i bought this car about 10 months ago. i have been very pleased with it, but i need a car with a backseat. i have a new grandaughter and this car and my truck lack a back seat. one must go. i bought this car from a 63 year old lady who always parked it at the back of the lot to avoid scratches. i have done the same. everything on the car works as it should. air conditioning is cold all the power options work. the body looks great with only a very few minor flaws. there are 3 things about this car that i feel are less than perfect. in cold weather the transmission becomes notchy. i have read this is common with the mazda 6 speeds and it has never been a bother to me. There is also a pin head sized hole in the top. otherwise it is in nice shape. no leaks or tears. The front tires rub slightly if the wheelsa are turned all the way. Again this has never been a bother to me. there is a fourth thing concerning the driver's side latch. It does not lock. There is a fix for this posted on utube, buy the latch stays closed held by the sunvisor so i have never bothered to fix or replace it. The car runs and drivers great and handles like a dream. The engine has always had mobile one and the car has been kept under a carport or in a garage. Mazda launches 25th Anniversary Miata pre-order site, priced from $32,205
Fri, 02 May 2014Mazda made a big celebration of the MX-5 Miata at the 2014 New York Auto Show with a bunch of classic models on display. It capped off the model's 25th birthday with the announcement of the 2015 MX-5 Miata 25th Anniversary Edition and showed off the much-anticipated, next-generation version's chassis.
While we are still at least year away from the new Miata hitting the road, the anniversary edition is on its way and is limited to just 100 copies for the United States. The special cars start at $32,205, compared to $23,970 for the 2015 softtop model and $28,665 for the 2015 retractable hardtop version. There is an additional $795 destination charge for all of them.
To make sure everyone gets a chance to own the ceremonial convertible, Mazda has a countdown on its website until 10:25 AM PDT, May 20, 2014. When the day comes, 250 people can to register for the car, and the first 100 to be verified as buyers get the rare Miata. Those with multiple entries will be disqualified.
Mazda6 Skyactiv-D Racecar ready to bring diesel to Grand-Am
Tue, 15 Jan 2013It may not be quite as radical as some of the company's past rotary racers, but the new Mazda6 Skyactiv-D racecar does have a notable powertrain underhood: the automaker's brand-new clean diesel four-cylinder engine.
Three of these new diesel-powered Mazda6 racers will take to the track in the Grand-Am GX class of the upcoming 2013 Rolex 24 at Daytona on January 26, with five drivers on each team. The car you see above, number 70, is sponsored by Mazda's longtime motorsports partner, SpeedSource.

Mazda CEO predicts record US sales in next 2 years
Mon, 18 Nov 2013The recently appointed CEO of Mazda is apparently quite the optimist, claiming that the Japanese brand, renowned for its Zoom-Zoom driving character (and more recently its sleek, refined designs and Skyactiv efficiency), is claiming the company will record its best-ever US sales within the next two years. According to a report from Automotive News, Masamichi Kogai expects Mazda to move 400,000 of its Kodo-styled vehicles in the increasingly competitive US market by March 2016, with the recently launched Mazda3 leading the charge. "It will impacted considerably by the trend of the U.S. industry. But... it's my hope we achieve the record by that time," Kogai tells AN.
The brand is currently targeting 300,000 units by the end of this fiscal year in March 2014. Given that production and sales of the Mazda3 (and consumer awareness of the 2014 Mazda6) is still picking up steam, it isn't a stretch to imagine Mazda, which sold 240,000 vehicles from January to October of 2013, hitting its target.
Along with the overall increase in sales numbers, Kogai is expecting the independent brand to take an even larger slice of the US sales pie, claiming 2.5 percent US market share, improving from its current 1.9-percent foothold so far in 2013. "I think the upper limit may be 2.5 percent for the time being," Kogai told AN, before pointing out, "We don't want to use a lot of incentives. That is not the sales approach we aspire toward."
