United SportsCar Championship. The new Skyactiv-D-powered car will make its race debut at January's Rolex 24 at Daytona.
"This is the most significant step Mazda has taken towards returning to the global racing stage since our overall victory at Le Mans in 1991," said the director of Mazda Motorsports, John Doonan. That historic racecar, the rotary-powered 787B, has grown to become one of Mazda's many, well-known racers.
More recently, the Japanese brand has been making waves in the Grand-Am series, campaigning RX-8s and, most recently, running diesel-powered Mazda6 sedans in the GX-class. Mazda will campaign two factory-backed prototypes at Daytona. Driver lineups will be announced closer to race day.
